For wealthy socialite Katrina Vandenburg, business meetings and charity galas are all part of her orderly, structured world—one that gets blown to hell after finding two dead bodies in the same day. The police think she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. FBI Special Agent Dayne Andrews thinks otherwise. Dayne and his K-9, Remy, are tracking a cold-blooded killer, and that trail…leads … straight to Kat.
Kat and her rescue shelter—the Canine Haven—are the only common denominators between the murders, and Dayne is convinced she’s dead center in the killer’s sights. Protecting her will test every ounce of his steely resolve. She’s the most intriguing woman he’s ever met. And everything he shouldn’t want. Too bad neither of them seem to have gotten the memo.
And they need to focus on catching a killer now more than ever. Because if Dayne and Remy fail in their mission, nothing will stand between Kat and the killer’s deadly blade.

This is an entertaining, well-written, steamy, romantic suspense novel. It has likable, engaging characters, murder, mystery, intrigue, suspense and action. The female protagonist is a wealthy socialite who is strong, down to earth and generous. The male protagonist is a heroic, hot FBI agent. There is a wonderful K-9 hero, a cute puppy, and a happily ever after ending. It is an excellent addition to Ms. O’Fallon’s outstanding “Federal K-9” series, and can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone.
Wow, how many times can you say you just read the perfect book? Not many. Me, neither. But this is it. The perfect blend of nail-biting suspense and steamy romance, “Trap ‘n Trace” is a book you won’t be able to put down.
Dayne Andrews, my new book boyfriend, is swoon-worthy. He’s smart, sexy as hell, and riveting –but, even better, he’s not perfect. He’s so well drawn, I could swear he’s real.
As for Kat Vandenburg, she’s a spunky heroine with real grit, but still vulnerable. Also totally believable. The plot is so engrossing, I couldn’t bear to put the book down and neglected my own work to read. That’s how good it is. And did I mention there isn’t one wasted word in the whole book? If you’re looking to escape on a fabulous emotional and suspenseful roller coaster ride, this is the book for you. Just bought another in the series and am clearing my schedule to give it my full attention.
I really liked the story. It had everything I look for, romance, suspense, and intrigue. With every page I turned, I kept thinking I knew what was next, but I was wrong! Which was fantastic! With as many romantic suspense stories I read, I love when the book can catch me off guard. Will definitely be placed in my reread library with my other favorites.
I like the story. The reasoning behind the crimes was so real. I enjoyed how Kat’s experience opened her eyes to the relationships in her life. Even Dwayne has things to learn and decisions to make to ensure that this relationship had a chance.
I was not a fan of the cursing and sex but I could skip those parts.
I received this book from the Netgalley and the opinions expressed are entirely my own.
A great heartwarming story between an FBI agent and wealthy socialite Katrina. I loved the book the action, suspense, mystery, the dogs, and how love blossoms between a hard-hearted agent and a woman who just wants to be loved. Both Kat and Dayne are really great persons and easy to love. Together they make a likable beach read.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
Excellent book! I love this entire series and this one just makes it all the better. Excellent writing gives the story a nice easy flow and the characters are well developed and intriguing. The perfect recipe for a relaxing read. Through in a great dog like Remy and you have a sure winner. Put this one at the top of the tbr pile. I highly recommend it.
