I took a chance on Treacherous and I’m so glad I did! Rylee and Zayden will give you alllll the feels! This enemies to lovers romance is told in first person with dual POV.
Rylee has to move to finish her senior year because her Mom married Oliver’s (Zayden’s Best Friend) dad. How hard can it be? Got to school. Meet new people friends. Graduate. If only it was that simple. Oliver is out to make her life a living he!!. Zayden takes up his cause. I’ve gotta hand it to Rylee, she is fierce. She never backs down. She doesn’t care if they are “Gods” at school.
Zayden sees Rylee as just another rich girl. A spoiled princess who gets what she wants. Only, the more he interacts with her, the more he realizes maybe he has her pegged wrong. Which leaves him wondering, why does Oliver hate her so much?
What happens when Oliver takes things too far? Will Zayden ever forgive himself? Will Rylee be able to bounce back?
Rylee expected to have a great senior year until she had to change schools and move with her mother’s new husband and his son who is not a fan of his new stepmother or her daughter.
Zayden Michaels is the resident bad boy at Rylee’s new school and her stepbrother’s best friend. He’s jerk to Rylee since the moment he lays eyes on her, but when the bullying orchestrated by her stepbrother gets out of hand, he’ll draw a protection line around the girl.
This was a story I really enjoyed. I love a heroine with a backbone and Rylee doesn’t let anyone see her break despite every humiliation they put her through. Zayden, on the other hand, is a bad boy with a heart of gold and he makes a great book boyfriend. I liked their characters and relationship almost as much as I liked how Rylee and her bestie handle her stepbrother.
With the backdrop of HS drama, misplaced feelings and complicated teenage lives, Treacherous makes for a good read. It’s romantic, sexy and filled with the angst that comes with teenage love.
This was a story that surprised me, I wasn’t sure what to expect before starting but I really enjoyed it. An enemies to lovers story with real depth and that dealt with very real issues with such honesty. My favourite character was Rylee she was so strong. It took me awhile to warm up to Zayden but he slowly grew on me and won we over totally. With characters you’ll love and ones you won’t. This was a good read that kept me invested from the start.
Alex Grayson and Melissa Toppen bring us treachery like no other. Rylee is at the end of her high school career and is looking forward to her senior until the monkey wrench that is her mother’s new marriage gets thrown into the mix. Throw in a step-brother who despises you for no reason that you can think of and his super hot best friend who is loyal to him and you have a recipe for a senior year full of disaster. This is bullying at it’s worst (or finest…depending on how you are looking at it), but Rylee is one of the strongest 17 year olds I know. She tries as hard as she can to just let it all slide off her back…until it can’t. Her savior will come in a super unexpected package but there is so much here for Rylee not to trust. Bullying, enemy to friend, enemy to lover and a great supporting cast in Pierce (who I absolutely adore).
This is a standalone romance novel written by Alex Greyson and Melissa Toppen. It is written in a dual point of view. It is an enemies-to-lovers, bully, high school, stepbrother’s best friend romance. There is a healthy dose of angst in this book. It pulls you in immediately and takes you on an emotional journey through hurt, bullying, heartbreak, humor and new love.
Rylee’s mother remarried. This means Rylee has to transfer schools and leave behind her friends in her senior year. Now she also has a new stepbrother Oliver, who hates her and is determined to make her life hell. But then Oliver’s best friend Zayden shows up and that’s a whole new dynamic. Rylee can’t help but notice how gorgeous Zayden is, but beyond the beauty is a guy who is mean and hates her just on the principle that Oliver hates her. Even though they hate one another, there is an undeniable attraction. How
Zayden has that bad boy persona. He is brooding and badass. No one is school crosses him and every girl wants to be his girl but Zayden doesn’t do relationships, or he hasn’t found anyone worthy of that status. He is not a fan of the wealthy and privileged. Even though he and Oliver are childhood friends, their lives couldn’t be more different. Oliver is the spoiled rich boy with a chip on his shoulder, Zayden hasn’t had an easy life and has to help raise his sister, who has serious health issues, because his mom left and it’s just him and his dad. When he meets Rylee, he immediately deems her a spoiled princess. Even though he hates her, he can’t deny there is something about her that calls to him. Is there more to her than meets the eye? Can he betray his life-long best friend?
This was such an emotional journey. There are many layers to peel back, and I enjoyed peeling every last layer. The plot was well-written, and the story flowed perfectly. It was a great world building story and has all of the feels. There are wonderful characters. Some you will hate and you’ll have to see if they redeem themselves. I loved Rylee’s strength and determination. The spark between Zayden and Rylee was sizzling. The way their love story came about was unconventional but I loved it all the same. If you like high school romances, I highly recommend reading this one. It was entertaining from start to finish with many surprises in between!

If you enjoy a hot high school romance then Treacherous is a perfect story for you!
It includes the typical high school drama you would expect such as bullying, mean girls, friendships, parties and young love, but throws in a twist.
Rylee not only finds herself in a new school her senior year of high school trying to fit in but she has a new stepbrother, Oliver that has decided to make her life a living hell with the help of his best friend, Zayden.
