Ladies adn Gentelmen!!!
Dear Max and Lovely Monroe – Girls I love You!
I just knew…. till maybe FOREVER that only this 2 crazy author duo can write rom-com with the strippers in background… and OMG !!! Only Max Monroe can make me laugh so hard, that my husband starting to look at me very, very confused with a face “What the…?”.
Trick Play is written by Max Monroe, right ??? I was SURE that during reading I’ll be at least snoring loud…
That’s why this time I was smarter and started to read new girl’s book when I was home … not in some full of people tram, in my way back from work, like it was mostly in the past.
Sooo, lets starts from the begining !
Trixie vel Lana that’s my kind of girl !!! She’s funny and sweet… in maxandmonroe’s way but she’s also brave. She knows exactly how to trick our lovely Cam and show him that she isn’t next “simply” girl.
Cam might be cocky, and full of himself… but come on ladies and gentelman – he’s just sweet kitty inside, just like the others Max and Monroe’s man.
I always love to come back to The Maverick and it’s crazy stories, specially that we have here other characters which I know from the other books.
Lana and Cam rules in this one and for sure this madness between this couple is worth Your time.
I love/like/adore everything what’s this book has inside and that’s because I have a lot of fun.
fun read
I absolutely LOVE Cam and Lana. LOVE THEM.
Cam has been a favorite of mine from the beginning and I am so happy we got his story.
His is one for the books, that’s for sure.
ARC received for an honest review
Cam’s story is here! I repeat, Cam’s story is here!
Now, I know absolutely nothing about the game of NFL, and couldn’t tell a tight end from a loose one (well, actually, I have a very loose and flabby end!) however I am a sucker for a sports romance and love these Mavericks
I found Trick Play wasn’t as light and fluffy as Wild Cat and Pick Six, however this did not make me love this book any less. Some of the things dealt with in this story make it a little bit deeper and darker.
I freaking adore Cam. I have liked him in the first two books, however I love his story.
“Trixie” is amazing – as a stripper and as everything else (and yes, there is an “everything else”). She is smart and sassy and so much more that you think.
I don’t want to give anything away about Cam and “Trixie’s” story, but there is so much more to this story than just them falling for each other. It will keep you wondering what will happen to them next.
I love love loved getting more of Quinn and Sean and their ladies – they had my laughing at times. There is also some great set up for the final Maverick’s book, which is all about Leo.
Sweet, sexy, smart and funny, I adored Trick Shot from the first word to the last.
I can’t wait to see what this duo bring us next
Story about a football player who meets a woman at a bachelor party held at a strip club All he knows is her first name but with perseverance he finds that her real name is Lana Only to find out later he’s in love with her but she withheld vital information she’s a police working undercover
Max Monroe never fails to write a super fun rom com. The characters are great. I wish they were real because they would be a blast to hang out with
Another fantastic read in this series! Cam is totally swoon worthy, sexy and just a great guy. Lana and Cam’s story is filled with funny banter, chemistry and a twist… Felt more contemporary than romcom and definitely worth the read. I highly recommend this book. Can be read as a stand-alone but better if read in order.
Love this book! The male main character is so lovable! And the lady main is so relatable!
Such a fun story!
It’s so easy to fall in love with it since the very beginning. And how could you not? If we have Cam in full charming mode from the start. He’s sexy, funny and swoon worthy.
I loved how exciting the storyline was. It has a few twists and turns that I never saw coming. Trick Play has a intriguing aspect, so sometimes, as you turn the pages, you feel on the edge of your seat and afraid and giddy all at once tofind out what’s going to happen.
And Trixie? She’s remarkable. She is funny and smart. Cam never stood a chance against her. They are so adorable, they had my heart beating faster and I couldn’t get enough of them. Their journey has a bit of everything. An emotional touch, hilarious and deep moments, and of course some hot ones.
Sizzling, heartfelt and fun.
Another amazing read by the amazing Max Monro. Adored Lana and Cam so much…

The third book in the Mavericks Tackle Love Series takes us on the journey of Cam Mitchell finding love. However what we don’t expect is for him to find love falling into his lap, or in this case a lap dance with a stripper by the name of Trixie. Their story is less about the football aspect and more about two lonely people who have put their careers first. As Cam tries to find out what lays beneath the g strings, stilettos and a fake name, Trixie tries to keep her distance. However, this might be a case of the heart wants what it wants. As secrets are discovered and hearts are put on the line this might be the hardest play either of these two have had to make. A book packed with emotion, wit and steamy moments.