What a suspenseful storyline that keeps you guessing! Finding a lost puppy at her shelter, wealthy Katrina researches the owner and on her way home returns it to their owner. This is where things go badly – instead of returning the puppy she finds the owner, a former FBI agent, dead. Taking the puppy home, she realizes she needs supplies from the shelter and later that night when she goes to pick some up, finds another murder except this one is in process! Attacked but not dead, Dayne decides to keep watch of Katrina while they try to find out why both women were killed and what the motive was. As they find out more information, they initially think the killer is after Katrina, which would make somewhat sense because of her wealthy status, but the truth will shock you! I loved the different twists and turns throughout this storyline that kept me guessing not only who the murderer was but also the motive behind it all. And throughout the suspense, Katrina finds the love she always wished for with Dayne, although not without the back and forth and doubts that typically happen. This was my first book from Tee but I absolutely loved it and I will definitely be going back and reading the books previous in the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Most of you guys already know I’m a romantic suspense junkie (thank you, Nora Roberts, for spawning my addiction!). So, of course, I was going to read Trap ‘N Trace. I’ve read all of the Federal K-9 series books and have absolutely enjoyed my time in this world that Tee O’Fallon has dreamt up for us. They are all standalone titles, but in addition to being a romantic suspense junkie, I’m a series junkie, so I always recommend all of the books in a series. Even with standalone books, I still think you get a better reading experience when you read them all. But truthfully, that is JUST me and my humble opinion.
NICUnurse’s Rating: I always play this game when I read romantic suspense. I try to figure out the twists and turns and who is the bad guy in each book. The ones that I really enjoy the most are the ones that I can’t figure it out until the climax of the story. Trap ‘N Trace totally won this game as I did NOT see that final twist coming. The breadcrumbs dropped along the way were small enough to keep me following the trail without being able to pinpoint where this story was going to end. Needless to say, it kept me turning the pages and not wanting to put my iPad down, even when I needed to. I loved the conflict between the hero and heroine’s worlds. One is firmly planted in the upper echelon of society (Katrina) and one is firmly rooted in the middle class (Dayne). With such a huge gap in their lives and life experiences, having a relationship work between these two is a huge challenge. If you want to know if they are up to the challenge, you’ll need to read the book! Romantic suspense fans, it’s hard to be disappointed in a book by Tee O’Fallon, so I wholeheartedly recommend this book and all of her Federal K-9 series books…and any of her other books!
I give Trap ‘N Trace by Tee O’Fallon 4 out of 5 stars!
Hot FBI Agent, socialite philanthropist, and cuteness personified doggies! This just hit all my buttons. This triggers all the feels and I defy you not to tear up in places.
Dayne & his K-9 partner are a dynamite team! Katrina could have been a 2D, wealthy socialite with no personality. But not in this series! Kat is strong, independent with a big dollop of naive. She is as shy as she is generous. I’ve always believed money brings its own problems and Kat? Well, she has more money than Midas.
These two leads worked fantastically together, the chemistry leaped off the page. Kat’s little canine rescue pup is just adorable. I loved sorting through all the intricate threads of the story.
This is the 4th book in the Federal K-9 series and can absolutely be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the previous books first as they are interconnected and enjoyable reads as well. In this one we get Katrina and Dayne’s story. Kat is a wealthy socialite who runs a rescue shelter. Dayne is tracking a killer and the trail leads straight to her rescue and her. They are the only thing in common with the murders, and he believes she will be the next target. Now it’s a race to not only solve the crime but to keep her safe.
This book starts off with a bang and keeps that going throughout the whole book. These two are from completely different worlds but they compliment each other like you wouldn’t believe possible. Dayne is what you would expect someone in his position to be-alpha, protective but with a sweet side. Kat may come from money but she isn’t afraid to do the things that need to be done. She is smart, business savvy, but also completely lovable which really surprised me. I wasn’t sure I would like her and I absolutely did. The story is definitely fast paced and keeps you reading from start to finish, or at least it did for me!
‘Trap ‘N’ Trace’ is the fourth title in the ‘Federal K-9‘ series, and although I haven’t read the previous titles (I have them, simply ran out of time before this review was due) I wasn’t the least bit lost as anything I’d need to know was in the dialogue or narrative.
