This is the first book in the series and it ends with a cliffhanger. Intended for 18+. May contain Triggers.I was raised by the Devil himself. Formed into a man who was unreachable.I went from the boy with bruises to the man with a trigger. Killing is the only thing that calms the itch. The demons inside were a constant battle… battle…
…until she changed everything.
Problem is when you spend most of your time in the dark, is it smart to step into the light?

When I read Trigger the first time, I was in a dark and twisty place. The book fit my mood perfectly. At first, I wasn’t sure I’d like it, since I’d never really read an MC romance before. I’ve seen MC shows on TV and hadn’t really clicked with them because of the way they treat their women, so I went into this with one eye partially cracked in fear of what I’d find.
What I found was two twisted, emotionally battered and brutal souls searching to find a little peace.
Trigger was the ultimate alpha male and fit the role of an MC president perfectly. He was everything you imagine when you think of the badass MC bikers. He was also so dark and tormented, it broke my soul a little bit when I read about the things that carved him into the man he was.
Tess was just as emotionally brutalized by her family as Trigger and in some ways, perhaps a little more because she understood why she was the way she was better than Trigger did.
When they met, neither understood why they bothered with each other, especially since they fought the feelings they brought out in each other. But as I read their dark and beautiful story, I started to see them begin to let themselves want more and to realize that maybe they were worth more than they thought they were.
The cliffhanger at the end, had me mad enough to go track J.L. Drake down and demand answers though!
All in all, I loved this book. Trigger and Tess’s darkness helped me deal with my own. This book spoke to me on a deep and emotional level. I loved every single word written.
If someone asks me in three years, I’ll be able to gush and probably repeat every moment of this book back to them. It’s that memorable.
I highly recommend this book to anyone, even those MC virgins like I was.
I cannot believe I have not read this book sooner. WOW, just wow!!! This book was thrilling, invigorating, gritty, and oh so steamy. I loved every single moment of this is exhilarating ride.
“Can’t break something that is already broken, Trigger.”
I’m addicted to badass bikers, especially broken ones, and Trigger was just too tempting to resist. So, I took a chance on a new-to-me author and dug into Devil’s Reach MC. What can I say, I’m hooked.
It’s no wonder that Trigger considers himself the Devil’s spawn. I’d have to agree with him as far as his father is concerned. And I’d also have to agree that darkness is home to him, he’s never known anything else. When she steps into his life, her very presence shines a light into his darkness and calms his demons. He warns her, “I’m not your Prince Charming, Tess. I wasn’t made that way. He knows that she’s at risk if his enemies become aware of her presence. But can he let her go, even if it’s for her own good?
She sees his darkness and recognizes his demons. She’s not afraid, she has her own. “Prince Charming is overrated, Trigger. People like us need people equally as fucked up. It evens shit out.”
Yeah, that’s right. This book is dark and gritty and raw and real. The author isn’t shy about laying it all out there for her readers and takes you on a ride that will resonate long after the last page is turned. But I don’t plan on waiting, I’m moving on to the next book right now. No sleep for me, I’ll be moving right on to Demons. #BingeReading #BookHangover
This is an AMAZING series. I can’t wait for Unleashed (Book 3) to come out. J.L. Drake writes some hardcore scenes. Once you think you have figured out the story… she twists the plot! Definitely a page turner.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I can honestly say it won’t be my last. Wow! What can I say about this book. I love Trigger and how dark he is. This book is the perfect marriage between a dark romance and a MC romance, which is my favorite genre. During this book you are left guessing what Tess’s damaged past is about. I love Tess and Trigger together they are the perfect dark couple. They fight it but damn when they get together it is hotter than anything I have ever read. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and I can’t wait to see what is in store next in Demons, the next book in the series. Definitely an author to watch!!!!
Great start to a new amazing series!
Some of our new cast:

Savi,Langley,Mud,Fin,Ven,TiagoTrigger,
Big Joe
Let’s start off by saying this is a new author for me and I loved this story from cover to cover but, “I absolutely HATE reading books with cliffhangers !”
I loved this new MC romance from cover to cover as the story had wonderful characters all very complicated in their own right.Once I started reading the story I was fully enmeshed in it from the very beginning to the very end and never put it down.
