I didn’t meant to cross over into Faerie. It was an accident. And now… now I’m in jail.
Fairy jail. It’s a thing. When I refused the attentions of a Seelie noble, I earned myself a one-way ticket to Siúcra, the most infamous prison in the Fae Queen’s court.I’m still reeling over the fact that the fae are real. That Faerie is a real place, and that there are real consequences to being a human … place, and that there are real consequences to being a human surrounded by the amazingly gorgeous—if also amazingly heartless—creatures in this world.
Their cruelty doesn’t stop after I’m captured. Turns out, I’m the only human in my wing of the prison. And, I find out pretty quickly, the only female.
Ah, crap.
Thank goodness for Rys. He might not be the friendliest cellmate, but so long as I don’t ask him questions about why he’s locked up, he’s willing to watch my back. Know what? That totally works for me, especially since I can’t seem to keep my eyes off of his.
I’m in jail. Falling for another prisoner should be the last thing on my mind. Then again, Rys is a Light Fae. A Seelie. He’s one of them. Sure, he might be stuck here with me now, but he used to guard this place. He knows the way out—he just doesn’t want to leave.
He’s got a past. One look at the ragged scar ruining his otherwise perfect fae features and even I can tell that he’s not as innocent as he claims. But no matter how hard I try to get him to see things my way, he refuses to get involved.
Just like he refuses to admit that he can sense the crazy attraction brewing between us.
It started out as protection before it blossomed into something… more, whether he wants to pretend or not. And when he finally decides it’s time for him to break free, I know I’ll do whatever I have to to make sure that he takes me with him.
**Trapped is the first book in an exciting new Fae series by the author of Touched by the Fae. Featuring a directionally-challenged, mouthy human heroine, the scarred Light Fae who’d rather stay in jail, and their quest to save Faerie together—well, once they break out of Siúcra, that is.
It’s also a steamy supernatural prison romance, with a bunch of profanity, an attempted sexual assault (don’t worry, the guy gets what’s coming to him!), and is fully intended for adult readers only.

Beware what you wish… for it can turn into a nightmare…
„Trapped“ is the first full installment in Jessica Lynch’s “Imprisoned by the Fae” and starts right into the action as Elle is on her way to Siúcra, the Faerie prison, condemned after having rejected to the ‘touched’ by a Fae Lord. Touch of a humans provides the Fae with a source of power but must be given freely. Even when coerced and confronted with the choice between submission or going to prison, Elle still refuses, and ended up in Siúcra.
Elle is the only human in the facility and is held in an initially empty wing, however there is another prisoner in the wing, Rys, a handsome Seelie and former Siúcra watcher. The starting relationship between Elle and Rys can only be described as unfriendly bordering in hostile, but after a short period apart, they will have to reluctantly unite their forces against the watchers….. with unpredictable consequences.
Elle is a complex main character, a mix of pure childish naiveté, down-to-earth resourcefulness and resilience, who evolves through her vicissitudes in Faerie. A prequel, “Tricked”, tell the story of how exactly Elle ended up in Siúcra, and although is by not means necessary to read the prequel to understand the story, as all pertinent information is given by Elle herself at the beginning of “Trapped”, I would herewith recommend the prequel nevertheless, just because it is a great read and add another layer to the story.
Jessica Lynch Faerie is a carefully crafted fantasy world that spin broad spread fairy-tale assumptions, with more dark interpretations of the myth. Elle herself has been obsessed with fairy-tales’ misconceptions and half-truths since she was a little girl. It serves her ill sometimes (bringing her to Faerie in the first place) and very well at others (as she obstinately refuses to give her real name).
The book is a fast read with a good mixture of action and very well-done character descriptions. Elle is very relatable and shows a complex personality that contrast with Rys’ guarded attitude and his secretive nature. The story is well paced, holding the interest of the reader until the very last sentence…. Which undoubtedly call for more… and the fast release of the second book. This is a series intended for mature readers as some Faerie aspects are not in the least your usual Fairy-tale content.
At first I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book. To be quite honest it had me completely confused at the beginning. Since I didn’t read the prequel to the series.
[Spoiler]The story follows a girl named Elle and her life in a Fairy Prison. In this prison she’s placed in a ward where there’s only one other person/Fae. At first she’s alone. She’s this way for several days until finally a beautiful light Fae shows up. She learns that he’s called Rys. After several days and a lockdown she’s moved to another cell. In this cell is another female. A succubus named Posey. They become friends. No matter Posey’s little habit that has an effect on Elle.
There’s a guard by the name of Dusk who’s got his eye on Elle, because she’s an ‘unmarked and unclaimed’ Human. One day Dusk takes her out of Posey’s cell and put’s her back in the ward where she was originally, but not in her original cell. This time in the same cell with Rys. Only to find Rys not there. Only to learn later where and why. One day Dusk comes for Elle and Rys puts up a fight to keep her in the cell. Elle reluctantly goes with Dusk and finds that it’s to a communication mirror.
Who’s on the other side? Well that’s for y’all to find out. The end result isn’t pretty. Dusk attempts to touch Elle without her consent by forcing her to give consent. Hoping that makes sense. Since the Fae rely heavily on touch magic and Elle being untouched.
Rys had given her a gift of Fairy Fire that she’d stashed under the cot in their cell. She dived under the cot and pulled it out. She opened up the cage and let loose the fire on Dusk. I thought it was the funniest part of the book. Her reaction to what she had done. She ends up being punished and thrown to the “shadows” where she finds Rys. Here she tells Rys “yes” to being touched. Back up in their cell after a few days or hours Elle’s not really sure, Rys claims her. Soon after they escape from jail by making sacrifices. As to what those are, you’ll have to read to find out.[spoiler]
This book didn’t fall under my normal reading genre, but I found it to be very enjoyable. I’d like to thank Jessica for taking the time to write it. I just didn’t care for the way it ended.
