“A truly incredible historical novel. From the very beginning of Tread Softly on My Dreams by Gretta Curran Browne, I was captivated by the rugged beauty of Ireland’s mountains and its soft lush valleys. The author’s detailed description enhanced the vision for the story, while each new character increased the intrigue. Every path provided clarity of the situation, both personal and political, showing great determined strength of the human spirit to stand firm in the belief of a free Ireland, even at the expense of their own lives. I cheered the hero and heroines of the story, applauding their successes and shedding tears at the injustices, brutality, and suffering of the people who simply wanted their freedom. The reader’s heart will swell with the love Robert has for Sarah, and the unspoken love Anne has for Robert. A fantastic read from beginning to end.” — READERS’ FAVORITE
Set against the background of the beauty of Ireland, the dark clouds of its past, as well as the humour and dreams of its people, this is a passionate and powerful true story of three young people, Robert Emmet, Anne Devlin, and Sarah Curran, drawn together in love, in hope, and tragedy.

Based on history, a horrifying story of Ireland in the early19th century. Beautiful descriptions of the countryside.
Not a bad read
Great read well researched
I leart a little more about the Irish saga. Enjoyed the mixture of country and gentalmen folk. Quite tragic that there were lots more attempts to come over the next 200 years.
My recommendation is for those readers that like an extensive and lengthy emphasis on history. This book was not for me and I didn’t finish it. Way too much historical intrigue for me.
Just started the seventh book in the series . Each book can stand alone but are better read in ord e r. All are well-written, with excellent character r development t.
Very entertaining it and informative
It was an enjoyable fictional account of Irish life during the time of the rebellion. If you like history, you’ll like this novel.
I loved the way the author weaved in so many historical facts!
Such a good read….
Not my favorite type of book.
Tread Softly on My Dreams follows various characters from the Irish Revolution. It is well researched, readable, and very interesting. While not a page-turner, it keeps the reader engaged and wondering what the outcome will be for the various main characters. That the ending is tragic, is not surprising, but the follow-up on some of the minor …
Under reported history wee-written as a novel.
A part of Irish history that tells of it’s quest for independence……well worth reading. I enjoyed every page and look forward to more from Greta Curran Browne.
Whenever one reads about the Irish struggles with England there is no happy ending. So, if you are looking for uplifting this isn’t it. The story was a good representation of the times.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters jumped off the pages. I learned so much about early Ireland. I would love my friends to read this so we could discuss it together.
if you didn’t detest British treatment of Ireland already, you will after reading this book. Their treatment of Anne Devlin was especially over the top (& that isn’t literary license.)
I do have an objection to the author crediting Anne Devlin’s devotion to Irish freedom & refusal to betray the leaders of the Rebellion at least in part to a …
Even after hearing stories about my Irish heritage, lack of inquiry caused me to gloss over the suffering of the Irish at the hands of the British. Ms Browne certainly changed that. I cried for the character’s sufferings and reveled in the character of Robert Emmett. Such terrible suffering long endured!
Wonderful look at some of the unsung heroes of Ireland. There were a lot of ancillary characters to keep up with but I was glad I read it.
History presented well.
One of the best books about Ireland,I’ve ever read, absolutely brilliant, can’t wait to read book 2.
Packed with historical information.