I always pick a favorite character in the story to rave about and my choice this time around is going to be Tess.OMG! I loved her what a feisty fireball she was with a huge sense of humor, she was full of spunk, she was sexy, mouthy, had a backbone made of steel, and pure enjoyment to read about.Although Tess is all those things she is haunted by her past as well as being heartbroken and dead inside (a heart of Ice) her beliefs not mine I only saw a survivor and a strong and amazing women to be admired.I loved learning about what brought Tess to the Devil Reach MC Clubhouse.Tess’s story was heart wrenching and made me want to cry when I heard it .My heart broke for her and everything she had to go through and deal in her very short life so far.I don’t know how she survived it all really.Perhaps Brick helped with that he was Tess’s bleak life and I am so glad that she found some kind of solace with her among her chaotic loveless life.A 18 year friendship that lasted the test of time and circumstances.I love their friendship as they were like brother and sister but, so much more.
Trigger OMG! I man with layers! I have to say this man frightened even me,I found him to be tall, dark, handsome, dangerous, protective, overbearing, also a killer, and also love-able at the same time.”Does that make sense?”You have to get to know the broken man first but, once you see how he is with his nephew Fin and Tess you will see for yourself. There is a loving and caring man below the surface even though he thinks he is dead inside but, we see rare glimpses of the heart beating within his chest.Trigger is a character you love to hate but, he makes it impossible not to love this broken man.Circumstances made the Trigger the man we have grown to love but, at the same time I wished he would find just a sliver of happiness for just once in is horrible life.”When I say horrible it’s beyond anything you can imagine.”I believe Tess to be his savior and he hers. Two broken souls find solace in one another. As the pages turned and the story unfolded it seemed that Tess and Trigger became lighter and less tense and perhaps were finally grasping a bit of happiness that each haven’t felt in a very long time.”I loved seeing how they were with one another.”Awe…….I thought these two people were meant for one another perhaps, not to heal bought to offer a peace of solace for one another.
Trigger and Tess’s chemistry was of the charts.Holy fanning! Hot Hot hotter ! Their sexual encounters were hot as hell!
“I want some of that bad boy myself.”
Holy smokes! Flip your switch for me Trigger! LOL
Overall we loved everything about the story.
We loved the characters, the drama, the mystery, suspense, danger, betrayals and of course the romance.I loved hearing Tess’s and Triggers tragic stories of their upbringing lost loves my heart broken for the unfairness life dealt them both.
“It broke my heart time and time again.”I loved the climatic ending even though “I hate cliffhangers!”I could not wait to dive into book two and did just that and read that story from beginning to end in one sitting yet again.Love Love Loved it!
Personal note: Ms Drake has gained a new fan of her works.
When is the next release?
I can’t wait !
5 stars from us
I love this series!!! Trigger, Tess, Slaughter Room!!! Hell Yeah! This is my benchmark for MC books!!!
When I read this book it was not what I was expecting. This book checked so many of my boxes….bikers, broken, I mean seriously broken hot as heck dirty talking alpha anti-hero, dark gritty violence, and a anti-heroine that is just as broken as the anti-hero.
Trigger and Tess, are a pair with so many demons that the devil should be scared of them. But, somehow they find each other… through the darkness. As much as they try to help each other with their demons, Tess especially tries to help Trigger fight his.
“I feel like the darkness is taking you over, and I’m afraid I’m about to lose you.”…..
He pulled my hand to his mouth and kissed the back of it before he placed it to the center of his chest. “No matter what happens, know you got further than anyone has.”
So many questions and emotions in this book. And the ending….wth??! I am so glad I didn’t have to wait for book two because I would have lost my mind. I am going to keep on reading!!! (less)
Deah Lawd! This was intense.
I’ve been planning on reading this book for a while, and I’m so glad I finally did.
What an amazing story. This is more of a dark romance and it was shady, intense, twisted and oh so addicting.
Trigger is not just your moody hero. He is actually a sick, gritty, raw antihero. And I couldn’t get enough of him. He was so intense and there was this dangerous, sexy vibe around him that I couldn’t (and didn’t want to) deny.
Tess is secretive, I have only guesses about her past, and I’m so intrigued. I also have a considerable crush on her. She is so strong, she doesn’t back down, he holds her ground, but she is also smart enough to know her limits.
More often than not we see female characters posing as strong, but they are only being stupid. Not this time. Tess was strong enough to acknowledge her weaknesses and confident enough to know how much she could push her luck.
There were so many crazy things about them both, about their pasts, their demons, their fears and the ugliness the both hid. But there were also so many more things under the surface, and with a close and sensitive look, you could there were beautiful things, even if a little broken.
And they were so hot together. Their chemistry was off the charts, their feelings were undeniably growing, their loyalty was building up around them. It was beautiful to watch, even with all the gory things going on.