4 out of 5 stars
I love Max Monroe. I mean they are the funniest writing duo ever. I haven’t read a book of theirs that I didn’t enjoy…and Trick Play is no different!
Cam has been hanging in the background while we’ve read about Quinn and Sean and we finally got his story…and what a story it was!!! From the first page, I adored him and his whole self. He was a great guy for his teammates and stood up for a woman he didn’t even know. He was swoony, sexy, and just an all around good guy.
So, why only 4 stars? Because I didn’t really love Lana/Trixie. She made me angry more than she made me happy. I hated all that she was keeping to herself and she just wasn’t the typical Max Monroe heroine (at least for me).
The story was all the things you love in a MM novel – funny, sexy, engaging, heart-warming, and so much more. I can’t wait to read more about the Mavericks!!
*** I voluntarily read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
5 The Path to Love Was Worth It All Stars!!!
I loved everything about Cam’s story!!! We’ve been waiting for this gorgeous hunk to fall and fall he did hard and fast!!! The problem is there’s so much to his girl than meets the eye and this makes the chase that much more swooney!!!
The fact that Trixie is a woman that’s a stripper doesn’t seem to deter our man from getting to know her and make her fall as hard as he has…there’s a few things that stand in their way, the least of which is her entire “family” which are all men and very protective. And as much as Trixie wants to fall for our boy, because their chemistry is through the roof, something is holding her back….and this where Max and Monroe throw us a curve ball!!!
This book was so much fun to read!! I loved Cam so much more when this book was finished if that’s even possible. The fact that he and Trixie have so much fun together while also delivering the heat and we get setup for the next book left me with a smile on my face.
*3 Stars*

I don’t like to say this, but unfortunately with Trick Play, I just couldn’t really get into it. This is a first for me with this series and Max Monroe, but something about the book just didn’t hook me the way I normally expect with their stories.
That said, there’s nothing wrong with the story itself, or the plot. It’s all about wondering when Trixie will come clean with Cam, and if or how they will end up together. There are great secondary characters in terms of Trixie’s family, and of course we get some glimpses of the Mavericks as well.
I just felt that I didn’t connect with the characters or feel that invested in their story. I’m wondering if this was just me though, and where I’m at with my reading right now.
I have seen ALOT of positive reviews for this book, so I’m thinking I’m one of the odd ones out here. The whole idea of the storyline is a good one, and intriguing in itself, something a little different for this series from Max Monroe.
I still look forward to reading the next book in this series, and whatever else comes next from Max Monroe.
Holy Stone Cold vibes Batman! I’ve enjoyed the other books in this series a lot but this one was on another level. It had its laugh out loud moments that we’ve come to love and expect from these crazy co writing collaborators but this one brought the angst and tension with some sexy, swoon and humor thrown in for good measure and I LOVED IT! I couldn’t read it fast enough. You’ll fall in love with Cam and admire the hell out of Lana by the end of their story. Thank you Max Monroe for another great read. Looking forward to Leo’s book.
Trick Play doesn’t have the same feel as the previous two stories in the Mavericks Tackle Love series; because it’s the NFL’s off-season, football isn’t part of the storyline’s main focus, and even though Cam Mitchell’s celebrity status puts him in the public eye, in his story, it’s not about him being a professional football player…it’s more about him putting himself out there emotionally and falling for a woman who holds her truths and her secrets a little too close to the vest, preventing him from getting to know who she truly is and proving to her how good they could be together if she’d not only tell him her name but if the small moments of openness and honest they share become a part of their everyday life.
There’s so much more to Cam Mitchell than how he’s portrayed himself in Quinn and Sean’s stories, and that’s one aspect of a series that I adore because even though readers might think they have a handle on the type of people the supporting characters are, when they become the heroes of their own stories, readers learn about them on a deeper level, and more than not, it proves just how complex and well-rounded they are, and it’s that multifaceted nature that tends to endear misunderstood characters to many readers.
