Erika Devore is known for getting the stories nobody else can, but when she ends up on the wrong side of a mob boss she suddenly finds herself in the custody of a former soldier turned security contractor who has made it his business to keep her safe whether she likes it or not. Dax Adams is determined to protect Erika, even if that means spanking her until she is sobbing every time her reckless … until she is sobbing every time her reckless defiance puts her in danger. But when she discovers that the cabin he has chosen as their hideout is part of a BDSM resort, Erika’s intrigue and arousal are both obvious, and Dax decides that the best way to keep her occupied and obedient is to train her as his pet.
Though Dax gives Erika no choice in the matter, her body’s response to his bold dominance is undeniable, and soon she is kneeling naked at his feet, blushing as she is fitted with a tail for the first time, and screaming in helpless pleasure as she is brought to one desperately intense climax after another. But when it is safe for her to return home, will that bring an end to her training?
Publisher’s Note: Training His Petis a stand-alone novel which is the sixth entry in the Owned and Protected series. It includes spankings, sexual scenes, intense and humiliating punishments, and strong D/s and pet play themes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

First of all, let me say, I just love the “Owned and Protected” series so you know I was really thrilled when this one became available to me. Erika is a journalist who is always chasing the next big story. She’s tired of covering the society fluff pieces and wants her own bi-line in the paper. The story she’s trying to break into concerns the mob and takes her to an exclusive club that is nearly impossible to get into without being on the list. She just needs to find a way to get her name added. Dax and his brother Corbin own a night club and have made it exclusive. Corbin, the younger brother, handles all the business end while his brother Dax, the oldest and retired from the military, handles all the security. When Dax and Erika meet it starts them on a journey that takes them to a hidden BDSM camp. This was a thrilling, exciting story with all the emotions, feels, underlying mystery, and kink I’ve come to expect from Measha Stone. Another great addition to the series.
Always after the story
This author just has a knack for putting her characters into situations where they make the deepest connections and then one, or both, makes a decision that causes them to lose it all. This book was so good and then one, seemingly little, action causes the destruction of everything they had built. I was in mourning because I really thought there was no hope for the HEA, but I should have had more faith in the author. Somehow, she managed to pull a HEA out of total destruction. I was never so happy to reach the HEA. I hope this is not the last book we see in this series.
Part of the Owned & Protected series, this interconnected standalone story is about Erika, a journalist who is trying to be seen as a serious journalist, and Dax, who tries to protect her from herself. Really, Dax works hard to protect his own heart. I loved this BDSM story about two people, who seem so right for each other, have to learn to trust & communicate with each other. I loved how in tune Erika & Dax were, how he had an understanding of how she might be feeling as she accepted her desires. I loved how she tested him at every turn & he remained consistent. The main storyline is about Dax’s brother Corbin, and his new connections to the Mafia. I hope we are going to see more about Corbin.
I received a copy of this book. My honest review is voluntarily provided.
I enjoyed this book as well as the rest in the series. The first time I came across pet play was in a BDSM book. I was intrigued not hooked or even sure I would enjoy it but I did. It is hot, sexy and intriguing. The romance that unfolds when people explore who they are and their desire’s is steamy on it’s own but when the leading man supports the goals and dreams of his partner it adds to the sexy factor 10 fold. Can’t wait for the next book. Truly enjoyed it. Thanks for the escape.
This is another great sexy pet play book in the owned and protected series! One tenacious reporter explores her kinky side with a wonderful but strict Dom who always takes good care of his pet!
Loved it!
Out of the books in this series, this is my favorite one so far. Dax has to protect Erika when she stumbles onto a mob related crime. She is a strong, independent and feisty woman who is too stubborn for her own good at times. And even though she struggles to submit to Dax, I loved his patience with her while she was learning. Pet play isn’t my thing in real life but I love reading it and Ms. Stone did a very good job with it. The connection between Dax and Erika is off the charts and I was totally sucked into the story! I would highly recommend this book to all my friends!!
Loved, loved, loved this story! Dax and Erika are the main characters and both are very strong minded individuals so one would think they wouldn’t mesh very well, but they most definitely do. Dax runs a nightclub with his brother but knows there must be more to life, but because of his loyalty, he feels he needs to stay. Then one night something happens and he meets Erika. She is a very inquisitive woman and he knows he needs to take her in hand. But will she go willingly? Can she see her true self that he tries to show her? These two have incredible chemistry and I loved their interactions. I love this entire series and really enjoyed this latest book in the series. I highly recommend this book!
