Four cords of power. Three trials. Two soul-crushing secrets. For Lera, training has never been so hard. With the males’ power roaring in her veins and River’s cold demand that she master the magic before the third trial, something has to give. Worse still, River is keeping something from her. Something about his past and Lunos’s future. For River and Coal, the past must stay buried. Though one … stay buried. Though one male’s nightmare sits on a throne and the other’s hides in his soul, they are equally unprepared for Lera’s startling determination to undress the truth.
But when Mors’s Emperor Jawrar makes a play for Lunos, neither Lera’s fledgling magic nor the males’ old wounds can remain untouched—not if their world is to survive.
TRIAL OF THREE is a full-length reverse-harem fantasy novel, third in the Amazon bestselling, KU-All Star POWER OF FIVE series.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
OMG I so love this book!!! Each new installment just keeps getting better and better even when I think there is no way that would be possible. Instead Lidell has to prove me wrong with this awesomeness that just makes me love Lena and her men even more! This is must read series so if you haven’t read it yet why not? I give it 5/5 stars since I couldn’t put it down at all.
Favorite in the series so far
Story and narration get better and better with each book in this series! I loved the storyline and relationship changes/building in Trial of Three, book 3 in Alex Lidell’s Power of Five series.
In this 3rd installment, we get to see Lera learn more about her powers and learn more about the men in her quint. There is a lot of tension throughout this book and some really stupid decisions but it all works out in the end. I will say I am liking Lera more, now that she is really sticking up for herself and pushing back. She is trying to learn more about the quint and the background behind their behaviors and decisions. That is key for their quint to finally all come together. I need a certain elder to get her comeuppance btw. Already started book 4 so I can find out what happens. The big event with Coal was so freaking and I can’t wait for him to lower more of his walls and even *gasp* hug Lera hahaha. I loved Shade’s antics as a wolf, lots of puppy moments haha. I am glad River got his foot out of his butt because that was getting annoying. I am worried about Tye and want he is hiding, especially after showing Lera his specialized and amazing magic/power. I thought the reveal at the end and big fight scene was awesome and that Lera is weaving their magic together with a bang (haha see what I did there?). Can’t wait to see what happens next. Also Autumn and Cora need to get their own story!!
Victoria upped her game in this one and definitely deserved 5 stars. All the different voices was great, and the inflections she added really made me feel it. I will say some of her words with Tye were a little off but nothing to take away from the 5 stars. Keep it up!! Will definitely listen to more books narrated by Victoria.
Definitely recommend these audiobooks! I am already an hour into book 4 and am intrigued by the spinoffs after this original series is over. Be prepared to fall for all these amazing characters
This is an amazing adventure! At this point Lera and her men are at the citadel and in the practice arena. She is a weaver of her men’s magic. Shocking everyone because there have not been many weavers and she is human. Can she learn to control all that power and magic in so short of time when the men had 100s of years to do it? Then there is evil Klarissa she kind of runs this , tried to kill Lera before and just hates her. She is now forcing her men to train harder make things hard and cause pain to hurt Lera’s trust in them. At least that how I felt lol. Personally I would have liked to have a wall fall on klarissa lol but she is not the only bad guy! Not by far. This is a story not to be missed. It’s an reverse harem. And must be read in order. The series is complete so you will not have to wait for the next book.
It has lots of spice, action, drama, mystery, betrayal, magic, awsome characters and so much more. I couldn’t stop for anything and hung on each word so do miss this wild adventure.
In the Trial of Three more trials have been set for the quint personal plus to prove that they’re a compatible, viable unit.
Some of Rivers secrets have been revealed and he has finally shown his love for Lera.
This series so far has been like an onion each book has peeled off a layer. Hopefully book four “Lera of Lunos” finally peels back the last layer and gets to the meat of the series, lots of unanswered questions.
Victoria’s narration, her inflection and accents is enjoyable.

Fantastic. Well written, engaging and devour worthy.
I love this series. Trial of Three picks up were Mistake of Magic leaves off. Lera’s quint’s training techniques aren’t working. Cole is the only one who is not going easy, his training is brutal and direct, but his sacrificing himself to the process is unacceptable to Lera. She confronts him and goads him into bonding with her. Their first time together is explosive.
The Elders, Klarissa in particular is not happy with how Lera’s training is going. She steps in and once again forces their hands. She has her own agenda and River is key to getting what she wants. Tye is ordered to teach felx fire, a precision technique using fire magic, and Lera is ordered to his class as she can tap is magic. All he wants to do is keep her safe. All she wants is to be more than a liability to her men.
