I absolutely loved every single book in this series, and I can’t wait for the spins off series…TIN.
I highly recommend this series to everyone!
Ah, I am feeling sentimental now. This is the last time I am writing about Dex ans Sloane. They’ve come so far both personally and professionally. The series has spun the period of four years where every character turned from surly and angry into better and happier versions of themselves. The book ended exactly how I expected and wanted it to. There was a curious balance of romantic mushiness (Ash was a bit scary in the happy nice mode) and fierce fighting for their lives. But it’s all or nothing with Destructive Delta and all who stand behind them.
With the wedding almost here, Dex and Sloane are preparing for their honeymoon and getting settled into their new work obligations. Everything is perfect, and that means everything is about to go belly up. And it sure does. The Makhai finally make their move, secrets come to life and more than one relationship stand on the line. Dex forgets his pride and seeks help from unexpected sources. He finally sees how far he will go to protect his family and friends – very far. The mastermind behind the Makhai is just so unexpected, it’s brilliant and makes so much sense. The betrayal and anger run deep, but the THIRDS and TIN agents are the ultimate force to bring all the culprits to justice despite any feelings they have.
I loved every moment of this book – the humor, the tenderness, the passion and the support they all gave each other. The fighting was out of this world good. When Sloane and Dex married, all I felt was happiness. It’s good when everything is as it should be. It might be the end of the series for us but it’s just a beginning for them. And I wish them all the love in the world. Thank you, Ms Cochet for bringing Sloane, Dex and the THIRDS to life!
I cried. A lot.
“Tried & True” was literally the perfect conclusion to wonderful series that I’ll probably have to re-read at some point in the near future.
It had a bit of everything: pain and heartbreak, betrayals and shocking secrets, action and daring escapes, romance (LOTS of romance) and sweetness, love and friendship.
Dex and Sloane are fighting tooth and nail for their own happily ever after (and to reach their wedding intact, with all their limbs attached) but they have to deal with some pesky mercenaries, secret organizations, evil masterminds (and Wolf, who I now shamelessly love) before their big day.
I wasn’t always sold on Dex and Sloane’s decision to transition to TIN, but I’m very happy with the way Charlie Cochet has dealt with it: I know she has a new series planned for our two kickass troublemakers and I’m very curious to see what she has in store. Hopefully Destructive Delta will have a big role in that too.
The last chapters had me in tears and I’m quite a bit emotional right now: it had the perfect ending, truly satisfying with enough loose ends for a brand new series to pick up from.
I 5 starred this entire series, and for good reason. I loved these books! And this was no exception; what a great conclusion to the main series (because there’s more to come!). We get everything wrapped up in a nice little bow (with the exception of a few things that are being continued into the follow up series) and appearances from all of the characters.
It’s rare that you find a well-written and entertaining series that both follows a main couple and peppers in the stories of other characters. So many series are a collection of standalone books; I would love for more authors to write multiple books about the same couple. In this context, Charlie writes what Charlie writes best – characters you become fully invested in, an immersive universe you never want to go away, lots of awesome banter, the right balance of humor and drama, a loving and supportive found family, and … well heck, I could go on and on! I (clearly) love her style of writing.
Also, Dex might be my favorite character of all time. He’s definitely the most memorable! I love that the main character is the comedic relief as it fits him so perfectly.
No spoilers, but we’ll continue to follow Dex, Sloane and co. in the follow up series!
There was a lot of time spent on closure in this one, which is completely understandable as we’re sort of closing the THIRDS chapter of Dex and Sloane’s crazy ride. The way it was included was a bit eye-roll inducing because it was a lot of touchy-feely stuff that honestly gave way too many hints as to the bad guy in this particular book. Extolling someone’s virtues a little too heavily felt a bit clumsy to me and while I think there was a better way to go about things, I will admit that it was particularly effective to demonstrate the depth of betrayal everyone will have felt when Dex figured out the connections.
It wouldn’t be a Dex and Sloane story without a ton of crazy action and a lot of steamy moments and in that Tried & True did not disappoint. The crazy action involved a few more changes in Dex’s therian expression and I can’t properly convey my excitement for how totally badass he is and is sure to become as he takes everything from TIN that he possibly can. Despite that bit of awesomeness, I think there was a little too much action going on and it detracted from the wedding we’ve all been waiting for for at least three books prior. The setting worked, the betrayal, kidnappings, and explosions all came together well, but it did feel like overkill because it was all of it only broken up by Dex and Sloane having the emotional parts of their journey summed up in long pages. Well, there were the sexy times, but they didn’t contribute enough of a balance for my liking.
I’m sad to be ending this part of the journey, but I’m also truly excited for where we’re going. With so many warnings to Dex and Sloane of the darkness that awaits them and cautions against letting that darkness swallow Dex’s light I just know we’re in for even more crazy as we follow them into the TIN chapter of their lives. We’ve gotten so big up to now that I don’t know where we’ll go from here, but I think I can imagine some breadth and depth waiting for us and I don’t imagine a better way to move on from the THIRDS.
Par for the course in the series, this part doesn’t disappoint! So many emotions, so much suspence and thrill! Loved every book in this series and loved this one equally. So amazing!
In my opinion, Charlie Cochet is a genius in the plot-development business. In 10 amazing books she created a world in which all the intrigue, mystery, action, danger, spies and government agents mixed up with spicy MM relationships, friendship, romance, love and hot scenes. But the most amazing part in these stories is that all of them are about shifters and the politics, fear, hate and discrimination that could happen in the real world if we discovered they are between us. Ms Cochet created a paranormal world so human in nature that trapped me since book 1 and continued throughout ten books until the very end. Even if in this book you could find many answers and a kind-of-closure for Dex’s and Sloane’s story, really this final is just the beginning. I hope that we can have many spin-offs and short stories following this series, because something so intense could not finish so soon. I am going to miss everything, the characters, their banter and close friendship, the wonderful plots, the lovely couples formed during the stories, the good and the bad or even the evil (or at the end not so evil). If you are new to the shifter world this series is ideal to fall in love with the genre. Simply Brilliant!!
Everlasting bonds
Let me the count the ways I love Dex and Sloane, Destructive Delta and this series…on second thought there’s not enough time or numbers. I’ll have to rely on amazing, incredible, heartwarming, funny and fantastic as a start. There are a lot of emotions in this book and they all hit me in the feels. Such an epic conclusion to a phenomenal series and still so many surprises await us.
Sloane and Dex are so sinfully hot but their love is what gets me every time. “This here, us, is home…you’re my sanctuary…” No matter what is thrown at them (and they face some troublesome situations in this book) as long as they are together and have their family at their side they can accomplish anything. Not to mention Dex can be very scary; be afraid villains, very afraid. He and Sloane sure know how to party though and I must admit I really love Wolf. I can’t wait for his book and all the ones in the TIN series. Until then this book was packed full of suspense and excitement and was a purrfect ending to the series.
Tried & True by Charlie Cochet is the tenth and final book in the THIRDS series. Loose ends tied up, new beginnings about to start, secrets uncovered and love prevails…. this story is emotional, and amazing. This series has taken us on a journey and this conclusion is everything I hoped it would be. I Loved every moment!
Awwwwwww we finally get the wedding – THIRDS style! All the action, all the drama, and the big finale while watching Sloane and Dex exchange their vows. This book was just an explosion of all the feelings and excitement, and I adored it. Sloane and Dex are one of my favorite couples ever.
