I swear these two ladies get into more dangerous and tough situations than any one else! I would love to know someone like Pauline, she is a kick! I had so much fun reading this that I can’t wait for the next book and their next adventure!
The Flight Risk Cozy Mystery Series is a funny, entertaining series with a couple of interesting main characters: Pauline and Kendell. Pauline is a feisty, older woman from Georgia, USA, and her sidekick is a confident, young woman from NY. Add a pocket pup that barks at the wrong times and you get entertaining stories to read on their journey around the globe. P.S.: Pauline isn’t senile, she’s quaint and smart. 4 stars
Murder at Macbeth #1 – Funny, entertaining. I had stopped reading Ms. Harper for a few months and wanted to try this series. I enjoyed this book, the storyline and certainly the characters: Pauline and Kendell. There’s a little bit of everything in this story, including a nod to Jackie Chan. While the morgue scene was a bit unrealistic, it still worked, and the rest of the story is entertaining. The Bobbies take a bit of beating with their lack of investigating. 4 stars
A Killing in Kenya #2 – The story picks up on the plane ride from London to Kenya. This story is funnier and has more adventures than Murder at Macbeth. Added to the mix is flight attendant friend Liv and many fun animals. Well written with interesting dialog and an intriguing plot, along with plenty of humor and adventure. It was interesting to read about game reserves and legal hunting of endangered animals; whether this is true or not, it makes sense. Entertaining and quick to read. My favorite of the first four in the series. The next stop: Hawaii. 4 stars
Homicide in Hawaii #3 – The story starts as the plane takes off from Nairobi, Kenya. I don’t care too much reading books set in HA, but this one is OK. Not as fast paced as the first two books, it was still interesting and quick to read. The main characters are getting better rounded, the dialog is still realistic and no stupid formula. The trio is joined by another flight attendant Brandon. Included are previews for a couple of books. The next stop: Peru via Texas. 3 stars
Trouble in Texas #4 – This story starts as the plane takes off from Hawaii on the way to Peru with a stop in Texas. Storms and a tornado keep the trio near Dallas. This book isn’t my favorite, a lot of things felt off. While slow moving, the story was interesting while some of the dialog and actions were off. Kinda halfhearted stereotyping, which that’s been done in the other books but those felt honest and playful (not meant to insult – just tease). With old school/native Texans, there’s no wearing hats or work gloves in the house, so when one of these articles was continuously worn without comment by others, that was unreal. The next stop: Mississippi. 3 stars
You just can’t put this next chapter in Pauline’s bucket list down! A Great fun cozy murder mystery.
This series has so much to offer, great characters, description of the places they visit, lots of laughs and a murder mystery to boot! Pauline,an elderly, feisty and fun woman became great friends with Kendall, a flight attendant who needed a break, when she first met her in the first installment of the flight Risk Cozy mystery series. Inviting her along on her bucket list journey to different countries, Kendall was ready to go. Along the way on their journey to different countries, Pauline and her little pocket dog, Dot also invite other flight attendants along the way. In this book, Pauline invites Jesse another flight attendant and a friend of Kendall’s to join them on their trip to Peru. It was not a direct flight and they had to make a stopover in Dallas which became an emergency landing due their plane flying into a hurricane. Stranded at the Dallas airport, a nice southern rancher and his daughter Mary invite the trio to their home for a place to stay and some home cooking. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, Pauline and the girls accept their offer and get hit with the hurricane, family drama with the son and his 2 ex-girlfriends who get stranded there too, a tornado and of course a murder. Pauline and Kendall are an old hand at solving murders and this time there are far fewer suspects but what is the motive? Lots of red-herrings, lots of crazy twists, lots of fun. Next stop on the travels of Pauline and Kendall is a road trip to Pauline’s home. What could be waiting for them there! I can’t wait to find out! I received and ARC but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
