This is the first book in the series and it ends with a cliffhanger. Intended for 18+. May contain Triggers.I was raised by the Devil himself. Formed into a man who was unreachable.I went from the boy with bruises to the man with a trigger. Killing is the only thing that calms the itch. The demons inside were a constant battle… battle…
…until she changed everything.
Problem is when you spend most of your time in the dark, is it smart to step into the light?

Loved this 3 book series.
This is Part 1 of a trilogy . The story is long. But worth the read. You get under the skin and in the minds of the main characters. It is NOT for people who are against any form of violence. The sex scenes are not supper detailed but enough to turn off the light hearted expecting nice love making. You must read all 3 books to get the full story.
From the moment I picked up this book I just couldn’t put it down. The story line itself was well thought out and kept my mind engaged till the very end. I enjoyed how Trigger, the MC President, was not like any other MC romance I encountered before. Clearly he is true to the character one would assume an MC man would be, an ass and 100% bad. I liked that Drake gave readers two main characters who aren’t your typical hero and damsel in distress. They each seemed to have their own demons chasing them and with each chapter we are constantly putting pieces together to learn more about Trigger and Tess. The cliffhanger at the end just about killed me but I am glad to know this isn’t the end of Trigger and Tess’ story! I look forward to being sucked back into their crazy world in book 2 of the Devil’s Reach series.
The beginning of the Devil’s Reach Series is a must read!!! Love the dynamic between Trigger and Tess. This book will have you reading for hours and lost in the world of The Devil’s Reach!!!! Once your start this series you won’t be able to stop!!!
This was my first MC book and my thoughts…. I’m getting a bike, adopting a fierce nickname, and joining a club! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it exceeded all my expectations. I loved the dark, gritty, and unforgiving nature of their world and how it contrasts with their loyalty and close bonds. The story was gripping and kept you on the edge of your seat, while toying with your emotions. I also loved how the author teases you with hints of both Trigger’s and Tess’s history before leaving you puzzling it out again. It has opened me up to trying more from the author and the MC romance genre and I can’t wait to start the next book in the series!
Awesome series, Amazing writer..
Trigger is the first of the Devil’s Reach series and starts off with the first portion of Trigger and Tess’ story. Both come from backgrounds that are… well lets just say less than stellar, and are both broken in their own way. Tess is running from something or someone (we don’t really get any straight answers) and when her long time best friend reaches out and lets her know where to go, she doesn’t imagine it would lead to the Devil’s Reach clubhouse. A job is a job, and she needs the money, so after passing a test of sorts she agrees to be a bartender. What she doesn’t bargain for is Trigger and the attraction to him.
Trigger is a complicated mess but at the same time holding his crap together, he is very closed off to everyone including his VP, he doesn’t even like to be touched. There is something different about Tess, he just knows she is going to be more trouble than he is ready for. When their individual ghosts come back to haunt them, will they be able to stand up to them or will they fold like a house of cards?
So this was an ok read for me. I felt that at times there was something missing, or maybe I had missed something along the way, but that could just be the authors writing style. This deals with drugs, violence, freaking hot sexy times, betrayal and drama. I give this 4 stars.
4.5 stars
Trigger is the first book I have read from J.L. Drake but definitely not my last. Although I felt the first few chapters were a little messy and I wasn’t sure about the authors writing I’m glad I stuck it out because I really enjoyed it. Trigger is the President of Devil’s Reach and believe me he’s is not a sweet man. He is emotionally closed off, violent and damaged. Needless to say I loved him very quickly lol. I was unsure about Tess in the beginning, she seemed vulnerable at times and badass at others but as the story progressed it worked. She is also damaged in ways we haven’t come close to understanding. Like usually there is trouble in the MC and there is a dead man walking who decided to cross Trigger. The story does end with a small cliffhanger and Trigger doing something that breaks Tess’s heart. On to book 2.
Ok so I’m going to write to reviews at once.. I could not stop reading, I left one book & dove right into the next! Now I need book 3!!! These books are so unbelievably great. Fast paced, suspense, hot sex, action packed. These books have it all! Trigger is so messed up but you can’t help but love him! Tess…. she’s my bad &$$ hero!!!
It’s been a while since I’ve read books like these that has kept me this drawn into a story!
Great writing!!!
I have found me another top author & I will be looking up all of Drake’s books!
Trigger is what you expect a MC book to be. It is dark, dirty and not for the weak. If you want the classic MC club that is bad and lead by what some consider the devil, then Trigger is the book you need to pick up.
Trigger was raised by the devil. From a early age all he is taught is violence, death and to be the most feared. With a short list of those who he trust, nothing matters to him but his club.
Tess is running from her past. She needs a new start. She needs to leave her past behind. Her list of those who she trust is much shorter and she turns to her BBF for help to get a new start.
Trigger and Tess have that chemistry that cant be explained. Both of their demons pull and tug at each other, calling for each to come out and play. Boy, do they play. But what happens when someone gets under your skin. You will stop at nothing to protect them, including breaking their heart.
Trigger is a non stop ride from start to finish. You can’t help but root for the demon to take what he wants. If you are looking for the bad boy, devil himself to come through the pages, guess what, you will get it and more when you pick up Trigger.
This is the first installment in Trigger, Devil’s Reach motorcycle club.
Let me begin by stating Ms. Drake nailed her book dedication. “To my dark side…for finally being freed. You’re welcome.” What an epic way to start a book!!!