While first impressions matter, they can also be very, very wrong. Such is the case for Dayne when he runs into Kat again under far different circumstances. This time around the very rich woman has discovered two dead bodies in one day and the only thing that seems to connect those two murders… is her. As Dayne and his K-9 partner, Remy, go into protection mode he will discover that Kat is very different from what he first assumed. No stuck-up socialite who looks down on the world from her ivory tower, Kat is devoted to the animals at her rescue shelter and completely at ease with all of her employees who also adore her. So, what is the connection? That’s what Dayne is determined to discover, along with keeping Kat safe… and maybe falling under her spell along the way.
It’s hard for me to say which I loved more – one rambunctious little puppy named Angus or one devoted working dog, Remy, who took a little one under their paw, so to speak, in watching over a little bundle of fur… or the humans who were trying so hard to solve a dangerous puzzle and definitely falling in love as they followed clues down twisting pathways. It’s probably a tie between them in reality. Dayne and Kat are such a good pairing, both have hidden qualities, both are a bit stubborn, and each completes the other in all the ways that matter without changing a thing about themselves. Of course, there are potholes along the way to a happy ending, but that just makes arriving at the destination all the sweeter.
‘Trap ‘N’ Trace‘ is full of twists, turns, and unexpected discoveries. And some painful realizations for Kat. Being wealthy and powerful isn’t always all it’s thought to be. Dayne has to not only protect Kat but change his thinking about a woman who is so devoted to the lost or forgotten animals she shelters. Each has layers, and it was fascinating to watch their true selves be revealed. A really good puzzle to solve, some sizzling moments, adorable pups, and heroic working dogs and a couple to make you believe in romance once again – all combined made this story one I was easily swept up in and will be re-reading again. If you love a really good Romantic Suspense with dogs tossed in for good measure, then you’ll want to pick up Dayne and Kat’s story real soon.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Love, danger and puppies – a brilliant combination…
I love reading a new book in this series because each becomes the latest best of the bunch! Katrina was unexpected – a beyond rich woman with a heart of gold. When she found not one but two bodies in a single day she deserved FBI agent Dayne Andrews protecting her six. Handsome, capable, and good with kids and dogs? Yeah, he was a keeper. They were from either side of the proverbial tracks though which meant assumptions and pre-conceived notions that had to be knocked down one at a time…
Full of tension and suspense, Katrina and Dayne lived and loved their way through a romance peppered with mystery, danger and beyond adorable puppies. Great storytelling seems effortless and that was exactly what this one-sitting read felt like. I hope there is more because I am no way done with the Federal K-9 squad!

This was right in what I have been reading alot of lately. Murder and intrigue enough to keep you flipping and the romance to warm the heart. Katrina has been taken into a tailspin with her discovery. Then we have Dayne whom is with the FBI and his K-9 which makes this read a treat. He thinks something other then the general consensus. Because he is on the track and protects her he discovers whom is Katrina. As that happens and we get further into this one the chemistry meter is rising. Needing answers is what we are searching for too so this one engages you in every way.
Absolutely Phenomenal Suspense Romance . I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy through Netgalley of Trap And Trace .

Trap ‘N’ Trace is the fourth book in the Federal K-9 series. It is another amazing read and a great addition to the series. It pulled me in from the beginning and kept me riveted until the end. It was a fast-paced, suspenseful read with an intriguing storyline that flowed seamlessly. Kat and Dayne were wonderful characters with great chemistry. Add in the adorable dogs and this is a MUST READ.
5 stars
Katrina, a wealthy socialite, finds two dead bodies in one day. She was returning a puppy when she finds a former FBI agent dead. Then later that evening she goes to Canine Haven, a charity she runs, and finds her manager dead and the killer still there. She fights him off and he gets away. Dayne, a K-9 handler and FBI agent who is assisting with the case, and his German shepherd partner, Remy, gives chase but lose him. He decides her security could be handled by him only and becomes her bodyguard. While hunting for the killer, the sparks fly between them but Dayne of course thinks their worlds is just too different. Even though he knows he’s not the right man for her, he can’t resist the beautiful woman. Can Dayne save the woman he has falling for and get over his own insecurities?
