Treachery’s Devotion is the first book in Mari Carr and Lila Dubois’ new Trinity Masters spin off series and WOW! Just WOW! It’s like Trinity Masters on steroids.
The Masters’ Admiralty is the secret society in Europe that birthed the Trinity Masters of America, so the premise of the books are much the same, but this case is breath stealing, heart stopping, murder, intrigue and shocking surprises. And let’s not forget another delicious triad.
The long list of new characters introduced, leads me to believe we’re in for another fantastic series and if that little tease at the end is any indication, I’m completely convinced.
I highly recommend taking this journey, the authors have done a fantastic job with making this a standalone series, you won’t have to (but I’m convinced you’ll want to) read Trinity Masters to understand and enjoy The Masters’ Admiralty.
Loved it
Love this spin off series of the Trinity Masters. While Tristan was introduced in Trinity Masters Beloved Sacrifices, the Trinity Masters are mentioned, you don’t have to have read that series to read this book, but it does enhance the story of you have.
Tristan feels he is being punished for his failure on his last mission. Sent to escort and protect a specialist on ancient coins to the Rome Territory. When they meet their contract and learn the details of the horrific events, he know he has been sent as a trusted Knight and protector of the Admiralty.
James is a legacy of mixed race. A former pro Rugby player for the All Blacks. (If you don’t know Rugby, Google the All Blacks, if nothing else you have to see them perform the Haka) He was forced into retirement due to a devastating injury. He turned to his childhood hobby of coin collecting, which has lead him to his present career as curator of coins at the British Museum.
Sophia is a legacy, and daughter of the Admiral of the Rome Territory.
She is an expert in art and a member of the Carabinieri. When she is brought in on an investigation, she reaches out to James to identify the meaning behind coins let at the scene.
Tristan, James and Sophia fall into an easy comradery, with a big dose of attraction. When they uncover a plot to assassinate the Fleet Admiral, they ban together to present the evidence. When their worst fears are realized, their newly formed trinity, is tested to the near breaking point.
Great story, fast paced and steamy. Loved Tristan, James and Sophia. Can’t wait to meet the new Fleet Admiral. Wondering how things will play out with the Trinity Masters, will Tristan be their friend? Can’t wait for Metao ‘s story.
Wow! This was such a great book! Absolutely kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved all the clues and secret society stuff. Really well put together storyline and diverse, likeable characters, particularly Tristan. I even got a bit teary in parts. It was quite an exciting, emotional ride.
I picked up this book because I’ve love Mari Carr’s writing for years. But even loving this author, I was blown away by this book.
The suspenseful tone of this story kept me turning the pages until the very last one (and picking up the rest of the series). The world-wind story was intriguing, and offered some interesting ideas that I’d never read before. And the art and artifacts in the story reminded me of the Da Vinci code. But it was the suspense of this story that kept me reading every second I could find until the very last page.
The relationship between the characters are interesting, and not you typical romance heroes, but very enjoyable. Though it starts out a little forced–arranged marriages can be like that–by the end it is very believable and heartfelt.
If you like a menage romance this book should be a the top of your to read list.
I was hooked on this story from the opening scene with it’s three dead bodies, some paintings, and coins all in a cave. Who was responsible for the killings and what was the motive? Sophia feels that the placement of the coins may have a deeper meaning and that they need an expert in coins to examine them.
Thus we have James Rathmann, an archeologist and coin expert, and Tristan, a knight, sent to help solve the mystery. This takes the three of them to the Isle of Man and an audience with the Fleet Admiral who they feel is in danger, even though their admirals don’t share their belief.
Loved the action, suspense, romance, mystery, and steamy sex in this book. This is a great start to the series and I look forward to reading the other books.
I love Mari Carr and Lila DuBois writing together. They write such wonderful charactors that draw you into their world and THAT is why I love reading so much!
This new series by Mari Carr and Lila Dubois is awesome. This first book, Treachery’s Devotion, gives the background on the Masters’ Admiralty, a secret organization that has existed for centuries. A gruesome murder in Italy brings together the three principal characters of this book, Tristan Knight, Sophia Starabba, and James Rathmann. A bond is quickly formed between the three as they investigate the murders of three members of the the Masters’ Admiralty. All signs point to the return of the Domino, a killer and anarchist who plagued the Masters’ Admiralty in the past. This is just the beginning of the shocking events to come in this riveting story. The passion, the intrigue, the incredible writing make this stunning mystery romance impossible to put down. I loved it.
This is the first book in a new series, a spin-off of the Trinity Masters series, by these same authors. It, too, is about a secret organization, that agrees to arranged menage marriages in exchange for membership. This book can be read as a stand alone, but there are some references to the books in the Trinity Masters series that would not make sense if you have not read that series. There is also some things left unresolved, that lead toward an opening for the next book, but it does not end in a cliff hanger (I really hate cliffys!).
Before beginning this book, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be similar to the Trinity Masters, or if they were going to take it in a completely new direction. As always, Mari Carr and Lila Dubois had a few surprises up their sleeves!
What starts out as an investigation, leads to something bigger than Tristan, Sophia, and James could have ever imagined. They have to figure out how to navigate everything that is thrown their way, as well as do their part to usher in a new era for their organization.
I loved this book so hard! The non stop action, the relationship between the main characters, as well as the surprises at every turn, kept me guessing from the first page to the last. There were a few times while reading, that I had to stop, and reread a passage, because I couldn’t quite believe what I had just read (in a good way, of course!). It was an amazing story and I could not put it down.

Great new start to this new series offshoot of Trinity Masters.
A new series fashioned after the Trinity Masters series but better because it is actually where they are based on…. The Masters’ Admiralty. If you have read the other series you will know what I am talking about. If you have not, no worries. This series is separate unto itself and yes the Trinity Masters are mentioned but our authors of course explain…no worries. Authors did you get that yes there is a S on the end there 2 authors write this as one and you will have no idea that this is not one person writing this book.
This read checked all the boxes for me. It has mystery, intense suspense, romance and oh my can I say sexy read! I pretty much know that I will get a really good reading experience when I read one of the menage books by this duo but this book, set in today’s time is even more moving than any of their previous books have been. It had me in tears in places and it also had me swooning other times.
Well, written and hot as the oven set on broiler. I can not wait until we get book 2 in this series. This will definitely be a re-read for me…. There was so many tiny, wonderful details in this book I am sure I missed some that I will need in upcoming books. Best store them in my memory now, for later.
A great suspensful MMF romance. It started off kind of slow because of all the background information about the secret society group, the Masters’ Admirality, but it picked up to an action packed and sinfully sexy read. A little darker than what I’m used to by Mari Carr, but I’ve only read her Wild and Wilder Irish series. I kept thinking that this story was just a dirtier and sexier version of the Da Vinci Code. Overall, a really good heart pounding story.
*I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book*