Zayden and Oliver are best friends and he knows he should put Oliver’s friendship above his attraction to Rylee but he can’t seem to get her out of his head and the more he gets to know her he realizes that she is not the horrible person Oliver makes her out to be.
Oliver doesn’t want to give up on his vendetta against Rylee until things get out of hand and he realizes that he may have now lost his best friend. Now he has to come clean and hope they can forgive him.
I thought that this was a terrific read. Bully romances are usually hit or miss with me but this one was a home run for me. Reasons I loved this book: 1. This is such an emotionally fueled read. Angst, anger, heartache, frustration, friendship, longing, desire and love are all woven throughout the well written story and they really help to not only pull you into the story but quickly have you invested in these characters. 2. The story itself. I loved that this book wasn’t just an excuse to act badly or a reason to embrace darker desires. I find that a huge turnoff and it is my number one problem with bully stories. I felt that there was a realistic reasoning behind the bullying (Even if it was misplaced, after all, anger and hurt feeling do not make for logical reasoning or great choices). 3. The characters. I found it easy to love Rylee and Zayden. Their attraction and chemistry was intense and almost tangible. I felt so bad for what Rylee was going through and the emotional turmoil she went through because of her attraction and growing feelings for Zayden and whether he could truly be trusted. As for Zayden, as his story became clear my heart truly ached for him. Add in a compelling cast of secondary characters that will leave you wanting to see them get their own books and yes, I think Oliver deserves to be on that list and you have a book that should not be missed!
I loved Treacherous so much. Alex Grayson and Melissa Toppen make an amazing writing team when it comes to Zayden and Rylee. This is a bully romance that you don’t want to miss. I love the strength in Rylee through every thing her step brother Oliver puts her through. The fact that she doesn’t react and run like Oliver wants her to makes her one tough cookie. I love the changes in Zayden throughout Treacherous. You want to hate him so much in the beginning because he is Oliver’s best friend and going along with how Oliver is treating Rylee. Then you get to know him and see him get to know Rylee and you just start to swoon for him and really feel the emotions he goes through when it comes to his family. I love the chemistry between Rylee and Zayden. I even love to hate Oliver so much especially when he goes too far. The changes in Oliver and Rylee’s relationship will give you a little something to smile about by the end of this one. This book is just beyond fabulous and I couldn’t put it down. I am so hoping that Alex and Melissa will team up again and give us Oliver’s book. Seriously he needs his own book with a dash of more Zayden and Rylee because I’m not ready to let them go yet. I Just loved this one so much.
After her mother gets married, Rylee has to move right in the middle of her senior year. Starting over at a new school, with no friends, behind in classes and to top it all off the step-brother Rylee has acquired with this new marriage hates her guts. Rylee is determined to make the best of situation, but Oliver is just as determined to make Rylee’s life miserable. With Oliver comes his best friend Zayden, and even thought Rylee knows that she should be careful with Zayden, she is still drawn to him. So when he starts to give her some attention, Rylee is confused, is this another trick that will blow up in her face or is Zayden truly interested?
This was a good read, a bit more tame than I would have expected from Alex Grayson, but still a good read. Loads of drama, some moments that even had me dying of embarrassment, and the naughty bits that this does have were super hot. This seems very similar to another bully book I have recently read. I give this 4 stars.
Bully romances have somehow drawn me to them! This duo pulled me into Rylee’s difficult world. Thank goodness Rylee is so strong! Thank you for that! Oliver and Zayden certainly provided challenge. The angst of the story! Yeah, just love it! I know, I feel I’m sick! But, you know what comes with the pain, it’s a romance after all! Awwww! Can Zayden redeem himself? What about his friend Oliver? I so enjoyed this story! Thank you so much for writing in this fresh genre!
This talented duo of authors has done an amazing job in penning this story. This is Rylee and Zayden’s story, and this is an emotional roller coaster journey throughout. Zayden is Rylee’s bullying stepbrother’s best friend, and I must say, he did redeem himself throughout this novel, as I was not too keen on him to begin with. This is a well written flawless story which is filled with angst, drama, insane chemistry, and is an all-round riveting and entertaining read which had me totally hooked from the very beginning, and I look forward to reading more from this gifted collaboration. I highly recommend for all.
Treacherous by Melissa Toppen and Alex Grayson is a wonderful bully/lovers romance which keeps you turning the pages until the very end, just so you can find out what has happened. The story centres around Rylee and Zayden. Rylee has just had to start a new school due to her mother remarrying. It is meant to be the best year of her life, but throw in her new (evil) step-brother Oliver and his best friend, Zayden and that doesn’t look like it’s going to be possible. From the get-go, Oliver is horrible to his sister and Zayden being his best friend, he kind of follows allow, playing some really horrific stunts on Rylee. But at one-point Oliver pushes too far and Zayden isn’t going to put up with it…hence the bully/lovers’ relationship.