Kora’s quint has been sent on their third trial. Autumn begs River to go after them when the dead line approaches and they have not returned. River refuses as Lera steps up, forcing her quint to follow. River gets the council to agree to use their rescue mission as their 3rd trial. River bonds Lera to protect her. When they find Kora they also fine something unexpected. Lera taps her quints power to save them all. River is faced with his past and a betrayal that has him fearing for the future and keeping Lera and is quit safe, along with the rest of Lunos. Once again Lera has to step up and River finally confesses all to her. Now they train and plan on how to take down a powerful traitor.
I love this series. This is not a stand alone story. Fast paced and steamy. Can’t wait for the next book.
Another phenomenal book!
This is the third book on the Power of Five Series, and this RH Series is Amazing! The story continues where the last book ended. The story is entertaining, filled with funny and also steamy scenes. This is a fast-paced and entertaining journey for the quest of Lera and River, Shade, Coal and Tye. They learn to know each other, two by two, more and more, and their chemistry evolves book after book. I hope the next book will bring them more all together as a Quint. Now I can’t wait for the next book in the Series, Lera of Lunos. Victoria Mei has the perfect voice for this Series. She does an amazing job with all characters. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
Trial of Three: Power of Five, Book 3 Kindle Edition
by Alex Lidell
Another great book from Ms Lidell in her Power of Three series.
The book begins where book 2 left off, with Lera and her men preparing for the third trial. The training tests the tests the men as well as Leralyn herself. Leralyn’s training helps the men as well has her, by making them face the darkest part of themselves while realizing that she is not only more than she seems, but far more important to them than they could ever know.
Coal, the stoic warrior, is forced to face and allow Lera to see the damage and fear he keeps locked behind his cold and calm exterior. That fear and pain is what allows him to connect to her. We don’t see Shade much this time, only that he will use his powers to help Lera even at a cost to himself. Tye shows his past, or at least part of it. We learn who he was and that he is covering his own dark secret under flirting and humor. River, we learn that his mask of steady strength is covering the burdens he is shouldering and makes him share the load.
Many writers will use a present tense to make the action seem faster than it is. Ms. Lidell is a master of the present tense, tying us to Lera’s life and her struggles. It isn’t a gimmick that is making up for a lack of story and motion. We are truly sucked into Lera’s POV. Presnt tense in this novel is not a gimmick. Lera’s first person POV voice is dryly humoroous and at times, heart breaking,
However, she also masters the past tense when we switch from Lera’s POV to the men’s as third person semi-omniscient.
The story is fun and tense, as we are moved to a climax that has been laid since the middle of book 2.
Speaking of the other books… Autumn so needs more page time than she is getting! She deserves her own story because she is one of the most interesting characters I have met in the RH world!
All in all, another brilliant outing, a book that deserves a second or third read.
5 out of 5 stars!
The Book Nerd as swept away into the world of Leralyn and her sexy, loving, human (okay, Fae) quint.

This story is phenomenal. In this book, we finally start seeing more of what makes the guys tick, and Lera starts getting them to trust her more. She also gets to start proving that she’s not just a weak mortal, despite what everyone around her seems to think. And Coal! That’s all I can say really. There’s no more words. I don’t have a single criticism for this book. I’m really looking forward to Lera of Lunos, and hopefully getting to see Lera master her powers.
YES!!! I just love this series so much. Lera is proving her worth and still won’t back down from a battle no matter how hard. Her quint is having to fight harder than ever. There is new information learned about River and his past and now what he must do for the future. I can’t wait for the next book.
Ohh myyy…..I love this series! I really do! I pick up this book (Kindle) and I do not put it down until I am finished. I have to wait to absorb all that happened before I proceed to re-read it again because I loved it! Finally, finally, finally! I can’t wait for the next book! I will be waiting for the next book like a crazy book stalker.
1) I cannot wait to see what Lera will become when she finally learns control.
2) Finally, River!
3) Tye has officially won a place in my heart.
4) I forgive Coal – he might become my second favorite.
5) Klarissa…. I want to know her end game. Personally, if she dies, I couldn’t care less. No one messes with my Lera and my River like that!
Alex Lidell is one of my favorite authors and this book is a reason why. I can’t wait to read the next book, Lera of Lunos!
I received an ARC copy of this book to review.
Overall: 5/5
