LaurenOne boxLives were lost and relationships destroyed because of that one box. I don’t care what the cost is, I won’t stop until I have answers. Even if it means declaring war on the detective who once had my heart.MikeEvery war has its casualtiesI was just naive enough to believe that it wouldn’t hit so close to home. There’s so much blood on my hands, that I’m guilty by association at this … home. There’s so much blood on my hands, that I’m guilty by association at this point. I don’t know how to keep Lauren safe without betraying the club, but I’m willing to die trying.
This book is NOT a standalone. It is the conclusion to Renegade.

This is the 2nd and concluding port of Mike and Lauren’s story. This is not a standalone, Renegade needs to be read first. This is a well written fast paced story which is an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end. This story is raw and gritty and filled with angst, drama, danger, suspense, and love. I was intrigued and hooked throughout and cannot wait to read more in this awesome series.
Must read Renegade first, a conclusion that will leave you speechless..
..full of action, grit, twists, love and betrayal (all types of crazy)
Hooking you, wrecking you, and wanting more..
…MC readers, it a must. This series keeps getting better, next book, please!~wtmo
The first chapter of this book had my heart in my throat. I was so mad at Mike, but I am glad he got his head out of his butt. This second book has a lot of twists and turns. It took me on some different theories on who the traitor was, but one of the theories did pant out. There wasn’t a straight way to the traitor and I appreciated the plotline. This book did leave you on a cliffhanger, so I can’t wait to see how this plays out.
Traitor by Shannon Myers a thrilling and compelling five-star read. This is the second book in the renegade series and it is a conclusion to Renegade so you do need to read that first. It took me a while to read this book, not because it was bad, the total opposite I usually read so quickly that I don’t always remember ever detail but I promise you that for some time to come I will be able to remember the tiniest detail of this book, I cannot wait for Grey’s story.
Lauren and Mike are like the tides colliding they come together and great waves happen, waves of love and sadness they both face choices in this story, choices of love, club and obligation. There is so much going on there is passion and drama and double crossing. This series has gone from strength to strength, it was also nice to see the cross over from the other series. Shannon Myers is one of those authors you really wish more people knew about. If you are looking for a read that will be funny and poetic and will take you on such an emotional rollercoaster you will need lots of wine or just snuggles under a blanket to get over it, then this series is one for you.
“Typical Mike Sullivan–once again thinking, that because you want something, it’s automatically yours for the taking. Well, flash your badge all you want, asshole. I’m not interested.” I stepped around him, but he latched onto my arm and pulled me into his warm body. It took everything in me not to throw my arms around him and hold on for dear life, but I managed. Just barely. “Lauren, I love you. Can’t that be enough?” His eyes pleaded for acceptance, as his hands shook against my back. I wasn’t going to do it. “No …”
I have NEVER wanted to CRACK two skulls together as much as I did with these two! AHHH! How could two people, clearly made for one another, be so insanely obtuse! I obviously can’t tell you everything I want to about the situation, but let me tell you I seriously wanted to KNOCK SOME SENSE INTO THESE TWO!
Okay, anyway … you must read Renegade before you read Traitor, and let me say you need to read them. *Warning* You are going to need a support group to sustain you after all that Shannon puts you through! I put off reading this book because I wasn’t sure I could come to terms with an ending to some of these events and issues. And, writing this review … near impossible.
Mike & Lauren have been battling several demons throughout their story — demons from their past, in their present, and those threatening to take away their future. Each of them has so much going on inside of them, and swirling around them, I thought they might self-destruct before they ever got anywhere. These were two of the most broken characters I’ve read in a long time. I can’t begin to tell you how much they broke me every time that something else caused them to stumble back down their dark paths. Even with the darkness inside each of them, when they were together … my heart practically sang.
*Side note* There are SO MANY amazing characters throughout this story. This review focuses a lot on Mike & Lauren (duh, it’s their story), but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention some of the other amazing characters I’m falling in love with.
Jimmy: *cue swoon*
I freaking loved Jimmy! You’ll meet him at the gym, and he is seriously one of the best men. You don’t get too much on him, but enough to know there is some mystery and he has the potential to be an amazing man for … someone (That someone is ME! I call dibs!) He needs someone to soothe his heart, and I can totally do that for him
Little Ricky
We met him in previous Shannon works (Operation Fit-ish, Operation Annulment). There’s just something about this guy … He is always around, always hilarious, and always someone you want to see. I can’t quite explain precisely what it is, but I definitely want to be friends with him.
Abuelita
This woman is everything a Grandma should be! She always has something to say and seems to be able to fix EVERYTHING.
There’s something about this story that just called to me. It wasn’t perfect. In fact, I’d venture to say that this was one of the messiest romances I’ve read in quite some time. Not one thing about their love was perfect, except the fact that they were perfect for each other, and honestly Shannon had me doubting that for a while. At one point, I was just rooting for them to go their separate ways so I wouldn’t be so frustrated with them. But then … “He kept repeating the words until something inside me broke. The armor surrounding my heart gave way, leaving me exposed. Raw. Two broken souls–who’d had their childhood stolen from them and been forced to resort to other means to survive. Were we really all that different?”
I. Was. Done.
That was it for me. It was that moment I lost my shit, and bawled my eyes out on my living room couch. Okay, fine, this wasn’t the first time I was bawling on the couch, but this was a serious moment for me!
These two had been through so much, and even in their darkest & most unforgiving moments their hearts NEVER WAVERED? How many people can say that they’ve been so connected to someone, had this someone so deeply rooted in their heart, that NOTHING could dig them out? Not many, I’d wager. This wasn’t to say their road was easy — their path to one another was pretty much hell. “A man protects his home. Well, Darlin’, you’ve always been mine. Twenty years from now, I’ll still want only you. So, if you wake up one morning and find that you’ve changed your mind, come find me. I’ll still be waiting. I know there’s still a lot of shit that needs to be said, and you can be damn sure I’m gonna clear my name. But right now, I just want to hold you in my arms and pretend that we’re Jack and Charlotte — the two least screwed up people I know.”
I can’t even imagine the strength these two had to muster. Once they found it, though, gah! I’ve never been so jealous of a love. “You’re my person, Mike. My best friend.”
I can’t even with this story. The future looks a little hazy for the characters in this world, but I have to say that I will forever be loyal to these stories. Even though Mike is a little closer to villain, he is a man that I truly ended up rooting for.
