If someone had told Dawn Chadwick that she’d be attending a play put on by children on a dragon-shifter’s land a year ago, she would’ve said they were mad. However, her daughter Daisy has slowly worn Dawn down about her prejudices and she ends up volunteering to help with the play. She’s to assist a recluse dragonman with the special effects. What she didn’t count on was her daughter’s meddling.… meddling.
Blake Whitby prefers working in a lab to being around people. He’s a rare white dragon with a black spot, and the attention from a young age has made him hide from others. However, he’s always had a weakness for children and agrees to help them with their play. What he didn’t count on was meeting a beautiful human with a sense of humor and a heart-warming smile. His dragon wants her, but Blake holds back. At least until two kids make holding back impossible.
While Dawn agrees to the mate-claim frenzy with Blake, there’s no guarantee their pairing will work. And when Dawn’s family threatens her happiness, Blake has to stand by his mate and fight for the family he never knew he wanted.

Treasured by the Dragon
Imagine driving down a country road in the Lake District of England. You round the turn in the road and come across a giant metal gate. This gate has huge flame-lit torches on either side. On top of the gate the word “STONEFIRE” is spelled out in metal. Intimidating. Dawn Chadwick is driving to Stonefire Dragon Clan. Daisy, her daughter is in a play and tonight is all about Daisy. Daisy has a friendship with a few of the children that live in Stonefire. She loves all things dragon.
Dawn is a single mom. She raises Daisy by herself. Daisy’s dad left them when Daisy was quite small not willing to accept the responsibility of a curious, active and impulsive child. Dawn’s life has been difficult with many life challenges. She and her ex-husband tried to have children for years and finally succeeded with invitro fertilization. Then he left for Australia. Daisy infrequently sees her aunt from her fathers’ side of the family. Daisy is the focus of Dawn’s life. She is intimidated by the dragon shifters that co-exist with humans. She can do this.
Blake Whitby is a shy dragon that prefers to work alone. He like to help out where he can especially with children. Usually Blake can be found in a lab working on ways to keep all dragons safe from the dragon hunters. He has tried meeting women and had not much success. Nearing forty years he has given up the idea of a mate.
Accidents happen. When Blake is tasked with a human parent volunteer for the play his inner dragon perks up. Could it be his true mate after so long? Should he tell her, should he wait and court her? All it takes is an innocent push from children and an accidental kiss and the mate-frenzy is invoked.
Dawn is attracted to Blake but she does not know if she can have another child. Would the mate frenzy last a long time resulting in no pregnancy? Dawn would have to live on Stonefire land and Daisy would live near her best friend Freddy. Would this be the right choice?
Dawn accepts the mate-frenzy.
This was a good book. A page turner. Great characters and fun story line. We have read about Daisy coming to camp and learning about dragons. This explores the next chapter in Daisy’s journey.
Dawn and Blake
As Daisy would say, “brilliant”.
Another wonderful story with a brilliant love story of three, well four counting the dragon, well … you’ll have to read to find out the real total.
Daisy, a human child, is coming to Lockguard to participate in a play she and a dragon friend have written. Mom, Dawn, is along to help with the production where she meets Blake. Surprise Blake has just met his mate. He never thought that would happen and has kept somewhat apart from most. However, a little help from a dragon-obsessed daughter and keeping away from Dawn is not possible.
The question is Dawn ready to get involved with a dragonman? She’s attracted to him but this is a big commitment not only to adults but Daisy as well.
The story is touching, sweet, steamy, and I loved every bit and know you will as well. Be prepared it isn’t going to be an easy road but these are good people.
Simply spectacular addition to this wonderful series
Dawn had always known that her daughter Daisy was a special child and even though she had some special needs it had not in anyway diminished her, she was hyperactive at times had times to hold concentration and yet since the first day she had met the Dragon shifters of Stonefire her personality and abilities had improved outstandingly.
Imagine her surprise when Dawn who has raised her beautiful daughter for the last ten years alone discovers that she has been ostracised by her schoolfriends and even some of her teachers simply because she had befriended the Dragon shifters and had tried to teach people that they were good, kind and there was nothing to fear from simply being different.
When Blake had first seen Dawn as he had been helping at the children’s play where both human and dragon children were working together, his helper Daisy’s mother had instantly set the attention of his dragon on full alert and as the night had wore on he had found her to be simply wonderful.
Dawn had not know a lot about the Dragon shifter relations or anything about True Mates or Mate Frenzy, in fact it seemed that Freddy who was Daisy’s best friend knew far more than he should and this was indeed an important factor and demonstrated why from a very young age the dragon shifter children had to understand all about the beat that was part of them, how to understand them and how to keep them under control.
This is a simply wonderful read and as I have read all of the books it was wonderful to once again bring in a totally new factor, this is something that Jessie Donovan is able to do so well and I know that parent and adults that have children like Daisy or have grown up living with these challenges in life will appreciate this book immensely.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
I have been a fan of this series since the first one. I love the characters. They really are very well developed.
This is one of the shorter books in the series. It focuses on a dragon shifter who has given up on finding a mate and focused on science. He is shocked when it turns our a human female visiting with her daughter is his mate. She has also experienced pain and not expecting to find love.
Their romance is very sweet and sexy and I really enjoyed watching them get to know each other. Her daughter is really something and I hope we get to watch her grow up. The ending is great and I look forward to the next book. I highly recommend the series.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.
I did not expect this book to be so different but I did enjoy it. I adored the children and did really like Blake from even before this book.
Character breakdown;
Blake: though I was intrigued by him, dragonmen.. lol but I love how much he loved and accepted Daisy and would not see it any other way. Not just for Dawn’s sake.
Dawn: I liked her she was lovely I loved how strong she was as a mother and how dedicated.
I loved that this story had a very relatable issue. (Trust me those bitter relatives can be a big issue) it was nice to see something different in the series. A nice addition to it too.
Another great Stonefire Dragons story.
This is the next book and the series and features Blake and Dawn. Blake is the type of dragon that would rather be alone than with others but he loves helping kids so he willing volunteers to help them put on a play. Dawn is a human who just so happens to be Daisy’s mom and who decides to help the kids. They soon learn they are mates but there are people who don’t want that to happen. Together they must find a way to be together. Daisy is one of my favorite characters because she just pulls you in with her bigger than life personality.
I received a copy of this book for a review.
What a great addition to the series!! I especially liked Daisy her enthusiasm for all things dragon was super cute. This was a really cute read not much in the drama department but that didn’t take away from the story. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read. As always my review are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
When the final curtain closes
This is the perfect follow up to the dragon shorts and the way the young ones meet and become friends. The author created the perfect mother for a sassy, spunky little girl like Daisy, and sullen, withdrawn Blake is the right mate for Dawn. The author really blew me away with her attention to detail as the relationship built between this couple. And I loved that she brought the angst and worry of reality into the story, it kept the story interesting and new. I can’t wait to read her next book because with a parting epilogue like this you just know it’s going to be amazing.