First time reading this author and I freaking loved this story. Action, suspense, two adorable dogs, and sexual tension. The characters are well written and the story will grab you and not let go.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
Trap ‘N Trace is a story of people from two different worlds. Katrina is a billionaire and Dayne is a K-9 Special Agent with the FBI. When danger throws them together they have to fight the chemistry between them. As they struggle they find they have more in common than they thought. But will it be enough? Won’t matter if they don’t survive.
This story is filled with love, misundertandings and dogs. Angus is an adorable sidekick for Remy. I heartily recommend this great romantic suspense.
This story may be part of a series but stands well on its own.
Trap ‘N’ Trace by Tee O’Fallon is a fast-paced romantic suspense that epitomises the concept of being in the wrong place at the wrong time! I’ve been a fan of Tee’s Federal K-9 series since the beginning, and I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed every one. I mean hot alpha males with soft centres, mystery and suspense, lots of romance, and let’s not forget the dogs!!! Who could ask for more?
In Trap ‘N’ Trace, we get to revisit Dayne and Katrina who had met in a previous book, although to say they did not make a good impression on each other was a bit of an understatement.
All the preconceived notions and ideas of stereotypes were all strongly in Dayne’s head, and it was fun to watch him slowly realise that Katrina is not the person he assumed she was. That’s not to say there wasn’t any personal growth for Katrina. Although she didn’t have any pre-conceived bias against Dayne, it was interesting to watch how she had to deal with her own relationships; that what had happened to her had changed her, and that the superficial socialite friendships were no longer fulfilling for her.
This one kept me guessing until it was finally revealed who the killer was. I had all sorts of theories going on, but absolutely none of them were even close! I love a good red herring, and this author is fantastic at writing them!
If you enjoy a well written, character-driven romantic suspense, then I can’t recommend Trap ‘N’ Trace highly enough. This book can be read as a standalone, and it’s not detrimental to the enjoyment of the book to have not read the others. I do suggest that you do read the rest of the series, even if you go back after this one, it’s a much richer story when you know all the details, and the books are so much fun it’s not a hardship!
Trap ‘N’ Trace is the first book written by Tee O’Fallon that I have read. I was so impressive and found the book just my cup of tea that I have already gotten the first in the series. There are several before this one so I have some catching up to do. Still this story of Kat and Dayne is complete in itself.
I requested the book based on the cover not the description. K-9 stories are some of my favorite. I was prepared to be disappointed by the description which read like Keven Costner with a dog in The Bodyguard. What a wonderful surprise to read and see that this story has so much substance and police thriller suspense to it that it is a hundred times better. I liked both of the main character from the beginning even when they didn’t like each other so much. What lessons in not stereotyping to assuming to know someone by their name, appearance or financial status. Then the police work has an authenticity to it making me believe that this is how cases are solved one step at a time. As for the romance, I found it believable too. It had a slow burn to it until it wildly combusted.
If like me you have been looking for more since reading D.D. Ayers’ K9 Rescue, this is the book for you. I loved the people, the dogs and the story in this one. While I am catching up on the previous book in this series, I can only hope for many more K-9 stories from Tee O’Fallon
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
There are books that you read and you don’t want to miss one word of the story…this is one of those books! The first meeting between wealthy Katrina Vandenburg and FBI Special Agent Dayne Andrews did not go well, but it was far better than this one. They meet again when Kat stumbles across the body of a former FBI agent, a friend of Dayne’s. Dayne and his K9 partner, Remy, are assigned to protect Kat as someone is after information and now believes that Kat has that information. Dayne is surprised at how genuine Kat is, not what he was expecting from such a wealthy woman. Although Kat is never sure if a man is interested in her or her money, Dayne has made it clear that his job is to keep her safe. I highly recommend this entire series – romance, suspense, danger and two main characters who are total opposites, but can’t ignore the red-hot attraction between them. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
