It’s the Season of the Spinster – the first book in a brand new series! Just how far is the lady willing to go… Lady Triana Abernathy knew she was destined to be a spinster ever since the scandal surrounding her father the night of her debut ball. It’s only through her brother’s good connections that their family is even accepted in polite society. While Triana cares nothing for the ton, the … for the ton, the arrival of the Duke of Chiltern changes everything. He is everything she might have ever dreamed of in a husband, but she knows that something isn’t quite right about his sudden resurgence in London. Thankfully, she’s willing to do her part in uncovering his secrets.
To learn what the gentleman is hiding?
Gabriel Wilde, the Duke of Chiltern, is on an undercover mission to find out who is behind the illegal smuggling in the city. Upon his father’s death, he returns to society under the perfect guise of assuming the title, believing the culprit to be within the ton. With the help of a trusted colleague, Gabriel believes that when he’s done, he can move on with his life – away from England and the unpleasant memories that go along with it. But when he meets Triana, he finds he’s not quite as eager to leave as he once was. Unfortunately, the only problem is trying to keep her out of trouble. So he does the only thing he can think of to keep her occupied – seduction.

This book kept me on my toes, and I enjoyed reading this book.
Predictable
Interesting, but not very believable.
I read all three books in this series and enjoyed them very much.
Loved the story and the characters!
3.5 STARS
Well I did enjoy the story line and the secondary character’s, not so much the H/h. I felt little connection to them. The h knows he is a Rogue of the first order. She sees and hears him with a widow. Does this make her want to ignore him – of course not. She doesn’t mind that he takes a lot of advantages with her – just let her be another notch on his resume.
So that was a huge turn off for me. He never promised her anything and she doesn’t care. She is to be betrothed to an awful man, per her mother’s wishes. I disliked the mother with a passion. Near the end of the story, the h has a moment where she understands her mother and why she did what she did. Nope, didn’t redeem herself in my eyes.
There is lovemaking etc, prior to marriage heat level 4.5 out of 5. Since I didn’t feel a connection to them, it was just sex.
No cheating, no cliffhanger for our H/h but we are left to wonder about a friend of hers, HEA, little on romance but a lot of steam. I rated this higher because there was a lot to the story line that held my interest. Wish I could say the same for the h/H. (ljb)
Tabetha Waite’s book, Triana’s Spring Seduction made its debut with a bang.
Oh wow! Oh wow! I had to take a moment and a breather, so that I could carefully articulate my words of what I wanted to say about this book. Then I said, to hell with it.
Speak from the heart girl. Here we go. AHHHH! I so loved this book. This book has all that I’m looking for in a romance novel, and then some.
Tabetha’s writing was genuine and spoke to the heart. I was able to connect with each character on their journey through the book. The scenes and the details of the book were explained very well. Allowing me to play out each scene in my mind as I read the book. The book had thieves, secret spies, dangerous men, a crazy Marchioness, a make you sick lord, dashing men, over protective brothers, heartless ma ma’s, spinster ladies, and a Duke whose a sexy rake. Mix that together in a romance novel and what to you have people?
A damn good book! Let’s get to the story. I know that you want just a taste of it right? Sit down and listen. First, Gabriel and Triana meet on a balcony.
What happens next?! She up chucks in a potted plant! What?! Well it’s on from there. Intense passionate love affairs here and there.
Two betrothals. Someone gets shot. A forced wedding. Fights take place left and right. A slap that I know left a mark that didn’t go away anytime soon. People being kidnapped and a crazy, Marchioness who thinks the world owes her her due. And through all this Gabriel is the hopeless romantic Duke that will do anything to have his Triana. I recommend this book with two snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers- read on!
I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
Triana’s Spring Seduction is a strong start for Tabetha Waite’s new series, Season of the Spinster. Gabriel and Triana make an odd, but wonderful couple. This tale of the spy and the spinster is an adventure full of romance, intrigue, action, danger, and fun. There are spies, smugglers, murderers, kidnappers, one particularly evil lady who wants Gabriel, and a lecherous suitor determined to have Triana. This is an exciting story with some twists and turns and a hold-your-breath ending. The epilogue teases with a mystery. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next story in the series.
Spies, smugglers, and Mama trying to force marriage to an older, repulsive man. Enjoyable story. I received an ARC of this book.
