What I think you should know:
Trial by Patience is Book #3 in The Trials series, it could be a stand alone novel, but if read as a part of the series needs to be read in order due to having characters from previous books. After an abusive childhood Danny owns an equine therapy center for abused kids and teens in the hope that they will find the peace and hope that he found in horses. Phoenix is on the run from her own past and stumbles into Break Away Ranch.
What you might want to know:
Tabitha Bouldin, the author has written a book that is very raw, many of the characters have suffered horrible abuse. While some things are just mentioned briefly it can be hard to read at times due to the trauma that they experienced, however the story was worth reading.
What I found interesting about this book:
Some of the characters in the book have the ability to see people’s past and emotion, I can only imagine how this change people’s lives both for the good and the bad if people had the ability to actually see into other’s lives. The author wrote a wonderful story of how God’s love and trustworthy people can change lives and break the cycle of abuse.

I received a complimentary copy for this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
This was a new to me author so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as soon as I read the description I knew I’d enjoy this book so I jumped at the chance to request a review copy! Wow, what a great story! I enjoyed it from the very beginning. I instantly liked Phoenix and Danny, my heart broke for all that each of them had been through, they are survivors and it was beautiful to watch them strengthen and encourage each other, almost as if they instinctively knew exactly what the other needed to feel safe and to heal! I also have to say that I fell absolutely head over heels in love with Grant (Danny’s younger brother) and I am so hoping that the author will write his story next, because I so want to read it!
I am a lifelong horse lover and owner, so I know firsthand the magical healing power they possess, and how God uses them to heal and reach people that nothing else can, and so I was totally drawn in by the equine therapy aspect of the story, and it was absolutely phenomenal! I loved it SOOOO much and I was so happy to see that the author got all the equine details right, bravo!
Overall, this is an awesome story that I loved reading and highly recommend! I look forward to reading more of this author’s work in the future!
(5 Stars!)
I received an ebook copy of this book from the publisher which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.
Phoenix is on the run….from her past and from a man who shadows her every move. What better to place to hide…or maybe find peace… than Break Away Acres, an equine therapy center. Will her job end up being more than she bargained for? Especially when dealing with her new boss, Danny, who triggers her temper and other feelings that challenge her battered heart. This emotional story is a painful journey for both Phoenix and Danny, yet hope shines through the pages. When the man who has terrorized Phoenix catches up with her, they must draw from a courage not belonging to them and face their demons together. A haunting page-turner!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review. The expressed opinions are my own.
Trial by Patience
Danny has a horse farm where he brings kids that has been abused to help them. Phoenix shows up to work there but she is the most troubled of all. She has a very abusive uncle. Phoenix is so strong, so stubborn, I really loved her character. Danny is so caring, he wants to help everyone.
What a wonderful place Danny has to help ones that need it. I loved the inspirational part of the book. The book was a lot different than I thought it would be. It was very interesting.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. This book review is my own opinion.
Phew, is this book a hard one to read. Not because of the writing, pacing, plot, or any other technical issues. No, all those things are wonderful. It’s the subject matter that makes this a tough one but at the same time, this book is needed in today’s fallen world.
Both Danny and Phoenix have suffered horrid abuse. Phoenix’s torture is ongoing while, with the help of a loving adoptive family, Danny has taken his experiences and turned them into a way to help children in current abusive situations.
Tabitha Bouldin unfolds the worst of Danny’s and Phoenix’s abuse slowly as these two get to know each other. This works well for the book. Too much too fast just wouldn’t be believable for these two broken, hurting people. And while readers are adequately aware of some of the experience and pain our hero and heroine have survived, the details are never graphic (though they are uncomfortable, as they should be).
As Phoenix seeks an elusive hope, Danny desires to protect her. What they both discover is their answer lies not in themselves, but or each other but in God.
This is the first book I’ve read by Bouldin, but after meeting the characters in this book, I want to know more. If you haven’t read anything by this author yet, be sure and look her up.
