The final story in this series, while the author is new to me I liked the way she incorporated the complete Blackthorne family in this story.
I enjoyed this wrap-up to the series! Mia is a charming character with a bruised heart and soul. Trey thinks he’s on a mission to get his mom to head back home. But he’s really looking for so much more. A fun story with two characters who need each other. A great read
The last
Of the series, but also the most healing. Trey gets to talk to his mom in Paris. But what he gets is so much more. Mia is on a special quest for her best friend who died to early. Claire has been a good friend to her in Paris, but Mia made a promise to her for Nicolette. But it seems Trey is going to help her heal. But something else happens.
Trey Blackthorne is the oldest and everyone calls him the fixer. He has been groomed to take over the family business. He sees himself on the same path as his father but no one to come home to. His mission, to find out what the big secret is and to bring his Mom home. Mia Thomas is on a mission in Paris. Honor her best friend’s final wishes. She has a bucket list of all the place they wanted to go together but she is having a hard time starting. When they meet, there is a spark. A bargain is struck, help Mia with her list and she would tell him. For the first time in a very long time Trey is having fun. Not checking his phone or emails, just absorbing the atmosphere. Then the secret is revealed and everything is changed. The only thing Trey knows is that he has fallen in love and has lost the girl. Dad shows up and tells him to swallow his pride and go get the girl. He was taking his own advice. Just loved the ending.
In book one Claire drops the bombshell there is a secret. As I read all the books I had an idea what the secret was, needless to say I was not too far off. I really enjoyed getting to know Trey and his ridged self. Trey ends up with the secret finally coming out and dealing with the aftermath. Meeting Mia is not part of the plan but they both needed each other. I loved Mia and her free spirit her and Trey are opposite but yet dealing with several emotions. I loved how Mia was able to loosen Trey up I love how Trey was there to support Mia through her grief. Christie Ridgway brought tears to my eyes the last half of the book. At the end Trey discovered he was loved and had family he could count on. I really enjoyed Trey and Mia’s story. I read on Kindle Unlimited.
Very good read.
A new to me author that was part of a series that a few authors took part in was a real treat to see how they got all the characters to mesh when it was their turn to take a crack at one of the Blackthorne men. I am enjoying each of the books and feel that you could read them all as a stand alone but it is always best to read them in the order they are numbered. I cant wait to get into the next book from this collection of authors.
Ms Ridgway brings was the final installment of the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes books featuring eldest brother, Trey. As we have gotten to know the other brothers/cousins, I have wondered how the authors of the series were going to tell Trey’s story and resolve the secondary story line between the family matriarch and patriarch.
The answer – send Trey to Paris to finally talk to his Mother and find out when she’s coming home. Once Trey arrive in Paris, I truly enjoyed parts of the story, but also felt a little let down by other pieces.
What I enjoyed, I loved how Claire handled her son’s arrival. Knowing the things that she found frustrating about her husband and the path Trey was on, it was pure cleverness to get him to take time off and spend it with Mia. I discovered that this character that I hadn’t really bonded with through 6 previous books was actually very likeable and I wanted to see him having fun. I also found Mia to be an entertaining character. She had a touching backstory and these two together was pure enjoyment.
The let down for me had to do with the “secret” that has been floated around since the very first book. I’m not going to tell you the secret, but I will say that once it’s revealed it seemed a bit anticlimactic. There was also an element of confusion as to why the implication that it was just one person’s secret.
As with the other books in the series, Trey’s story is relatively short, but it works here. The Trey/Mia connection happens fairly quickly, but the story feels whole and complete
This book was the perfect ending to this series. I was hooked from the beginning to the end – I couldn’t wait to see what would happen with Trey and Mia, what the “secret” was that Claire had been keeping, and whether Claire and Graham would get back together.
It was only fitting that Trey would be the one sent to Paris to talk to Claire since he is the family fixer. However, what he thought would be a quick trip turned into so much more – starting with his mom not being there when he arrived and his first interactions with her neighbor Mia. As Trey and Mia spend time together, he begins to question how much time he spends working (like his father), and whether he will have time for love and a family.
Mia is in Paris to honor her best friend’s final wishes and Trey helps her with going to see the sights that were on Nicolette’s list of places to visit. As they spend more and more time together, will they stay friends or will more develop between them?
I just loved the humor in this story, the love story, and the way the character’s thinking was challenged. This was such a great series.
