He must never realize who I am.To the world, I’m a demon slayer. I lead a simple life slaughtering monsters, and as long as no one learns that I’m descended from a forbidden line of Dragon Bloods, I can keep my job and my life. But when a powerful Fae king realizes I’m his fated mate, I’ve got problems. Especially since A), he hates me and B), he learns my secret, and it puts my whole life at … puts my whole life at risk. I want to kill my mate.
The stars align when my employers send me to the Fae kingdom as an undercover agent. My real goal? Investigate the king for the murder of hundreds.
But the king only has eyes only for me, even when I’m in disguise. He senses that I’m his mate, and our attraction is off the charts. No matter how much we mistrust each other, we can’t stay apart. And when he realizes what I’m up to? There will be hell to pay. That is, if I survive.

A fun read
This was a magical adventure. Mari plans to save the Fae from the evil they don’t know is there while surviving a dangerous game to win a wish stone. A fun start to this series.
This story leads us to incredible scenarios, while presenting the main characters. If you are looking for an adventurous narrative, fast paced, including mystery, this is the book.
Wow I really enjoyed this book. From start to finish I was sucked into their world. So descriptive that I felt like I was making movies in my head. The characters are well rounded and down to earth. The battle scenes are action packed, not a dull moment. The attraction between Tarron and Mari is unreal. I love their interactions. At the end of the book you find out what Mari’s other side is, will Tarron be able to except her? That I suppose is in the next book. On kindle unlimited, go check it out!
A More Mature Tale Than Other’s In This World. Thoroughly Enjoyable!!

Trial by Fae (Dragon’s Gift: The Dark Fae #1)
This book is about Mordaca, one of the the sexy & powerful blood magic using sisters that all of the other main characters from the interconnected series have visited when in dire need. She loves her black silk sexy dresses, Mortia style hair & black makeup. What we find out is that both sister’s use these contrived looks as a disguise! They’re hiding what they really are from the World & they’re in hiding from from family that kept them prisoners & slaves until their escape in their teens!!
This book takes Mari (Mordaca) on an urgent & undercover mission for the Demon Slayer Council to the Seelie Fae Kingdom. She’ll need to find out what dark energy is infecting it & stop it before it destroys their Realm & starts to infect Earth too!!
This is fascinating, exciting & quite an emotive read. It’s fantastic getting to know these two sister’s better at long last, they’ve always intrigued me! She’s fiesty, strong & determined but also has some surprising emotional vulnerabilities. I loved Burn, found the Fae King to be quite a character, in a good way I hope I also respected Luna!! I’ll definitely continue this series!

Love reading all these fae books!
I lived Mari’s start of her story. As I have loved all of Linsey’s book. Awesome book and a must read, can’t wait to start the next one! It is ready downloaded.

It’s Mordecai time and even though I knew it was going to be a magically awesome ride Trial by Fae greatly exceeded my expectations in every good way possible…

But now I really need book 2 and the 3 and wow I don’t even want to think about this series ending…lol
Linsey Hall is branching off with a series focused on, Mari, a big favorite among her many superb characters. Linsey never fails to entertain, so pick up Trial by Fae (Dragon’s Gift: The Dark Fae Book 1) now!
Don’t you love it when one of your favorite authors returns with a new series? Linsey Hall is that author for me, and Trial by Fae is the first book in Dragon’s Gift: The Dark Fae, that new series. It’s got all the trademark features that have led me to love this author’s books; great storytelling thanks to great plots that are superbly written and filled with well-crafted characters, a superb lead in Mari, Blood Sorceress and Demon Slayer with a “we have to kill you now” secret (and who readers of other series by this author will recognize as a great supporting character), a destined love fated mate who might be a mass murderer (oops, but that’s how great romances start), plus all the action, thrills and adventure one could desire. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Holy fates. Mari is more impressive than Aeri. And her first quest is to save a realm. I don’t know what follows, but this series will undoubtedly be spectacular. I look forward to more wonderful stories.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