Cam definitely lays himself bare in Trick Play when it comes to his developing feelings for Trixie; he never judges her or belittles her due to her profession and even though Trixie’s body was the first thing that drew Cam to her, it’s clear in the things he says and does that he wants her for more than her outside appearance – he wants to know her mind, her heart, her secrets, her truths, and even her lies, proving over and over what kind of man he is and just how smitten he already is for a woman who he does not know very well at all.
Trixie is a complex heroine – one that, at first, I didn’t understand, but the more I read, the more I learned that I was supposed to see Trixie and her facade at face value and then when her voice comes into the story, readers get her truths, her secrets, and more importantly, her feelings for a certain tight end who refuses to give up on the chemistry that instantaneously sizzled between them despite her every effort to prevent anything from happening due to risks Cam does’t even understand.
Due to the nature of Trixie’s job, whatever interactions and connections they share happen in private, and it’s in those moments, the ones where Cam and Trixie can’t keep their hands off of one another and bare so much more than their clothing that Cam and Trixie as well as readers recognize exactly how much they mean to each other and how all of the differences between their worlds and their situations are no match for a hard working and focused professional football player because he doesn’t believe in defeat…not one little bit.
I loved Cam and Trixie’s story; Max Monroe did a great job of illustrating Trixie’s conflicted feelings when it comes to Cam and where her focus needs to be, but readers, unlike Cam, get the complete picture of Trixie’s life, including the support system she has that has guided her, her entire life, and while she frustrated me with the secrets she kept and the assumptions she made, the authors explain Trixie’s motives and reasons quite well; for me, it was having to witness Cam question himself and feel like he wasn’t enough when he has proven just how amazing he is when he puts everything he feels into claiming the woman he desperately wants to be by his side.
Max Monroe continue to entertain me with their sassy heroines and cocky heroes as well as their comical, sexy, and a bit dramatic storylines, and now that they’ve introduced readers to Leo Landry, I’m more than ready to see him fall for a girl who is more than happy to put him in his place;)
4.5 Poison Apples
Another Amazing read by Max Monroe. BTW how hot is that cover…
Trick Play is about Cam Mitchell who we have definitely come to adore and Lana Simone. The title of the book fits absolutely perfect with the story.
Lana and Cam’s world’s are so different. They are the opposite of each other and yet they have this undeniable attraction.
Lana can’t really let Cam in because of her job not only that she is hiding a huge ass secret.
Watching Cam break down her walls and get himself into her heart was amazing. He knew what he wanted and went after it.
If you’re a Max Monroe fan go in Blindly I promise you won’t go wrong. These two are amazing. Their story is nail-biting good.
Enjoy Hot Alpha Cam
The Mavericks are back, and their Tight End Cameron Mitchell a/k/a Cam is so much fun! Cam takes one for the team at Quinn’s bachelor party. Well more than one, lap dance that is. Cam is intrigued by one of the dancers Trixie. Trixie is so much more than a exotic dancer. Cam sees her, he looks into her eyes instead of at her body. Cam believes there is more to Trixie and wants to get to know her. As you read along you will find the humor that Max Monroe is known for, but there is so much more to Cam and Trixie’s story.
I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book but I still bought the book. It was that good!
Another score for the great duo that is Max Monroe! Cam Mitchell made me have so many feels. He made me laugh, swoon, and when his heart ached, I could feel it too. He was so damn charming and I loved how connected Lana and he were from the start. The banter between Trixie and Magic Mike was adorable and made me kind of long for those early stages of falling. Cam honestly surprised me. He was way more than I expected! Lana was a strong, independent woman and it was nice to see her make mistakes and learn how to figure out how to balance work and her relationship with Cam.
You need to tackle Trick Play!
I loved Wild Cat and Pick Six, but Trick Play may be my favorite Mavericks book yet. Have no fear if you know nothing about football, while they play for this amazing team, the sport takes a backseat to this fantastic standalone love story. It’s of course hilarious in part, has tons of heart, but it had a little bit more angst than I was expecting, and it made me fall even harder for Cam and “Trixie.” They may have started in an unconventional way, but man you could feel the heat coming off the pages from the first moment Cam laid his eyes on the raven-haired, yet hardened beauty in Skins. Too bad for him that the night would end with him getting arrested. Can he come back and win her heart, and maybe even her name?
These two made my heart both ache and swell, they were combustible together. The story flowed, I loved seeing previous characters, and Cam and Trixie will make you believe that love can conquer anything. This book deserves more than 5 stars!
