It’s the height of summer in Las Vegas. Everyone believes the serial killer Seven of Spades is dead–except Levi Abrams and Dominic Russo–and it’s back to business as usual. For Levi, that means investigating a suspicious overdose at the Mirage that looks like the work of a high-class call girl, while Dominic pursues a tough internship with a local private investigator. The one bright spot for … for both of them is their blossoming relationship.
But things aren’t so simple. Soon Levi is sucked into a dangerous web of secrets and lies, even as his obsession with the Seven of Spades intensifies. Dominic knows that Levi isn’t crazy. He knows the Seven of Spades is still out there, and he’ll do anything to prove it. But Dominic has his own demons to battle, and he may be fighting a losing war.
One thing is certain: the Seven of Spades holds all the cards. It won’t be long before they show their hand.

“Trick Roller” was a stunning and gripping sequel. I think I loved it even more than the first book. It’s packed with action and mystery, with lots of lovable and peculiar and interesting characters and scorching hot romance that made me sigh and blush.
Seven of Spades, our mysterious serial killer, takes a back seat during the events narrated in this second novel, with a different murder mystery on the frontlines occupying Levi’s mind. But they’re always there, hovering, to remind us (and Levi and Dominic) that they definitely have not been caught yet. And boy, that ending was chilling and scary and I’m not sure my heart will be ready for the next novels.
Levi and Dominic’s relationship is much more present this time around: during this book they’re still in the early stages of their relationship but they already grace us with tons of mouth-watering scenes, packed with sexual tension and a huge amount of chemistry, and also some of the sweetest and nicest moments ever: they both care for and respect one another so damn much. They’re compatible and like-minded, and the power balance between them is evenly matched and that is probably the best thing about them.
Since I’ve purposely spoiled myself by reading the blurbs of the next novels in this series, I know that book number three is going to destroy me so I’ll take a quick break and devour them all SOON, in quick succession.
Read every book in the series. Loved all the different characters and twists!
This is the 2nd book in seven of Spades series and it cannot be read as a standalone. I love this book so fucking much. I loved seeing their relationship develop. All those small, sweet moments and the mind blowing sex!
I love the mystery/suspense! I’m a huge fan of that and it’s perfectly balanced with the romance. Levi and Dominic have amazing chemistry together. They are perfect for each other. I especially love the way Dominic treats Levi. Unlike Stanton, Levi’s ex, he doesn’t think Levi needs protection or needs to stop being a cop because it’s dangerous. He knows that Levi can take care of himself.
We get to see more of the side characters from Kill Game. Carlos and Jasmine are absolutely adorable together. I also loved seeing more of Martine, Levi’s partner. It ends on an intense cliffhanger plot-wise and I can’t wait to read the next book.
A wonderful continuation of the Kill Game. This book offers us a first row seat of Las Vegas finest Levi and still in training Dominic’s lives. Their relationship is on up and up and nothing could go wrong except that they both know that Seven of Spades is still at large but to speak of their suspicions would be a career suicide for Levi and possible ridicule for Dominic. So, covert investigations and months later Levi is no closer to the truth as frustration and fear mounts.
I love Dominic. He is ever the gentleman, so considerate and understanding. I am so happy that Levi chose him after his break up with Stanton because Dominic really understands who Levi is and why he needs to do the job he does. He also understands that under the cool facade there is a passionate man ready to be explored and conquered. Levi is rough-edged and always in control making people think he is unapproachable and insincere while this mask hides nothing but vulnerable core and too much anger. He has good heart and compassionate nature as evidenced when he gives help to those who need it with nothing in return. The road is not smooth for both of them – Dominic struggles with his gambling addiction coming way too close to its source for comfort and Levi is struggling with the fact that nobody, not even his own partner believe him when he says that Seven of Spades is not done with them yet.
The case Martine and Levi investigate this time is on a timer – there is a suspect and the evidence is pointing right at her but something does not add up. It’s up to them to find the real killer when there are plenty of people who wanted the man dead. It takes skill, persistence and Krav Maga to get the answers they seek and boy was that fun. I loved how Levi and Martine worked together, so in tune as only long term partners can be. I enjoyed the investigative process and all the tension and rage it provided.
The end shows how devious the law and the court system can be, how any big or small detail can spin a web of lies to implicate an innocent person and cast doubt at their character. But all is not lost as Seven of Spades finally makes their move proving to all and sundry that Levi was right but what does it matter when another person is already dead no matter how much he might have deserved it. A very good suspenseful plot. I highly recommend it!
Part of a series you must read in order. Kill Game is first, then Trick Roller, then Cash Plays then One Eyed Royals.
