This book is hysterically funny to me. Lots of books are humorous, and usually it’s just one or two snide or sarcastic comments by a character that can set me laughing. With the Mudbug characters, you’re laughing through the whole book. I love nothing more than having a giggle fit over a good book with entertaining characters, in spite of the eye …
I’ve been trying to read mystery authors who are new to me. I’ve never tried a book by Jana DeLeon before, and the blurb about being haunted by your mother-in-law’s ghost appealed to me. This was a solid mystery with a likeable heroine and good backup characters. The character who stole the show for me, though, was the mother-in-law. She …
I enjoyed it.
Great book for vacation reading
Things are not what they may seem in this story with quirky characters
This is the first book in the Ghost-in-Law mystery/romance series. I have mixed feelings about this book.
Maryse is a botanist working for the state and trying to find a cure for cancer among the indigenous plants in the wild life preserve. She is estranged from her playboy husband and lives a pretty solitary life.
Then her mother-in-law, Helena …
I have to say I fell a little bit in love with Helena, the MIL that refuses to move on to the next plane. And Maryse’s dealings with her had me laughing out loud. A well plotted mystery with clues to keep you guessing.
I laughed out loud. I have family in that part of our country. I can truly appreciate the how scared the main character must have been in the church.
Nothing is what it seems.
This will be a book I will reread. I am looking forward to the next one in the series. Great Job,
This is a fun and easy to read series with a crazy ghost in a small Louisiana town full of interesting characters. The writing is very descriptive and it makes you feel like you are in this town. If you like cozy murders you will not be disappointed in these book so grab a copy and have fun.
Enjoyed this book. Look forward to reading more from her.
Awesome series. Very funny. Has a bit of everything…mystery. romance and ghosts.
A great, fun read. Lots of surprising plot turns.
Just a great read. Have not read this author before but will look for more books by them
It is a funny and quirky little mystery
Trouble in Mudbug is a fun way to spend an afternoon or evening. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from a novel described as a mystery/ghost story/romance but, to my delight, it was surprisingly well done! Set in a small bayou town not too far from New Orleans, there is a murder (maybe) and most certainly a ghost but much, much more, …
Loved it very refreaching. Reading the series.
I can imagine this as a wonderfully entertaining movie with a loris Leachman or Jane Fonda as the eccentric Helena who, although dead, finds herself crawling out of her casket at her funeral. Good mystery and well developed characters. Too bad it has such a silly title — it’s much better than the title. A fun read!
Definitely a light, enjoyable read. Characters have a lot of personality and make for a interesting story line.
Jana DeLeon has a talent for telling a southern woman’s story and you will get such enjoyment from reading them. This is another of her series that will have you laughing out loud when you read them. I mean seriously how would you feel if your not so ex-mother-in-law came back to haunt you? Then add in the fact she is very self-centered and the …
Most of its funny there are parts that will make you think
