She wants something real. He wants something now. Together they’re trouble in USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke’s sexy and funny twice-in-a-lifetime love story.
With his shameless grin and let’s-play swagger, carpenter Penn Etling leaves women wanting in Dogwood Lane. What do they get? Avery Perry knows: a one-night stand. She’s been there. She remembers every hot pulse as if it were … hot pulse as if it were yesterday. But Penn? He doesn’t remember a thing. Now he’s making new moves, and Avery’s not falling for trouble…again. Is she?
How could the beautiful stranger resist him? Avery is going to be a challenge for the bad boy. She’s the kind of woman who digs deep—deep enough to see there’s more to Penn than meets the eye. But first she has to give him a chance. She has to say yes. Could she also be the woman to make him change his playboy ways?
When these two come together, it’s hard to pull them apart. But with love and trust on the line, can Avery and Penn get what they both want? This time for keeps?

Fabulous, sexy fun right from the beginning all the way to the wonderful ending. Such a pair as the beautiful Avery as the new girl and the town’s one-and-done stud but such a great guy, Penn. He’s so much more than his reputation and he wants a chance with Avery even if he doesn’t remember she’s a great memory from his troubled past. She remembers but doesn’t clue him in. She’s a different gal from what she was when they had a sweet and sexy encounter years ago. The writing is spectacular and the characters are divine, both the main and the secondary. I love this group of family and friends in this small town of Dogwood Lane. I hope Avery’s fabulous aunt, Harper, gets a story. I loved her. Another winner from this outstanding author! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
This was another Locke perfect sweet, small town love story with two endearing characters, intense chemistry and a great romance that could be considered a little of a second chance romance.
My oh my dear Penn, you were everything I needed and had hoped for. Your sweet side had me swooning hard and my heart soared when you finally figured out you are meant to love and be loved. Avery was meant to come back into Penn’s life with her confident, don’t settle attitude. Dare I say they completed each other with their push and pull.
This was a light hearted story with cute banter and romance for miles.
I’m not sure why, but it took me longer than I hoped to get trough Trouble. It was hard for me to come around to liking Penn, he was funny at times, but his womanizer ways were a bit too much during this read.
I have nothing against the writing because I love Adriana’s books to pieces, but I think this just wasn’t my kind of read.
As we’re well acquainted with Penn, it was a constant cycle and a bit repetitive. I was hoping for more character development especially with him. And just more from their relationship, in general.
I did enjoy their banter and always a fan of seeing the secondary characters. I’m definitely looking forward to the next read by Adriana.
**AN ARC WAS PROVIDED BY THE PUBLISHER IN EXCHANGE FOR A REVIEW**
Adriana Locke hits it out of the ballpark again with a sweet small-town romance. Penn is the bachelor from Dogwood Lane that I’ve been waiting the longest to see if he would fall. I mean, of course he does! And it was worth the wait. Penn has his demons, of course. But they only make him more likable.
I was awake until 4 AM so I could finish this book!
Penn caught my interest in the previous Dogwood Lane books. He’s a flirt, cocky, funny, and full of confidence. He’s a good guy and great friend even if he doesn’t want to accept those titles.
Avery is a sweetheart. I love her confidence! She know what she wants and she won’t settle for less.
These two together have a powerful chemistry. Their banter is hilarious. They’re both funny and good people. They each have their own past, both with a lot of crappy parts to share but it brings them closer together.
This is such a good book. So good.
Adriana did not disappoint but I knew she wouldn’t!
Trouble by Adriana Locke is book Three in the Dogwood Lane Series. This is the story of Avery Perry and Penn Etling. I have read the previous books which added to my enjoyment of this one but I did feel you could make it a standalone book if you wish to do so. Avery and Penn had a hot one night stand about 10 years ago when they were really young. Now in their present day we see that Penn is somewhat of a man-whore who doesn’t do commitments. Avery is at a point in her life that she is done playing games and just wants to settle in so she moves to Dogwood Lane where her Aunt lives. So of course she ends up meeting Penn again who doesn’t remember her at all. But he is putting on the charm to try to get with her but Avery is working to resit him.
This was a good second chance at love read.
Penn Etling is trouble with a capital T! Cocky, sexy, funny and the master of sexual innuendo…but he has layers and depth that he keeps hidden. You can’t help but love him! Avery Perry has lived a life where she can’t trust that people want to be with her for her not for the connections to her family.
The chemistry between Penn and Avery is tangible…you get caught up in the push and pull of their relationship as each struggles with their own issues. Locke regales us with a fun, flirty, and sexy romance that will make you laugh and sigh! Also, intertwined in the story is a varied cast of supporting characters that really enhance the story. I enjoyed this book, so if you are looking for a well written, witty read this is the book for you. Advanced copy provided by Netgalley.
I was so excited to come back to Dogwood Lane! And even more excited to read how our resident bad boy Penn fell in love! Adriana couldn’t have wrote a better leading lady then she did in Avery to steal, and keep, Penn’s heart.
I absolutely loved their journey and all the roles the other characters played. Dogwood Lane has the best set of supporting characters that help make the final HEA the best. I can’t wait to read more of them!
This is the third book in the Dogwood Lane series. They are standalones, so if this is your first, it’s completely fine.
Penn is the town man-whore. He does have his reason for not wanting a relationship. They are valid because of what he’s been through. Emotional abuse is no joke. You see him change in this book.
Especially when Avery blindsides him and shows him love.
Avery just wants love. She packed up and lefter her home in LA and moved in with her aunt in Dogwood. She’s sick of being used by “friends” and others because of who her parents are. She doesn’t want that life anymore. She knows exactly what she does want.
