Tracie Peterson Begins Compelling New Series Set on the 1840s FrontierGrace Martindale has known more than her share of hardship. After her parents died, raising her two younger sisters became her responsibility. A hasty marriage to a minister who is heading to the untamed West seemed like an opportunity for a fresh start, but a cholera outbreak along the wagon trail has left Grace a widow in a … Grace a widow in a very precarious position.
Having learned natural remedies and midwifery from her mother, Grace seeks an opportunity to use her skills for the benefit of others. So when she and her sisters arrive at the Whitman mission in “Oregon Country,” she decides to stay rather than push on.
With the help of Alex Armistead, a French-American fur trapper, Grace begins to provide care for her neighbors, including some of the native populace. But not everyone welcomes her skills–or her presence–and soon Grace finds herself and those she loves in more danger than she imagined possible.

Treasured Grace (Heart of the Frontier #1) by Tracie Peterson – The history of the American West is littered with stories of courage and cowardice. Grace, Hope, and Mercy are making their way west to their uncle, but tragedy is dogging their footsteps. If Grace can hold on, there is the promise of good things ahead! Enjoy this kind but tough leading lady! Happy Reading!
I love these books of early American times and settling out west. The story & characters were inspirational & entertaining.
I love everything that Tracie Peterson writes, but I have to say this is one of my absolute favorites. I own it in paperback and in digital form, and I’m sure I’ll reread it several times.
So realistic and touching. The story of Grace truly touches you. You want her and her sisters to find happiness. Read to find out!
Great read!
It was written so well that you felt like you were living it with them. The loss, the pain and the victories.
Very interesting characters. Strong and self reliant!!
Another great book by Tracie!
This book is not your typical story. It is based upon some true life events of our history. I am touched by the courage and strength of Grace as she moves on in her life to prepare a place for her and her two sisters, even though her marriage is on paper only. Her determination to provide for them after her husband dies is great.
I enjoyed reading this book even with the scary times of enemy attack and the unknown ahead of this little family.
Could not put it down
After reading book 1 of the of the series I had to read 2 & 3 .
I have often wondered abut the life Mercy’s lived after.
TREASURED GRACE is an inspiring story, especially for those looking for a “Little House” with a faith based plot. A good read! A good author!
I love all of Tracie Peterson’s books. Grace was a beautiful soul, who did everything in her power to protect and provide for her two sisters. There was love, love lost, an Indian attack and of course a happy ending. I highly recommend this book.
I very much enjoyed this book and the historical fiction based on the Whitman Mission near the end of the Oregon Trail. Realistically portrays the hardships of the people making the journey west and puts “real”people in the mission that was attacked by nearby Indians. Made history come alive in an easy to read book with characters you come to care about.
I enjoyed this book so much that I went to the library and got the two sequels.
Read in just 3 days
Loved this book. I’m very interested in essence oils and their healing abilities. This storyline went into detail on some popular oils. The story had some violence in it. I found it interesting. Highly recommend it
I found the story choppy and confusing at times. It all came together at the end but I struggled to finish it.
I liked this book so much I ordered and read the other two in this series
Always had an interest in the Whitman’s so reading this book was great. To learn more of the details was very interesting and educational. I highly recommend it.