I’m addicted. And I can’t wait to dive into the next book and figure out what the heck is going on.
5 holy shit stars!!
This is book one of the “Devil’s Reach” series and ends in a cliffhanger. Oh man as soon as I am done with this I am on to book two!!
This book is so freaking good. It’s a definite MC book. It is raw, dirty, deadly, sexy, messed up and oh so damn right. Can I say that I am falling so damn hard for Trigger. That ending… WTF!!!
It is killing me not to know Tess’s secrets. I need them in the palm of my hand. She is driving me crazy. But I will give the girl her props, she is bad ass. When she went to the basement I was like “YES GIRL GET IT!!”!!
These two crazies put together is explosive, sexy and in my fucked up head so romantic!! Their chemistry is off the chain. Not only do these two rock your world but the whole entire club is making me fall for them.
The author gives you dual POV and I enjoy every minute of it!! I have had this book for awhile and idk what the hell made me sit on it but I purchased the other two immediately following the end of this book!!
When I first read this book, it was a little darker than I was used to reading. However, you can’t help but fall in love with Trigger and Tess and want to know what happens next. Their story is gritty and twisted, but it keeps you turning the pages. This book does end in a cliff hanger!
This book is fucked up. I mean that in the best way possible. It is gritty, violent, erotic, and hard to put down. Trigger is one tortured and dark man, so of course I loved him sooo much. I’m not gonna lie, I was debating through 70% of this book wondering if I really liked it or not because Tessa irritated the hell out of me, but I gotta give it to J.L. Drake because the last 30% or so was really fucking good.
I loved Trigger on the spot. He is the true definition of a tortured and dark soul. From his tattoos to the dark shadows he retreats to, he is everything a girl loves a hero. He was a straight up asshole and gave zero fucks. The violence within him was some next level type shit and I was shocked at how dark he would go. But I also loved that the author showed that side of him as well. Even going so far to have Tessa witness it as well. I liked the pieces of Trigger’s memories that we get glimpses of as well, because we slowly understand his character more and more. I really felt for him and much he felt he was undeserving of love and didn’t let people get close to him. He is such a great character.
Tessa is a a hot mess. I didn’t like her that much through most of this book. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the close bonds she forms with the members of the Devil’s Reach. I liked the brotherly relationship she had with Brick. It was funny and heartfelt to see how much they loved each other, he much Brick looked out for her, and the fun banter between them. Tessa is quite the ride or die as well, so I gotta give her props. The thing that annoyed me about her was that she doesn’t ever fucking listen and does the dumbest shit ever. I feel like she deliberately did stuff to piss off Trigger. Like damn girl, you can’t listen not one time. I also didn’t really feel their connection all that well, it felt more sexual to me than anything. For me Trigger to be the one who locks down his emotions and his past, I still learned a lot about his past than I did with Tessa. After reading this, I still know absolutely nothing about her past or even why/who she ran away from.
The suspense in this book really good. I liked a lot things that were going down with their club. It definitely raised the stakes with this story. I am very excited to see what happens next in this series since so much went down at the end of this book and I need to know how it all plays out.
So while Trigger didn’t immediately grab my attention at first and I was being super annoyed by the heroine, I did overall end up enjoying this book. Trigger is the best part of this book and I have to say I loved all the characters. From Trigger, Brick, Rail, Morgan, Jace, and Minnie, they were all amazing. All my MC romance readers will definitely enjoy this book.
I recently found J.L. Drake and have been devouring every book I can get my hands on. I loved this MC trilogy and how previous characters from other series were sprinkled in towards the end. I kept wondering were the connection was going to be.
This book started “almost” too dark for me. I had to give it a chance because I have been loving Drakes words. I’m so glad I hung in there. This trilogy has everything…dark, alpha, betrayal, revenge, mystery, loss, redemption, steaminess, hope, family, loyalty and more.
The characters captured me and I was hooked for the series! It was worth the read.
This is Book 1 in the Devil’s Reach MC series. This is the first book by this author that I’ve read, and I was in awe at how good it was. I saw the blurb and thought it sounded good, so I went and bought it. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy about it was I had to go buy Book 2 and 3 to get all of Trigger and Tess’s story. This was so good that I didn’t really mind buying them that much so it’s all good. This is a dark book, but it was so good. I highly recommend this book if you are into a dark MC romance. I loved it! Now I’m off to read book 2.
Wow, Trigger was some new perspective new read! I was intrigued with the blurb with few lines that spoke the crazy story.