I have loved Penn since the start. I love how Avery made him make some tough realizations.
This is a great read.
I was provided a copy via Netgalley.
Im officially have fallen in love with DogWood Lane . SmallTown romance with sexy smirking couples oh yeahhh..
Penn Etling, the sweet mouth Southern boy… I think he stand up pretty well with Avery Flynn. The story was alluring with sassy females. I adored Avery for her courage to break free. Her journey to be happy and finding love. Trouble was funny and charming. I had a lot of laughters reading this memorable love story.
Adriana Locke is my go to for small town romances. She knows how to write them and have us fall in love. I have been looking forward to Penn’s story since the beginning and I was not disappointed. Avery and Penn’s story has us back in Dogwood Lane and we catch glimpses of all our favorites from the previous books as well as getting to know more people from this cute little town.
Penn met his match with Avery in the best of ways and it was really fun seeing this feel good story come to be. This story is a definite must read as are all of Ms. Locke’s books. LOVED IT!
Is there anything better then trouble. Penn and Averys story is everything that I was hoping for and more. The relationship is great I could not put this down. Watching as their friendship becomes more and then having to deal with their past which they don’t full know each other’s and their combined pasts. Adriana Locke did not disappoint and this is a great read.
This is the third book in the series and it reminds me why I love this series so much. I love this small town of Dogwood Lane. It makes me want to go visit. I loved Avery. She has spirit and bravery for making such a big life choice to better her life for herself. I give her major credit for taking herself out of a toxic life that was holding her back from enjoying life. Not that’s it’s going to smooth sailing especially when temptation like Penn is walking around. Penn is a ladies man and he knows it. He lives up that image in spades and keeps feelings far away from him. Too bad he has his sights on the newest resident of Dogwood Lane who is all how something meaningful and real. Don’t let the playboy side of Penn fool you because there is more to the man then meets the eye. Avery is going to open his eyes to a side himself he thought he’s never see. That’s what wins me over for Penn. We start to see the man that’s underneath the surface. He has some swoon worthy moments. I loved the humor in the book and the banter between Avery and Penn was one of my favorite parts of the book. I can’t get enough of this series. I’m looking forward to more.
I love the small town feel to this series. The characters are all connected with each other. I love how the secondary characters add even more dimension to the story. Penn is the alpha that everyone loves. He tries to come off as one person but you can see down to his broken soul. He deserves so much more than he realizes. Avery is just the person to prove to Penn that love is worth the risk. The journey that this couple takes us on is emotional and raw completely beautiful. The writing draws you in and keeps you entertained enter the end. I adored this book and I can’t wait for more from this series.
4.6 stars
My favorite of this series, and possibly my favorite character from this author. I have been wanting to read Penn’s story since he was first introduced. There was something so endearing about this character. Even in all his goofiness and almost manchild ways, there was just “something” that drew me to his character. I knew that there was more than meets the eye when it came to him and I was right. Sure he still was charming and flirted or joked a lot, but it became more apparent with this story that inside there was something a little broken. If I could hug a fictional grandpa for keeping a part of him intact I would.
Initially, I thought the heroine would be someone else. However, after reading this book, I have to say that the author couldn’t have picked a better person for Penn because Avery was exactly what he needed. Hell, Penn was exactly what she needed too.
This series is rapidly becoming one of my favorites from this author which says something because I LOVE the Gibson boys. I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series. I just know that it will be amazing because this author doesn’t seem to know how to do anything less than perfect.
I have been dying to get my hands on Penn’s story from the start of this series. And WOW! Locke did not disappoint!
Oh Penn! My sweet, cocky, fun loving Penn. I fell hard and fast for him. He was absolutely everything I hoped he would be and more.
Avery had me wanting to be her friend from the start and I found myself rooting for her immediately.
The chemistry between these two characters had me fanning myself and worried the pages might catch fire.
I could not put this one down and I cannot wait to see what Locke brings us next with this series!
I’ve been looking forward to Penn’s book since I read “Tumble”. Adriana Locke has a way of allowing you to get to know her character that just leave you hanging on and waiting for the stories. I’m so glad she didn’t wait too long to let us get more of Penn.
Penn is the ultimate playboy in a small town – which means everyone knows everything. He isn’t ready to settle down, to have a relationship, or anything remotely similar to it. And most people in town know why.
Enter Avery. Avery moves into town to stay with her aunt and the attraction between her and Penn is instant. But she isn’t interested in one night only.
Penn has never had to work for hard for a girl and he finds himself wanting to spend more time with Avery. But it will all fall apart eventually, because that’s the way it works, right?
Jump in and hang on because you are in for a fun ride.
This was another great story from Adriana Locke. This series is so cute. – small town romance at it’s best. She is a one click author for me, every time!
This is the third book in the Dogwood Lake series. Penn is know as a the one to make jokes and goofs off. He also isn’t into relationships. Avery moves from LA to live with her aunt as she is trying to find where she belongs. This is a touching love story of two somewhat broken people. I loved this book. It was funny, touching and heartwarming and also enjoyed seeing the characters from the first two books. (This is a stand alone)
Penn Etling is nothing but TROUBLE!! Trouble in the best possible way!! He is so swoony and sexy, a bit of a man whore and doesn’t really believe in love. Deep down though he is more than that. It takes Avery to bring it out. Avery is this sassy and strong bada$$ who is trying to stay away from trouble at all costs. It’s impossible!! There is such a strong chemistry between them.
I absolutely loved these strong characters that Adriana Locke has written. I swear everyone on of her books are better than the last. Trouble is no different. I absolutely loved the ride to their HEA!!
