< A Friends to Lovers Stand Alone Romance< from USA Today bestselling author, MJ Fields
I hated men …
In my last life, anyway.
<Savvy Sutton
I call her Savanah.
It isn’t her name, but it made total sense.
She didn’t know who she was, yet she held on to the lies she so desperately wanted to believe in, to save a part of herself.
She tried to fight her attraction for me, and I made damn sure that didn’t happen.
Then …
she tricked me.
Sometimes, the greatest love stories grow from lies.

Hot dam. Jumped in and got all the feels. What a roller coaster of a ride. Patrick is one amazing compassionate sexy sure of himself alpha. Savvy is one
smart compassionate woman. They make for one interestingly complicated couple. Savvy has a lot of personal baggage. I could not wait to see where they would go. Loved the twists in this story. They are definitely each other’s better half. A must read.
Tricks is the son of Xavier and Taelyn.
He is his father’s son, passionate and driven.
Savvy is feisty, sassy, raw, and has her secrets.
Love how their friendship developed, the banter, the tension.
The ending was bit rushed.
I’ll just start by saying that there is no cheating in this book and whilst it could be read on a stand alone basis, I would personally recommend reading the previous books in this series.
This story for me is about a young lady, Savvy, who without realising, is so lost in the world and we see her embark on quite the healing journey. This journey is triggered by Patrick Steel who on the whole is actually very mature albeit as any young many who experiences heartbreak and loss will act out in the most immature of ways. I really loved how the story primarily focuses on their building friendship and the to and fro they go through while Savvy in particular starts to find herself and I thought this really helped me to connect to them as they become a couple. There was a cheeky little twist added which provided some drama but for me the ending all happened a little quickly and I really wish we had more of them as a romantic couple. Overall though another enjoyable read from this next generation of Steels.
5 star Review Tricked Steel (Steel Crew #5) by M.J.Fields
If you are a fan of the original Steel series then you will be as excited as I was to jump into Tricked Steel and get to know more of the second generation of the Steel family.
It was fun to be back in the Steel world and Tricked Steel was a fabulous addition to the series. This time it is Patrick ( Tricks) Steel and Savvy Sutton’s story which was at times an emotional roller coaster of a read.
There is something about Savvy that calls to Tricks and he isn’t sure why but he knows that he has to follow his gut instinct. I fell hard and fast for Tricks and the woman who is perfect for him, feisty, sassy Savvy.
My heart broke for Savvy at times, she continues to believe the lies she has been told to protect herself, even though she doesn’t really know who she really is. I found that so sad at times. There were times I laughed, times I swooned, times I was brought to tears but above all I was entertained.
The banter between Tricks and Savvy was amusing and there is an obvious connection between them, if only Tricks can prove to her that he can be trusted. He may have a past but Savvy is the one for him and all bets are off as he focuses on her. An added bonus of course is the appearance of other members of the Steel clan, it just adds an additional layer of enjoyment to the story.
Patrick Steel known as Tricks is from the second generation Steel Brothers headed by the most wonderful Mama Steel.
I totally loved their fathers books and now I am so enjoying their offspring’s , living in a different world than their fathers did .
Patrick has a very lovable nature, is extremely caring , he likes girls , he has a past but who hasn’t !
He meets a beautiful brown eyed girl ,Savvy Sutton is her name and being sassy is her nature..
There is so much to know about Savvy she carries so much of her past around with her it weighs her down.
Not really knowing who she is or where she is going in her life, it is extremely hard .
Patrick knows what he likes and Savvy is on his radar….
I great storyline that is written in MJ Fields style which I always devour. And enjoy …
Everyone will love Patrick —— a lovely human … I would easily recommend this book…..
Thanks MJ
This is an honest review for an arc received.
“Well, that’s going to make me try to make you mine a bit harder, but I’m not one to shy away from doing the work when it comes to getting what I want.”
Savvy Sutton is a head-strong, attitude wielding, feminist. She hates the entitlement that many of her classmates seems to have. Although she puts Patrick in that same class, he quickly shows her that just because you have money, that money doesn’t make the man. When Tricks inserts himself into her life, will she be able to resist him?
“I’ll never lie to you, so truth? I like the way you react to me. I like the way you look at me.”
Patrick “Tricks” Steel is a natural born protector. Even though this makes up a lot of his character, he also believes that sometimes you need to fight your own battles. He is instantly taken with the sassy, attitude giving barista. Tricks proves to Savvy that not all men are bad, and that given the chance he will be someone she can depend on. When a turn of events happen to Savvy, will Tricks be the man she needs him to be?
“Only girl I’ve ever said I love you to, only girl I’ll ever love. Only girl I want forever with.”
5 absolutely amazing stars!! I’ve waited for Tricks’ book since this series started. Savvy gave him a run for his money. I love the dynamic between the two. You see Tricks amazing heart, confidence and his never back down attitude. Savvy was lost in a way, not knowing who she really was. He helps her understand herself in so many ways. I love how even after the events that rattled Savvy, their love never died. Bravo MJ Fields! I thought Justice would be a tough act to follow, but Patrick just stole the spotlight. #foreversteel #steelcrew
“Makes perfect sense. Sometimes, I need music, and sometimes, I need lyrics.”
This is one of the best second generation books I have read this year and it’s my favourite read so far in this great series. I fell hook, line and sinker for Patrick ( Tricks) Steel and I loved the strong sassy Savvy Sutton who didn’t want anything to do with her rich elite college mates.
Savvy doesn’t really know who she is, she holds on to the lies told to her to protect and save herself so why is Tricks so attracted to the girl who works part time in the local coffee shop to make ends meet.
Tricks doesn’t understand why he is drawn to this stunning girl but what he does know id she needs to open ip and trust the people around her if she is ever going to be truly happy and he is willing to show her that not all men are bad…..
This story touched me on so many levels, I loved the characters and I loved the banter they shared, I loved how Tricks becomes Savvy’s protector even when she didn’t want him too, the determination to show her he wasn’t like any man she has known was hot and exhilarating, I loved catching up with the rest of the Steel family without them taking over Tricks and Savvy’s journey and I was captivated by that journey, in fact this book hit my kindle at 3am and as soon as I picked it up, I knew I wasn’t going to put it down until I had read the final line. This is one of those special reads that stays with you long after the final words have been read, it’s got the perfect mix of love, drama and humour and it will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout as you get to know these guys and you get to see just why Savvy behaves the way she does but not until the final few chapters so be prepared and have time to finish what you start because I guarantee you won’t be able to put Tricked Steel down.
Loved it Ms Fields, great job and looking forward to the next instalment in the Steel Crew.
