“In another life, she was my forever.” An unexpected tragedy leaves Professor Nathaniel Hunt a widower alone with a newborn baby. He hires a nanny. She’s young, but well-qualified, with a simple life, a crazy name obsession, and a boyfriend she met at the grocery store. Over time, he discovers she knows things about him—things that happened before she was born—like a hidden scar on his head, his … hidden scar on his head, his favorite pizza, and how he cheated on a high school Spanish test.
She speaks familiar words and shares haunting memories that take him back to over two decades earlier when he lost his best friend in a tragic accident.
“I’m afraid of what’s going to happen when you realize I’m not her.”
Transcend is a sexy, mind-bending journey that uncovers possibilities, challenges beliefs, and begets the age-old question: is there life after death?

“The people in our lives give color to our existence. When we love, we choose to let part of our heart–part of our soul–live inside of another person. Their happiness is our happiness. Their grief is our grief. and when they die…part of us dies too.”
W-O-W! This is the type of book u MUST go into blind. Do NOT read the any reviews. Heck, if you can resist DON’T read the blurb. TRUST ME! Experience it without any idea of what is in store because I PROMISE you, that you will glued to the story from the VERY beginning and left trying to bend reality to your liking. With this book, you need to open your mind to certain aspects that seem so out of the realm of possibilities, but the way in how Jewel’s wrote and captured that essence of this type of story, left my world shaken and left me torn in two opposite directions. At this point, my heart is literally yearning for TWO different HEA’s and I can’t force my mind to choose. It’s IMPOSSIBLE! #GroceryStoreGuy vs #MyNate. I have been warned that I will be in physical pain by the end of this book….#buckleupbuttercup. TRANSCEND is the most unique triangle I have EVER read. It is unique because it defies the rules of reality…like the blurb says, “Is there life after death?” I sure hope so after reading this book!
I’m a fairly new fan of Jewel E Ann’s, but I am learning REAL fast, that she is in no short supply of
throwing me for a loop while reading. Her writing is potent and addictive! Jewel’s writes extremely LOVABLE male characters (all of them) and unforgettably powerful stories. There’s angst, intrigue, mystery, LOVE, emotions….EVERYTHING a good romance novel needs. And TRANSCEND was loaded with all of that and then some! TRANSCEND truly was a mind-bending experience and I am SO glad I waited for this duet to be complete because I would’ve been dying from the wait if I had started it without book 2 out. Even as I type this, I am leaning toward my phone in anticipation to start book 2, EPOCH. I am anxious and scared to start it, but isn’t that the reason we read stories like this…the anticipation? I CRAVE it, and the TRANSCEND is doing that for me.
“We don’t love with our brains, we love with our hearts. We love on instinct. Love is undefinable and resides in all of us. There is no requirements to love someone.” -Nate.
Audio: AMAZING! I highly recommend upgrading to the audio version. The narrators do a PHENOMENAL job.
5 stars
Ten minutes later. Five minutes earlier. A different line. A million other tweaks of fate could have changed the course of my life.”
I’ve never read this author before but the blurb grabbed me and I wanted to read this book. However I was only a few pages in second guessing that decision, thinking is this the first book you do not finish. I’m rather stubborn and decided that this book wasn’t going to get the best of me so I plodded on through the pages. By the end of the second chapter I had been drawn into the web and have purchased Epoch so I can start it as soon as I write this review.
Swayze lived her first 21 years on this earth being moved around and trying to decipher what was wrong with her. She underwent medical and psychological testing and still had no answers. It was after one of these appointments that she ran into Nate. Which left her with more questions and confused as to why he didn’t seem to know her.
Nathaniel Hunt is a grieving widower with a one month old daughter. Trying to juggle life as a new father and his career he seeks help from a nanny. The girl outside of the doctors office is at his door applying for the position. She quite literally turns his life upside down by questioning his parenting methods. There are things that only his best friend knew about, but somehow she knows too.
Outstandingly well written and original storytelling!! Has ALL the feels!! Couldn’t put it down!! This one is going to stay with me for a long time!! On to book 2!!
This is the first book I have read by this author and it was a great introduction to her work… It was different.
