OMG This book is all the things the writing is beyond perfection just outstanding which left me speechless. The characters and descriptive writing as they interact with each other is magnificent.
I did not like Oliver he was so vindictive but his best friend Zayden holy moly he is dreamy and I love him hard and he stands up for what is right and Rylee and him are pure perfection as they battle the pain, hope and intensity of her bullying I cried for her it was so horrible what a strong girl. This is intense but oh so worth it. Bravo ladies.
What a freaking amazing bully book!
Rylee is the strongest character I’ve read in a very long time. Like she has the biggest “balls” EVER! She’s a warrior. Rylee hoes through complete and utter hell the last few moths of High school but she’s so strong that she comes out in too after everything that has happened.
Zayden starts off as that bad boy bully that’s so dang sexy but you’d live to knock his a$$ out! He isn’t as bad as Oliver who is his best-friend and now Rylees stepbrother. But once the feelings start getting stronger, he starts to change into a protector. Rylee becomes so much more than he ever thought possible.
This young adult story will have you in the edge of your seat. You will feel every single emotion. This book is very hard to put down. So entertaining! So good! A must read!
Highly recommended.
This writing duo is phenomenal! And I can’t wait for more.
*I was given a free advanced copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.*
I have read quite a few High school Bully romances lately and this was one of the better ones. It was hard not to love Zayden when you see his relationship with his little sister – so seeing him with Rylee was hard to take at first. Oliver really lived up to the evil step-brother title, its hard to believe the people can be so mean & hurtful, especially in high school. Savannah was an awesome best friend, her attitude, how she handled Oliver and her support of Rylee. I did like that fact that these characters did not change their plans for college. Besides, I think it was the perfect lead in for another story….
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This book is a bullying romance and absolutely amazing. I loved it so much and I usually have a hard time with bullying books. However this one is so good and I thought one of the sweetest love stories I have read in a long time. I fell so in love with these characters. Rylee has been suddenly pulled from her home and her school and it is her senior year. Her mother got remarried and they moved in with her new husband and a stepbrother that can’t stand the ground she walks one. He has a best friend too Zayden and by association he hates Rylee too and they make her life a living nightmare. You have to read the book to see what all happens and I am telling you know that your going to love it. Your going to be mad and your heart is going to break for Rylee and you will swoon I promise. I devoured this book. You need to read it. Alex Grayson and Melissa Toppen have written one amazing book.
I am going to start with saying I don’t typically read about high school kids. The age is just a bit too young for me. BUT, I love Melissa Toppen and I am a fan of Alex Grayson, so I had to give this one a shot, and boy and I glad that I did. This was the story of Zayden and Rylee. Rylee’s mom remarried and her new husband has a son, Oliver. Oliver’s best friend is Zayden. It starts out with Zayden and Oliver giving Rylee a hard time during her first days at her new school, teasing, bullying, etc., even getting more and more people involved. Somehow Zayden started to realize that what they were doing to Rylee was not right and it was taking things too far… he was also starting to realize how much he actually liked Rylee. It was a typical high school-type story to me with the high school behavior, high school feelings, etc., but I still really enjoyed how the relationship developed between Rylee and Zayden. He was really a great guy disguising himself as a bad boy. He takes care of his sick sister by working hard, underground fighting to make money, and spending all of his spare time with her when his father has to be at work. Not the life a typical teenage boy would lead, and Zayden you will come to see is not a typical teenage boy. If you love YA and teenage romance you will love this. If you are not a fan, you will still love this story! I liked the writing duo of Melissa Toppen and Alex Grayson and I hope they continue to collaborate!
What a trippy ride! Treacherous by Alex Grayson and Melissa Toppen is the first book that I have read by these two and I can guarantee it won’t be the last. This book is a page-turner and was hard to put down. Well written with exciting characters and a thrilling story line I absolutely LOVED this book. Kudos to the two amazing authors for a job well done. 5 stars for Treacherous by Alex Grayson and Melissa Toppen.