What really made this book for me was Rylee, she is a really strong character and after everything that both Oliver and Zayden put her through, she just keeps on getting up, brushing herself off and dealing with it. The talking too that she gives to Oliver is epic after he does something that is pretty shady and she also doesn’t take Zayden and his actions at face value either. There are definitely some likeable things about Zayden, especially in the latter part of the book and he does seem to redeem himself, but I’m going to fly my girl flag here and say Rylee is the better character!
As with most teen books and teens in real life, there is a lot of drama, angst, emotions and more in this book and it certainly is an enjoyable one to read. Although I am secretly thankful that none of the things Rylee went through happened to me as a teen! This is really good storytelling with a fast paced, emotional storyline. If you like the whole bully genre that is going on at the moment, then this one is for you!

Awesome! I love Alex Grayson’s books and when I found out she was co-writing with Melissa Toppen, I was in heaven. I read it and it was everything I hoped it would be. Rylee and Zayne go together like oil and water at first but once they got together, it was like dynamite. I absolutely loved them. The story was intense with emotions and angst and I was so hooked on it. I hope these 2 write together again because they really hit it out of the park!
Rylee is a senior in high school having to change schools and live with her mother’s new husband and son named Oliver. Olive makes sure Rylee knows that he hates her. His best friend since grade school is Zayden. He and Rylee have an attraction but Zayden chooses to go along with Olive in bullying her. Rylee was strong, mature for her age and didn’t put up with any BS from anyone. This was a really good teenage bully story. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out when I picked it up but no worries as I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
Enjoyable bully romance. Love that Rylee didn’t back down and fought back. Zayden had so many layers. I want to see what happens with Oliver and her best friend.
Treacherous kept me intrigued from beginning to end. Zayden and Rylee’s story is a story of young love and the trails and tribulations of growing up. The bullying is cringe worthy, but there are many redeeming moments and great characters. An enemies to lovers story with drama, heartbreak, and a wonderful ending.
Devoured this bad boy in one day!! What an amazing story. Loved every second of it and still need more of Rylee and Zayden. Alex and Melissa did a wonderful job with this book. I hope there is more to come.
I really love going into a book blind which is what I did with Treacherous. Melissa Toppen and Alex Grayson are both top authors for me to one-click, so I had no hesitation in choosing to read this co-written book. I’m not always a fan of Young Adult books with immature teenage characters but I was pleased with this story.
The main characters are older teens who have all experienced some harsh realities of life that have hardened them and exposed their bitter, selfish, and entitled sides. They have mysterious motives for their actions which kept me captivated and intrigued. This is definitely a story with twists and turns, where everybody is suspect, and no one can be trusted. One moment I was smiling and the next had my jaw dropping and my gut wrenching.
Teenage bullies are a very real issue in today’s society and the authors did an amazing job with this topic. Oliver, Zayden, and Rylee are thrown together though circumstances. Rylee is the outsider just trying to make the best out of a bad situation during her senior year. Rylee is a very strong heroine, wise beyond her years, and an all-around sweetheart. Oliver, her stepbrother vindictive selfish brother has a huge chip on his shoulder who has a lot to learn about the consequences of your actions. Zayden is the puzzle piece.
Treacherous was an enjoyable and entertaining story. It definitely has treachery but also has angst, romance, and unbelievable surprises that may gut you and make you hate some of the characters. Whether they are redeemable or not will be up to you to decide. I absolutely recommend this story for any romance reader. It produced lots of feels, a torrent of emotions, and left me feeling satisfied in the end.
Alex Grayson is a one-click author for me, I see her name and I get the book! Don’t even have to know what the book is about. And let me tell you Treacherous does not disappoint! I absolutely loved everything about this book! I didn’t stop reading once I started, from start to finish I was hooked.
Zayden and Rylee are enemies before they even know each other. Rylee’s new step brother Oliver hates her, which automatically makes Zayden hate her. Zayden is drawn to Rylee from the moment she opens the front door and he’s standing there. Zayden is king of the school, and Rylee is just trying to get through her senior year at a new school. They both learned that sometimes people appear in your life when you least expect it, and it doesn’t matter if you fight it, if it’s meant to be it will be. Rylee believed the best in Zayden even when he proved he didn’t deserve it. Zayden fought his attraction to Rylee but lost. She got so far under his skin he couldn’t get her out if he wanted.
Treacherous is absolutely phenomenal! It is absolutely everything I would expect from an Alex Grayson book and more. This is my first book from Melissa Toppen but I can promise it will not be my last! Everything about this book was perfection, the plot, the details, the characters, just everything! I love enemies to lovers and these two authors have delivered one of the best there is! I could not get enough of their words, and even after I had finished I still wanted more! I hope this is not the last time these two authors team up because they delivered an amazing book that left me speechless! All the stars to Toppen and Grayson!
The bad boy and the good girl, kinda sounds familiar right? Well this read is soooo much more than that. I fell in love with Rylee in the first chapter, and holy hell bad boy Zayden is every good girls dream guy. Rylee does not back down from anything it seems and holy has a lot been thrown at her in this book. Amazing read 5 plus stars forsure.