TRIGGER was a man with no regret! I loved his presence, the humongous aura of leader with iron fist. A Man, you dont want to cross. I was drawn with his roughness despite of brutality and anger.. Trigger wasnt capable of love.. with Tess, every single darkness went into gray scale.. slowly toward the light.. Tess, I envy this woman!! She is a bad-ass woman!! she wasnt meek poor me girl mentality.. Hardshell with spikes… sassy..and funny.
I love her spirit despite that she is a broken soul beyond repair..
Trigger, it was written with deeper subjects, its not cheesy.. it was written with the emotions.. if you are looking for characters with soul.. you will find it within the chapters..The story was intense and my heart was doing the sommersault! TRIGGER and Tess werent capable of love.. Look at them! i love their connections..the gritty.. the dark side of MC.. the evil of heart.. the love beyond repair..
I am inlove with Trigger and Tess!!!
Trigger is an action packed hold on to your seats ride. Awesome characters and a great story it keeps you on the edge of your seat JL Drake has done it again!!
strong>Holy cow
Wow this book was amazing, I don’t know how many times I held my breath or was on the edge of my seat. This book was dark, raw, hot, intriguing and one of the best MC books I’ve read in a very long time. Five star read from me I wish I could give it more . You will fall in love with Trigger and Tess and the brothers of the Devils Reach MC they are bad to the bone but love each other as only a family could despite the fact there about to go to war and they have a mole in there house Trigger and his demons just want to make you give him a cuddle and love him for the f$%# up man he really is and Tess is the one to do it. Seriously do ya selves a favor and read this book.
This book, god I loved it.
Trigger (Devil’s Reach, #1) is the story of Trigger and Tess both two very damaged individuals who in each other find the solace they need and crave.
What starts as two people scratching there itch with each other gradually morphs into so much more.
Not that either of them will actually admit that aloud.
Tess is running from her past and trigger lives his each and every day with no regard for anyone but his club.
When Tess joins her best friend Matt now Brick in Santa Monica she enters a whole new world.
Brick now VP in the Devils Reach MC hires Tess to work the bar at the MC club that Trigger is Pres of.
Good job nothing phases this girl because the book is hardcore with cold-blooded murder, Torture, and dismemberment.
They actually have a slaughter room!!!!
With a drain!!!
The Devils Reach MC is the real deal and Tess soon starts to think of them as the family shes always longed for.
So this had everything you could want and as I said earlier it really doesn’t pull its punches when it comes to the action portrayed here.
I really loved both main characters.
Even though in real time I would probably pee my pants having to deal with Trigger he is one scary individual.
And Tess she was so feisty a real no shit or drama sort of girl.
Also quite willing to stand her ground when needed
She is no shrinking violet.
A real match for the explosive Trigger.
So this also had an amazing supporting cast and shock and horror it also ends on a misunderstanding and a cliff-hanger.
but fear, not I have the next book, which I’m soo off to read like now.
Cant recommend this enough if you like a real MC story it was fantastic and hooked me straight from the very beginning.
Just a warning this is not a kittens and rainbows sort of story so if you like your books a bit tamer than this “Trigger” probably isn’t the one for you, just saying.
I was provided with a review copy of “Trigger (Devil’s Reach, #1) ” By the author of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
That feeling you get when you stumble across a new to you author and their book is out of this world….It’s undescribable. This book was everything and more that you would expect from An MC read.
We have Trigger, a tortured soul since childhood and Tess who also is facing her demons. The difference between them is Trigger has his club in his life as family. Tess has no one. Brick is the only one who know about hee past. He helps her escape only to get mixed up.in the MC world.
I’ll tell you what. Be prepared to have time to read this whole thing when you sit down because there is no stopping until it’s over. Book 2 can’t come fast enough. Absolutely fantastic read.
Demons continues where Trigger (book 1) left off, this story continued pushing limits like no other MC book has. Demons was such an intense read, it left me reeling and feeling like I was there with the characters.
“Flip the switch”
Trigger and Tess are an intense couple when they are together. When two broken people have such an immense relationship they bring out the best and worst out of each other.
I have come to realize that J.L. Drake writes like no other author and I flove her for that!! She writes how I have always pictured how a MC club should be and react. I can not wait until she releases book 3 of this series, I want to know what happens. Do the Devil’s reach get everything squared away now that the mole has come out in the open, Do Trigger and Tess get their own happily ever after? I will be sitting on the edge of my seat until I am able to find out.