Oliver has a new stepsister, Rylee Harper, and he HATES her. Luckily Oliver’s best friend Zayden Michaels always has his back and Oliver knows “Z” will help him get rid of Rylee no questions asked. Rylee has never met anyone as gorgeous as Zayden but unfortunately, he isn’t as pretty on the inside and the bullying starts almost immediately. Rylee can’t help that she is attracted to Zayden no matter how much he torments her, and “Z” hates the way that Rylee secretly makes him feel. With drama heating up at school Rylee and Zayden somehow find themselves being pushed closer together. No matter how Treacherous it gets Zayden refuses to leave Rylee on her own at least until things in their inner circle get turned upside down.
I knew these two authors individually do an awesome job and together they were explosive!!! Zayden and Rylee has me consumed from beginning to end and I wanted more!!!! Rylee was not happy with starting a new school in the middle of her senior year after her mom remarried. She didn’t expect her new stepbrother Oliver to be so terrible but also wasn’t expecting his hot as son best friend either. When Zayden first saw Rylee he was speechless but then he automatically hated her because of his best friend Oliver. He couldn’t get her out of his mind and little by little she was consuming all of him until he couldn’t take it anymore. Rylee despises Zayden because of the pranks he’s pulled off with Oliver against her but she’s been harboring a crush since the first time she laid eyes on him. Little by little she tries to think that he’s different from Oliver but she’s still not convinced until he comes to her rescue when Oliver has taken it too far. Even Oliver sees how much Zayden cares for Rylee. When they are together they are just wow; the way he is with her is just so swoony. As things progressed Oliver does it again and the things that happen afterwards will have you wondering how these two will come out on top. Then Oliver surprises me and Zayden proves that Rylee is his top priority besides his father and sister. These two were made for each other and I love how the authors didn’t make everything so jolly with all of them towards the end. Everything was so real and I loved seeing the outcome. I actually want more of this couple.
Wow! This bully romance was amazing! I’ve always been a fan but this one packed a few punches that I wasn’t expecting and made it so much more than I had expected. These authors done an amazing job with this book. The characters are great and the storyline is an absolute Page-turner. Treacherous is an emotional roller coaster ride full of ups and downs, twist and turns and even a little of the unexpected. Rylee and Zayden are absolutely amazing in this enemies to lovers bully romance. Their journey isn’t an easy one and it’s full of lies, secrets, betrayal, deceit, friends, family, drama and unexpected love.
“He started out as my bully. Then he became my protector. And now, he is the love of my life. “ Rylee
Highly recommended!
I started this book and couldn’t put it down.
Finished it in one sitting.
It had me griped from the start.
The story is emotional and painful.
It’s intense and there is so much turmoil going on.
Bullying in many cases have intentionally consequences.
Some of these characters took the bullying to a whole other level.
It was hard to deal with at times.
Because the authors did an incredible job in describing the events and the feelings that are stirring with the characters.
I admired Rylee tremendously.
She is such an incredible young lady.
Raised by her mom to be strong and not back down in the face of adversary.
Yet still be compassionate and caring.
I also really liked Zayden.
He is a complex character.
He carries a burden and responsibilities that are so beyond his age.
I hope Ms. Grayson and Ms. Toppen give Pierce,Oliver and Savannah their own stories as well.
This book was an intense and angsty enemies to lovers story.
If you love a good High School bully romance then you’ll love Treacherous.
Zayden Michaels is dark, brooding and ooh so alluring. He’s the main man on campus, all the girls want him and all the guys wish they were him.
I really liked Zayden he was unpredictable and quite a deep character. He may come across as quite arrogant but you need to dig a little deeper, see more than the mask he wears so well.
Rylee is a fantastic heroine, I loved the way she stood up for herself and didn’t crumble easily. She was witty and incredibly resilient. There were times I wanted to hug her and times I wanted to high five her strength.