I loved the plot, the characters and the concept of reincarnation… This has always intrigued me and I felt the author tackled it well and fell inline with my beliefs. The story progressed at a slow rate but this was necessary to build the interaction between the characters. So many questions and not enough answers! I loved Griffin… Damn if Jewel didn’t write the perfect boyfriend. My heart broke for Nate/ Nathaniel… the losses he has suffered and the situations he has had to adapt to in this thirty plus years made my heart break. I could feel the tension build between Swayze and Nate as he thinks she’s his lost childhood sweetheart.
Told from a dual POV (but mainly Swayze’s) The tension starts to build in the last 30% of the book as memories start to come flooding back for Swayze. The book finishes on an OMG! moment… I was constantly watching my % for the last 10% knowing full well this was going to end at the most inconvenient part of the story… OK Jewel, you’ve hooked me and I desperately need answers.
I will be following this author from now on and make it my goal to read her back catalogue. I need book two like I need my next breath!
This was Unique. Interesting. Different. Intense. I couldn’t stop reading YET I’m unsure *head scratching* What was this? and Where is it going?
I’m on to Epoch …. *fingers crossed*
Different and wonderful, this book deals with reincarnation!! The author writes about this in a manner that you accept it as normal, like an everyday occurrence. I was thrilled to read this book.
OMFG THIS BOOK IS CRACK AND YES I’M SHOUTING!! I can’t even begin to describe my love for this story and these characters. Jewel E. Ann is crazy talented and I held my breath till the very last page. Griffin, Swayze, and Nate… I’m so invested in this whole story and I don’t know how to survive until Epoch comes out. I search for these types of books, and when I find one, it’s like hitting the lottery. I cried, my stomach was in knots, and I fell in love. So I’ll be over here breathing into a paper bag waiting to see how it all unfolds. Just brilliant. All the stars!!!
This is a beautiful well written haunting story of love, reincarnation, and choices. I couldn’t put this book down. The ending broke my heart and left me craving more. I can’t wait to read epoch. This is definitely a must read book, it will feed your soul
Jewel E Ann is a very creative writer who keep you guessing. Her stories are never predictable and Transcend does not disappoint. This story follows Swayze, Griffen who is Swayze’s boyfriend, aka grocery store guy and Nate. But it’s not a really love triangle. Swayze works as a nanny to the recently widowed Professor Nate’s infant daughter. Swayze knows things about a younger Nate that can’t be explained. But Nate has his theory. This is where the story gets interesting and you have no ideal where it will go. So you keep reading to see what happens next. I am waiting with anticipation for the soon to be released conclusion, Epoch.
This is a new type of book for me, romance with reincarnation thrown in. This book definitely has to be followed by the second book, Epoch, which I’m currently reading. The characters have a lot going on and sometimes their thought processes or lack thereof get a bit tedious, but I feel they are necessary considering the subject matter. I’ve already recommended this book and its companion to two friends. Now I’ll make it a public recommendation.
.
An incredibly, emotional roller-coaster ride of a story that gives you all the feels.
The writing was so beautiful. The story just tore at the heart strings and kept me questioning everything.
Nathaniel is grieving the loss of his wife. He’s now a single dad raising his newborn daughter. He needs a nanny to help him with his daughter, which is how Swayze comes into his life.
Swayze is twenty-one, in a serious relationship with Her boyfriend and searching for work. And when she meets Nate…she knows him. They have never met, but she knows about his childhood, a scar he got playing hockey amongst other things.
She takes the position as Nanny but she begins to question what’s real or what’s possible. Nate has his own theory but Swayze just can’t wrap her head around it.
This was a story that took you from one emotion to the next and back again. And that ending left me wantung more! This story was hauntingly beautiful and I look forward to finding out the conclusion in Epoch.
This book did strange things to me. I’m not kidding I’m in such a mess.
I feel emotional and raw after reading this. It’s such an unusual and unique story.
It’s very thought provoking and beautiful. It’s one of those that will stay with me for a long time. I’ve already spent the whole day thinking about this book.
The lives of Swayze, Griffin & Nathaniel are imprinted on my Soul. I love them all and I’m not afraid to admit I’m terrified of what’s going to happen next. I can feel my heart shattering into a million pieces already.
But I need to know what’s next for these three even if I don’t think I’m prepared at all for the out come.
I’m not saying anything about this book to give any hints away. but trust me you want to read this one.
It’ll make you think that anything is possible and maybe it is…who knows for sure.
