You can hide from your past. But you can’t hide from love…Marine veteran Austin Flint knows all about trouble. He fought it in Afghanistan, and now he battles it at home as the head of Six Points Tactical & Security. In his line of work, he can’t afford to be distracted by anything…or anyone, and that includes Nina Petrov, his cyber security specialist. She’s got a chip on her shoulder, a … a chip on her shoulder, a smart mouth. And a body that just doesn’t quit. She’s also his employee, which makes her off limits, no matter how badly he wants her.
But when her life is threatened by the Russian mafia, he’ll do what it takes to protect her, even if that means breaking his code of honor and claiming her as his own.
Trouble is, he doesn’t know about her past, and what he doesn’t know might get them both killed.

I didn’t get drawn into the story. I put this book down.
More like 3.5 stars. The characters are likable, their backstories solid, and the plot suspenseful. I would read more titles in the Six-Point Security series.
I would have given this a 4 star rating except for two things: it’s a cliffhanger and the story felt more like a long synopsis than a fully fleshed out book.
The two big chances at setting up tension in the story were over rather quickly and didn’t engender much more than concern on the part of this reader. With some work, the book could sizzle.
As for cliffhangers, if a book is well-written and captures the heart of a reader, they will generally want to read more in the series. For me, a blatant cliffhanger is a last ditch effort to sell the next book in a series.