Zayden and Rylee will definitely take you on an emotionally charged journey, so buckle and enjoy the ride.
I’ve really loved these two Authors writing together. The plot flowed well and kept me glued to the pages.
Hopefully they decide to write another story with Characters from Treacherous. There are two in particular who I’d love to see get their books, so fingers crossed.
**4.5 Stars**
I went into this book completely blind, but love all the books I have read by Alex Grayson and this turned out to be no exception. I was completely sucked in from the start.
Rylee finds herself living with her new stepbrother, Oliver, after her mother remarries, and he turns into her biggest nightmare, especially when it comes to school and hindering any hope that she might be able to make friends and have a fun senior year.
Zayden is Oliver’s best friend and hence also an enemy of Rylee’s, until one day he decides things have gone too far and almost takes on a more protective role towards Rylee, at which point things get very interesting and head in a totally new and different direction.
Treacherous is full of scheming, betrayal, angst and all the drama. My heart really felt for Rylee amidst all she went through throughout this book. I really disliked Zayden’s behavior and attitude towards Rylee at the beginning, but appreciated seeing growth in his character throughout the book. I did like how he was with his father and sister and that he was a good friend even if his actions were flawed at times.
This book was highly engaging and very well written. I think the duo of authors did a great job on this collaboration and I would definitely love to read more from them in the future.
I thought I was burnt out on the bully genre. But then Treacherous came along and I realized that no…I was ready for more.
Rylee’s mom has remarried in the middle of her senior year of high school, and her new stepbrother has decided that she is an interloper and she doesn’t belong. But he’s not alone in the bullying; he’s accompanied by his best friend Zayden who is basically the king of her new high school.
Zayden participates in the bullying as a support to his best friend, but the more he’s around Rylee, the more he wants her, and to get to know her. So he’s conflicted. And that’s one of the best parts of this novel. So many of the bully romances from this summer, there seemed to be little hesitation on the part of the bully. But Zayden didn’t seem as involved from the beginning. His protectiveness towards Rylee started early in their “relationship.”
Rylee was the star of this story. Like you all know, I can’t resist a strong heroine. She was strong and assertive, yet still sweet, understanding, and down to Earth.
Overall Treacherous was addictive and amazing. A wonderful five star read.
Melissa Toppen is a new to me author so wasn’t sure what to expect going into this co written book with one of my favourite suspense authors.
Was nicely done, although from the blurb and the way Alex normally writes I was expecting more suspense to be involved.
The attention to detail, especially when there were two authors, was impressive.
Would be interested to read if they decide to make a series out of it.
Hooked from the beginning!! Must read!! Zayden, best friend of new step brother to Rylee and Rylee, thrown into a new family and new school. Z and Rylee have instant attraction! New step brother who hates her……Is the attraction enough to change the bad boy ways of Zayden to protect Rylee when she needs it? Couldn’t put it down!!
Thank you Alex and Melissa this book is a wonderful journey with a lot of emotions. Finding her selves on a new school in a new city in an new home with a new stepbrother in het last school year is a challenge. This story got me from happy to sad and everything in between. I think I can say this collaboration is a great one for more books.
Facts: I’m early 60’s. This story is about high school seniors. One would think I should have sent Treacherous back to the authors, but instead I started reading and didn’t stop until I was at 72%. Things have changed a lot since I was of this age, but even then I wasn’t one that attended parties, nor was I in a “click”. For as much drama that plays out in Treacherous, I admired the respect of Rylee for her Mom. I found Zayden’s character entreguing. He played the bad boy persona to a T but showed amazing love and loyalty to his family. The hero of the story was Charles. He took a chance! This story doesn’t have just one, but two villains plus their minions. I’m so glad my teen years are well behind me, but this story and its scenario makes me cringe for my grandchildren.
The writing of this story is seamless, but the cover lists two authors! Well done ladies!