A fabulous introduction to what is going to be a very exciting and entertaining series. “Triana thought that it really wasn’t fair that any one man should be possessed of such a handsome visage.” Love at first sight or infatuation? How can a ladies interest go wrong from here… spies, underground tunnels, adventures and romance. The trail leads to a fabulous story.
Also, I can not wait to read Travell’s adventure.

The first book in a new series & a lovely starter, as well as a lovely romance it had, spies, smuggling & intrigue. It flowed effortlessly & there were also strong characters. I loved both Triana & Gabriel, she’s apt to get into trouble, she’s intelligent, feisty certainly not the meek demure debutante. Gabriel is just sighworthy, toe curlingly gorgeous & I loved it that he fell hard & fast for Triana & loved her for herself. I look forward to the rest of the series
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
“Suddenly, every nerve ending abruptly came alive, making her breath catch and her pulse to thunder erratically. There was no mistaking that towering stance or the broad shoulders that belonged to Gabriel Wilde, the enigmatic, Duke of Chiltern. Triana thought that it really wasn’t fair that any one man should be possessed of such a handsome visage…he exuded a raw magnetism. In short he was absolutely sinful.”
Can I just say I adored Gabriel? While his exterior visage was charming, underneath he was he calculated his every move.. He was on an undercover mission for the Crown to uncover an illegal smuggling ring. Thus his real reason for emerging back into the Ton, that he preferred to do without. Having just inherited the title with the passing of his father, he could care less about taking over the Dukedom.
Triana only attended the balls because her mother was set on marrying her off… to a disgusting older man. On this night she drank a little too much wine and ended up on the terrace to get some fresh air. Of course none other than Gabriel was there and as he came out of the shadows and said “Lovely evening, is it not?” she could only stand transfixed, her eyes on his lips as he smoked a cheroot. “You know,” he began in a low almost caressing drawl, “it’s been my experience that looking at a man that way will only lead to trouble.”
Have I gotten your attention? This was only in the first few pages! Just imagine an entire story about these two and their adventuresome journey to their happy ending!
Tabetha Waite always draws me in quickly by her insightful descriptions and characters that come alive. She has an amazing gift of telling a story that will leave you sighing at the end. Only wanting more… Excited that this is the first in this new series and there is so much to look forward to!! Perfect!
The start to Tabetha Waite’s new series is going to be a blast!!! It’s a delicious Regency Romp with loads of humor, intrigue, villains, delightful characters . The hero, Gabriel, Duke of Chiltern, has returned to London after the death of his father. Supposedly to assume the Dukedom. He has been working for the Crown as a spy. He returned to continue his investigation of a smuggling operation which the leader is a member of London’s Ton. Gabriel goes to a ball to do some investigating and runs into his friends sister, Lady Katrina Abernathy. She is a spinster who, after a scandal regarding her father, is only allowed in societal functions because of her brother. Mayhem seems to follow her. When these two meet there is something about them that is perfection. A left and right foot. They are wonderful together. I loved this and the shenanigans these two got into. I was hooked from page one till the end. I can’t wait to read the next book. I was gifted this book and am voluntarily reviewing. My thoughts and opinions are my own freely given. A five star read!!! Bravo Mrs. Waite!!
Triana has given up on love. Only her brother’s good name allows her entry into society after her father’s tremendous fall from grace. But when she sees Lord Chiltern across the dance floor, she is smitten. But when she meets him, she senses something. What is his secret? And how does her brother figure into it?
Fun and seductive with a dash of intrigue. A great start to this new series!

My review :
Will a determined spinster turn the wheel for a different future than the one already written for her …
I confess the beginning was a bit erratic for me as there were many changes of scene.
I loved the background plot and the hero, even the ugliness of the villain was quite attractive.
But I could not relate with the heroine, here I do not fault the author as I have read other books by her and I loved her work.
While I do not mind a klutz or a clumsy character as they can add fun to a tale, but a protagonist who jumps straight in any trap set for her or acts without a thought at the outcome or the risk, it is definitively not someone I will cheer with. Plus to me, she appears rather meek and insipid, unable to stand to her mother when she believes to be witty and clever.
I quite preferred at time her cynic American friend.
Hopefully she gains some sense along the story but she has a long way and many many errors on her road. I might have regarded her with more indulgence if she had been younger, which she was not.
Thus, I could not understand her ire against her bother, she should have been proud of his occupation. Her anger shows her immaturity, being upset at her brother for hiding the real spectrum of his activities, and if he could have shared that kind of job line, shouting everywhere what he was doing of his days and nights for everyone listening, what was the goal of the secret agents services.