Trey by Christie Ridgway is the final book in the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes series. It was on outstanding story and a phenomenal series. Trey was probably my favorite book in the series. It wrapped up all the lose ends that were introduced in the first book. Trey is the story of Graham Wallace Blackthorne III, current Vice President of Operations for Blackthorne Enterprises and Mia Thomas, an art teacher. Trey is the heir apparent to Graham as the CEO of Blackthorne Enterprises and the “family fixer”. Trey is sent to Paris to unearth the “secret” that Claire revealed when she left her own sixtieth birthday party and to bring Claire home. Mia has the key to the penthouse where Claire is living and must meet Trey outside the door to let him inside. Claire is taking art lessons and is traveling when Trey arrives. Mia is in Paris on a mission. Her best friend, Nicolette died suddenly earlier in the year. Nicolette created a bucket list of places in Paris that she wanted to visit. It is Mia’s mission to take her ashes to those locations and as the sun is setting on her birthday, to drop her ashes in the Mediterranean Sea. Mia cannot bring herself to do it. Trey agrees to help Mia with her mission and in the process they agree to a Paris fling. The secret is finally revealed. When Claire returns, she reveals the “secret” and it turns Trey’s life upside down. The story is so beautifully written and is filled with many bittersweet and poignant moments, that made me cry. I was so sad at the end of the book knowing it was the last story in the series. Love the Parisian setting and the characters. So glad that Trey became the man he was meant to be
Trey FINDS HIMSELF in Paris
Trey gets coerced into flying to Paris to talk with his mother about why she left her birthday party all those months ago and letting on about some sort of secret which has been a constant through this series….and certainly has left many tongues wagging as to what it could be
Trey gets to Paris, only to discover his mother isn’t there and she has asked one of her friends, whom she met in Paris, Mia to meet with him and let him into the apartment where she’s staying.
I’m a Christie virgin but I really enjoyed this story that she put together. Even though the actual secret wasn’t as juicy as I’d hoped, it still played a massive part and came with some very emotional ties. Mia is in Paris for a few emotional reasons, that you will discover when you read this story and will also pull at your heart strings and dampen your cheeks Nonetheless, I loved it and when I have some spare time will definitely look at putting some of these new authors on my to read list
Christie Ridgway’s Trey was the perfect ending to the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes series.
Workaholic Trey is the eldest of all of the Blackthorne brothers and cousins. As such, he is burdened with the task of flying to Paris in an attempt to convince his mother to come back home and men’s her relationship with his father. Trey finds the apartment his mother is using in Paris to be empty and is informed by Mia, her downstairs neighbor, that she is not due back for several days. This doesn’t sit well with Trey as he feels he is wasting valuable time away from his work in the Blackthorne business empire.
When Trey confesses that he has never really been to the tourist sights of Paris due to always spending all of his time in the business office there, Mia offers to be his tour guide while Trey is in Paris waiting for his mother return. Mia is on a quest of her own – to fulfill her best friend’s bucket list. Trey goes along with Mia as she checks the Paris-specific items off the list and discovers a whole new world – one that includes laughter and romance.
Along the way, Trey slowly sheds the stiff business suit wearing persona he always shows the world and starts to let down his guard and become more aware of the thing he has been missing in the most – living life to the fullest. Trey starts to re-evaluate what is truly important and what fulfills him the most. Once his mother returns to Paris, the answers he finds to some mysteries rock him to the core and force him to decide exactly who and what he wants to be and be with.
This book answers the series-long arc of why Claire walked out on her husband and her own 60th birthday party. The reason is one that I never saw coming (besides the fact that her husband put the family name and business above all else.). stories
I truly enjoyed this entire series and the unique twist each author used for each brother and cousin. The stories flowed together well and had terrific continuity.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Trey and Mia have an interesting adventure on their way to discovering their love in Trey, book seven in the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes series, written by Christie Ridgway. Each book is part of the series but is a standalone story.
As the oldest Trey, the family fixer, values family above all else; so in order to end his parent’s separation he flies to Paris to talk to his mother. Arriving in Paris he finds his mother missing and one of her neighbors, Mia, in charge of taking care of him. After the unexpected death of Mia’s best friend, Nic, and she is in Paris to check off items on a Paris bucket list. Trey has always been all work, no play; or as former girlfriends have accused him, married to his job. However Mia entices him to join her on this journey; exploring the streets and sites of Paris. When a family secret is revealed, Trey is at a loss and needs to decide what kind of man he really wants to be.