Transcend is going on my list of Top Reads that everyone should experience.
This is Transcend, book one of the Transcend Duet, written by the amazingly talented Jewel E Ann. What an incredible book this is! Jewel E Ann never fails to capture us and hold us prisoner as she bruises and beats us. I feel like I have been through an emotional ringer! And, hot damn! Griffin is sexy AF! I must know the whole story! Bring on part 2! I’ll be sitting quietly in the corner while I wait….and boy will I wait!
Holy smokes…this book is amazing! Wow…my mind has been blown away! Reincarnation is something I am quite curious about! I am completely in love with Swayze, Nate and Griffin! The past, present and future are so twisted and I need more! This book is deeply ingrained in and I can’t wait sit to read read the conclusion.
See my review of the whole Transcend Duet in French on my blog: http://isalacroqueusedelivres.blog/2018/04/12/the-transcend-duet-de-jewel-e-ann/
I was new to Jewel E. Ann’s books, and after reading so many good things about her, I grabbed the opportunity with Transcend, and I’m completely addict now!
Reviewing this book was really challenging.
First, because it’s difficult to talk about this story without giving away too much of it.
And because I’m a complete mess. A mess of feelings. An amazing mess.
The one where you’re left wanting for more.
The blurb was really intriguing, and I wasn’t expecting this rollercoaster of emotions.
Every aspect of this story is amazing.
The writing, the consistency of each character, the way the author made me willingly give my hand the her, to guide me and step out of my comfort zone, and explore new possibilities.
I connected with every character.
And the feelings… There is passion, humor, tenderness, angst, sorrow, sadness, mourning, and love… Oh, there is so much love in this book…
I don’t know what else to say.
You should go with the flow and trust the author. Blindly.
I can’t wait to put my shaky hands on Epoch, and see where this is leading, I need to get to the end of this journey, and find the truth.
Give this book a chance, I never read something like this, but it’s worth the heartache, it’s addictive and utterly beautiful.
Without a doubt, one of my favorite reads this year, and a great surprise as a reader, because I have a new author to add to my Must Read List!

Jewel has really outdone herself with the Transcend Duet. It started as a little story she would include in her newsletter on the last Friday of every month, luring us in with 2-3 chapters at a time. But as we, her subscribers, became more and more invested in this story and it’s characters, Jewel took it and ran with it. She ended up with Transcend and the sequel to follow, Epoch. And I have to say – – – this is the most brilliant story of Jewel’s I have read to date.
I want to sit down with each of you who are thinking about reading this book and over a cup of coffee, tell you all about Swayze, Nate, and Griff. But I know I couldn’t do Jewel’s brilliance justice. So this is what I can do – I can recommend you snap up this book and when you’re done reading it, try to hold on until Epoch hits and we can finally, FINALLY, find out what happens to the characters we have come to love and cherish.
Well done, Jewel, well done!! I am in awe of your brilliance!
This book has been the ultimate slow burn as I have been fortunate enough to read along each month for over a year as she released it in her newsletter. Yes, an entire year and I am more crazy over this story than ever! If you enjoy humor, mystery, and suspense mixed in with the romance, longing, and scorching sex scenes then Jewel is your author and this duet is a great place to start! The characters in this story will pull you in and not let go. I live for a twist in a story and Jewel is a master at giving you exactly what you were not expecting! I am not going to get into the plot because I want to spoil nothing, but the mystery is so captivating that I have thought about it constantly for the last month or so! The follow-up, Epoch, will be released April 9th and I don’t think I have ever been more ready to dive into the conclusion of a story before!
I haven’t been this excited about a book and a duet in sooooo long. This story…I’m tangled in it, just enthralled. These characters…perfection, they’ve burrowed under my skin. I have no idea how it will end but the ride is one that I’m loving! I can’t recommend this one enough, you need to jump on this train!
Stunning, emotional and passionate read!!
Just when I thought Jewel couldn’t surprise me with another unique and refreshing story, she writes something that just left me speechless!!
Maybe because of my own beliefs, maybe because of where I am emotionally at the moment, this book touched me deeply and emotionally.
Flawless writing and fantastic characters. The writing was just a delight to read. This book took me on an intricate emotional journey that had me questioning love life and living!
Thought provoking and compassionate I cannot wait what direction this story is taking. All I know, I can’t wait to go for that ride!