Ms. Drake delivers a book filled with lust, angst, power struggle, and love. Trigger is the President of the Devil’s Reach. His character is flawed, edgy, and downright dark. Trigger believes he is unlovable due to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding his childhood. Tess, is a flawed but beautiful woman. She is head strong, emotionally broken and refuses to speak about her past. When Trigger and Tess meet, their world is not so black anymore but it is a kaleidoscope of all colors. Ms.Drake writes characters that are believable to the MC world. Her creative writing style knows no limits when it comes to this story. As her plot thickens, be prepared for one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride. This story will leave you happy, sad, angry and ugly crying. This story does end in one hell of a cliffhanger which has me begging for more. Well done Ms. Drake, and welcome to the dark side. Your book totally delivers!!!
Oh my gosh this book was effin amazing
Hot sexy alpha male a strong independent woman who knows her mind both with a past can they find that they fit together in their harsh mc life ???
I’m a newbie to J.L Drake but I can tell you right now Trigger will not be my last read from this amazing author from the first page I was sucked into this book and was devastated when it rudely spat me out I need the second book now !
I fell in love with Trigger from the start. Who doesn’t want to fix the broken bad boy?
J.L. Drake has quickly become one of my favorite authors. From the very beginning she sucks you into the story until you realize you lost half the day and your already done with the book. This one was a little darker than her other books I have read but I loved it. It has murder, mystery, humor (especially like the reference to the author and her damn cliffhangers) and hot, dirty romance. I also like how she ties in characters from her other books, helps keep the story alive in your mind. Can’t wait to get a hold of part 2…..
Love her books! Trigger grabs your attention from the very beginning. Great storyline with real emotion. Characters are really well written. Can. Not. Wait. For DR2 now!
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. I will be reading more of this author.
Usually I am not a huge fan of MC books, even though I love the tv series, but I give this book two thumbs up. It is very easy to picture the whole story in your head.
Both Trigger and Tess carrie around the scars of the past. A past that still haunts them now. they have secrets, secrets that can tear everything apart.
The book sees two broken people connecting and they made sense. There is a big twist at the end and there are plenty of unanswered question, to make you grab the next book and devour it.
My favorite line was “Prince Charming is overrated. People like us need people equally *** up. It evens s**t out”.
“Pain was good. Pain was easy to control. Every other emotion was just a waste of time.”
Trigger started off with a bang. It’s a raw, dark and sexy read. I was captivated from start to finish and left yearning for more.
“Look the devil in the eye, and I dare you to lie to him.”
Tess is a mysterious, strong, hard woman with impenetrable walls. She hasn’t had an easy life but we don’t have all the details of it yet. She has one friend, one person that she considers family, Matt. When she finds herself in need of help she turns to him which leads to Trigger. He is the rough, scarred, badass Pres of Devil’s Reach MC, who claims to have no soul.
“Since he was a boy, he’s been surrounded by nothing but hate. He’s been killing since you were on the school playground.”
Both main characters have trouble pasts and are broken. Neither do feelings and who is worst is still up in the air. This was a unique MC plot line and I find myself a little obsessed with it. This is the first book in the Devil’s Reach series but I was extremely happy a couple of characters from J.L. Drake’s previous books made crossover appearance. Once you dive into this book you will not be able to put it down and will be jumping into the second book, Demons, ASAP.
“I want the Reaper to sell his soul to me.”
OMG!!! This is a BADA$$ book!! I am in love with this MC!! I can’t get enough.
Trigger by J.L. Drake is the First book in the Devil’s Reach series. This is the story of Trigger and Tess.
Trigger is the President of the Devil’s Reach MC gang. Trigger new only hard living and fighting from the start along with physical abuse. Never trusting more than three people in his life but there is something about Tess and more than a pretty face.
Tess has come to her friend for help who she has known for about 18 years but hasn’t seen for about six. Since then her friend is the VP of Devil’s Reach MC gang and is nicknamed Brick. But he helps her get a job in the bar there at his club and she meets Trigger.
Trigger knows there is more going on with Tess than she is letting on and she is trying to keep it secret but that isn’t how things work with Trigger.
Really exciting read…this does end with a cliffhanger to set us up for the next installment in this series..and their story.
Trigger would probably describe his world as violent. Be prepared because he shows the reader very graphically how violent it can be. And he shows no remorse. You may also want to be careful of what you eat – in case you get queasy easily. The problem becomes that this is just like a horror movie – you just can’t look away.
Tess has a great friend in Brick. I’m interested to know what his story is. She’s an interesting character. She’s hard to figure out and how she got to this point in time. So much remains a mystery as you continue to follow the story. But you keep reading to see what she will reveal about herself.
These two characters are like an addiction. I have to keep going back for more and I can’t stop. This isn’t a touchy-feely type of story and that just adds to the addiction. It’s in the romance category but you don’t really see a lot of romance here. There’s plenty of sex but it is about an MC after all.
It’s an uncompromising tale of a group of men who give no excuses for their MC lifestyle. Trigger certainly makes no excuses for his behavior but when he’s around Tess he doesn’t seem as menacing. What I loved about the ending was that there was no HEA. It also left me wondering if book two of the series will continue their story or will our author leave us hanging for a while. I couldn’t find any information about the next book in the series so I will just have to hang on by my fingernails until it comes out.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