Mia brings fun to Trey’s life; he calls her his mermaid or fairy or other imaginative name, because she takes him out of his comfort zone and taking a chance on enjoying life. One thing I loved about this story is how Mia hears Nic voice and thoughts in her head. Ms. Ridgway had a theme for Trey and Mia that they both avoided love; Trey because of family demands, Mia due to the example her parents set, or didn’t set for her. Yet, two people who avoided love found themselves falling in love at first sight.
Ms. Ridgway wrote a tale rich with sexual chemistry, humor, tearful moments, and endearing characters giving Trey and Mia a chance for happiness, love and a lifelong future together. I definitely recommend Trey to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
In this last book of the series, we find Trey, the eldest Balckthorne, seeking out his wayward mother. She has pursued her own dream away from her husband and family. What he expects to find, he doesnt and what he doesnt expect falls into his life. I adored Mia and her exuberant personality. She is a breath of fresh air for Trey. She too has a reason to be in Paris although reluctantly. Her mission is to complete the bucket list of her best friend. She is stronger than she thinks but Trey’s presence is welcomed so she can complete her mission. She too supports him when the secret comes to light. The secrets that drove his mother across an ocean. It’s been a theme throughout all 7 books and I can agree that it could tear the family apart if they let it. Trey has such growth in this book and that’s one of the tings that I love about a character. Mia grows too from her aversion to all things about falling in love. They are so connected almost immediately and I loved that about them. This story makes me want to fall in love all over again in the City of Light.
Trey and Mia were good. I guess because I haven’t read the previous books I sort of missed the backstory on Trey’s mom. But he met Mia in Paris when he went to meet his mom and he didn’t expect to fall in love. Mia was bubbly and Trey was a workaholic but they made it work. The ending was ok.
Where do we find the olest of the Blackthorne men heading to? Why? What happens when he gets there? Who is Mia Thomas? What does she do for a living? What is Trey’s lifestyle like? Will we ever find out the secret about his mother Claire that caused her to go to Paris? Wow, this was a doozy of a read! Who is Nic? What role does she play in how things pan out? Damn, I was not expecting the secret that came out! Holy smokes!!!! Wait to see what happens! I hope there will be a book in the future that helps wrap up some of these story arcs to flesh things out as how things turn out.
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin’ With M. Brennan.
This was an entertaining, well-written book. Mia was very sweet and lighthearted, and Trey was responsible and straightforward. The more time they spent together they more they found they had in common, and each one’s personality changed the other for the better. They were good for each other. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading other books by this author.
Trey is the last book in the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes Series. I feel that each of these books in this series could be stand alone but they also do good job of a continuous flow from one book to the next. I think you would have a better appreciation of the Blackthornes if you read the whole series.
Trey is a workaholic. As the oldest son he’s been groomed to follow in his father’s footsteps. He has no life beyond work. He travels to Paris to bring his mother mom home to hopefully heal his parents relationship so his father will give everyone else some breathing space. He’s also there trying to discover what secret his mother eluded to prior to her leaving town.
While he’s waiting for his mom he meets her neighbor, Mia. She’s in Paris on her own personal mission. Next he knows Trey is traveling around Paris helping Mia mark everything off on her list. Along the way Trey discovers there’s more to life than work. Now they have to discover if there is a future for them after Paris.
Trey is the last of the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes books. Trey is written by Christie Ridgway so I was counting on it being a great story. I was not disappointed. Trey is the oldest of the Blackthornes so he takes it upon himself with some family input to go looking for his mother who seems to have left his father.
Trey is the one that the others look to fix whatever needs to be, such as getting his mother home. Trey is an in charge type of person so cooling his wheels in Paris is difficult but meeting Mia Thomas begins to change that mindset. Not all at once, mind you. One is all-business type of personality and one is a free spirit so really they balance each other. Loved them together. The story is well-written, filled with humor, romance, love and family.
I haven’t read all the series books but found that Trey was fine as a stand-alone. A fitting finish to the series.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wonderful story and two searching souls finding one another. Mia has lost her best friend-the one she’s had since grade school, like a sister, so she’s in Paris visiting their bucket list, taking Nic on the tour they always thought they’d go on. Trey is in Paris determined to find out why his mother fled there months ago. But Trey finds is mother searching for her muse, leaving him in the hands of Mia. In the city of love what else would two strangers find sightseeing? Secrets and emotions come out in this great read, wonderful ending to this entertaining series.