Gabriel is doing his job, he is a man on a mission until lust interfered and derailed everything while everyone turns a blind eyes to Tirana, he sees her and is instantly smitten.
Sure, to fulfill his role, he acts rather harshly when he needs to play as he is expected. Still, immediately after he seeks her to reassure her.
He is a good man, determined to take on his duty to the crown, but he resents his title.
Why he struggles between his chemistry with Triana, his assigned mission and what he thought he will never do but is slowly revising.
Mrs Tabetha Waite offers here a wide variety of protagonists, why I am very intrigued by Triana’s friends, and curious where their own story will lead us.
Triana’s mother is quite a challenge, and I so loved to dislike her, I would never have been able to forgiven her, as whatever Triana’s faults were and they were plenty, her mother always seems to see the worth in her daughter and by selling her to the first bidder to limit scandal, she reaches the no-return limits.
It is a 3.75 stars rounded up to 4 for this first in a series, now what is awaiting the heroine’s friend?
I was granted an advance copy by the author, prior to it I preordered my own.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Starring Lady Triana Abernathy and Gabriel Wilde, the Duke of Chiltern. Romance… and intrigue…. and scandals… oh my!!
Triana is a spinster and a scandal magnet… and a little too smart for her own good. Gabriel is the new duke of Chiltern who does not want his title… he’s just happy being a spy for the crown. Triana’s instincts are telling her there’s more to Gabriel than what he presents to the world. Her fascination and curiosity for Gabriel lands her smack dab in the middle of the smuggle investigation that he and her brother and are assigned on. Now Gabriel is just trying to do his job, but Triana is causing a delicious distraction… and all he wants to do is protect her (and kiss her every chance he gets).
Together these two make the perfect pair. I totally love their cat and mouse chase… they definitely kept the chemistry sizzling between them. I mean, Gabriel and Triana are haaaawt, mmmm’kay? Definitely gave me all the feels as they worked their way towards their HEA (amidst running from the bad guys, just trying to stay alive… oh and, avoiding unwanted fiancés).
I thorough enjoyed this story. So SQUEEEEEE worthy!! I absolutely love Tabetha Waite’s books…. she certainly knows how to entertainment and keep us glued to the pages. Her stories are always fun and clever. She spices her books with intrigue and still keeps the romance upfront and center. That’s the reason why she has a cozy place on my Keeper Shelf.
First book in the Season of the Spinster series and it’s starting strong. Can’t wait for book #2 tho… Isabella’s story!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.
My star rating: 5 stars
Ugly cried AF. Characters and storyline were wonderful. Made me wanna hug the author for writing a book that gave me all the feels!! Will be re-reading this story again!!
What a great whodunit with a wonderful couple and an adventurous story to support them! I highly recommend this creative and fun book that Tabetha Waite has so expertly presented to her readers.
Gabriel Wilde, the Duke of Chiltern, knew this day would come and he would find himself back in the society ballrooms he so hated. He had been estranged from his father for years and has been working for the Home Office. His father’s death offered him the ideal excuse to come back to London and take the reins of the dukedom but in fact, he is investigating an illegal smuggling ring with its leader being a member of the Ton in London. Now all he can hope is that he finds the leader quickly so he can leave London’s past unpleasant memories and get back to his normal life. But then he meets Triana.
Lady Triana Abernathy has been living under the shadow of scandal every since her the evening of her come out ball and her father had left the family and run away with a servant. She knew she was destined to be a spinster and the only reason her and her mother were invited to the society balls and events was because of her older brother’s sterling reputation and his connections. Triana cares little for the Ton but attends at her mother’s insistence. But that was before the Duke of Chiltern arrived at a ball she was attending and when she studies him from the wallflower section of the ballroom, she found him to be the exact figure of a man that she had dreamed about as a the perfect husband, if she were looking. She knew of the past problems with his father but why was he suddenly back in London when he didn’t even attend his father’s funeral, very strange but she is just the person to find out why.
The journey Gabriel and Triana embarked on was fun, humorous, dangerous, action filled and romantic. It has smugglers, murderers, heroes and a supporting cast of players that support the main couple wonderfully. This book really does have it all and I loved the whodunit and the mystery left with the reader, S.H. – I hope this will be a book soon as I can’t wait to see how this couple works out.
I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