Book 6 in The Owned and Protected series, but it can be read as a stand alone. Some characters from the previous books pop up, but you will be fine if you haven’t read the other books.
This is the story of Erika and Dax. Both of them carry around scars from the past, they may be not visible but they determine their action nevertheless.
This books also has some great pet play scenes which I am a fan off and I enjoyed reading about Erika’s journey into submission.
I do have to admit that I found Erika a bit a annoying at times. She didn’t have a sensibel bone in her body.
I Loved this story its so full of emotions with so much feeling and it goes deep, Dax is about to show the troublesome stubborn Erika who never backs down his world and what it involves and she really takes a look at herself both being so strong willed you never know what shes going to do next. I love the pet play its fascinating and so loving. These characters are intense at times but loving all at the same time and so wonderfully written it sucks you in and I really enjoyed it.
Willing obedience sizzles. With every Owned and Protected release, I fall more in love with the characters and the storyline. Dax and Erika are a wonderful addition, and you are guaranteed to need a cold shower or maybe even several. This one tugged at and melted my heart – it is full of romance, intrigue and miscues that threaten to derail the relationship, and enough chemistry to set your Kindle on fire. This author brings me to my knees with her writing, and I’ll willingly stay there for another taste. I’ll never get enough and would give more stars if I could.
4.5 stars for this red hot, pet-play book
Measha Stone sure does know how to write a hot and steamy pet-play book. If you’ve read any others in the series you will know what to expect, and this is another great addition to the series. Whilst some aspects are similar to the rest of the series because – duh! – pet play, each book has it’s own romantic suspense elements, the characters have their own back stories and the issues the couples face make each book very different.
I loved how Erika struggled both with her submission AND with how her submission made her feel. The battle of the ‘independent career’ woman with the ‘getting off on kneeling at his feet’ pet. Most of the time Dax appreciated this conflict, and the times he didn’t were necessary to the plot. It was also good to see a dominant hero who wasn’t perfect or had it all together. Whilst the reason they had a blow up was a little cliched, Erika’s reasoning (or lack of) was nicely different from the norm.
The ending of the book was pretty perfect for me and then we had the epilogue, which was the cherry on top of the icing! I loved that epilogue and all that it implied, the support, the respect and most of all the love. Honestly it was just totally a *swoon* moment.
If you HAVEN’T read any books in this series there are two things to know. The first is that each one is a stand alone, whilst there are certain characters who appear in more than one book no ‘prior knowledge’ is required in order to enjoy this story. The second and probably most important thing is that pet play involves a certain amount of humiliation and, whilst all activities are consensual, it may push your boundaries. I find it helps to remember that (a) both individuals are ultimately willing participants, agreeing to the activities and (b) it’s a book not a BDSM training manual, so some aspects won’t always reflect real life. There is also a (c) which is that whilst I would be saying “Hell no!” to some things Dax insists on I’m not Erika, plus it would be a pretty boring book if she refused to submit to his dominance!
So whilst Dax insisted on verbally having Erika’s agreement, there was no chat about a ‘safe word’ and only one mention of ‘hard limits’. That said, I always felt that if Erika had stood up and said ‘actually there is NO WAY I’m going to do that because….’ then Dax would have listened to her and allowed a discussion on the matter. Punishments are a separate issue, safe words are more for if one feels unsafe or at risk and not for getting out of trouble. These aspects need bearing in mind before buying this book. Otherwise go for it – it’s a great read.
I loved this dark, super yummy read. Dax saves Erika only to bring her into his world. Can Erika handle what Dax, has in store for her? The Queen of dark and delicious is at it again with another amazing read.
Oh Ms Measha!
You know how to push all the right buttons to make one squirm in her/his reading chair!
With the usual slow-burn beginning this latest tale of pet training takes us on a progression of scenes that sizzle, burn, and explode off the pages!
Thank you for another foray into a kinky wonderland!
I really like Measha Stone books. Always guaranteed to be a fun read, and she again delivers in Training His Pet. This is the story of Erika, a nosy and somewhat stubborn reporter, and Dax, a dominating, stern ex-military type, who works in security. Needless to say they clash and it’s just so delicious to watch the events unfold.
I’ve always enjoyed a quiet Saturday to myself, to slip away and go into a world created by one of my favorite authors, and Ms. Stone is definitely one of my favs. It’s so nice to go into a book and when you pop up out of it, realize that hours have gone by. The story is that engaging. This is another good one by Measha; highly recommended.
Dax was cynical and dour but when he saved Erika from the mob he was gentle and caring. He recognized her submissiveness and guided her into being the perfect pet. There were a couple of punishments that made me cringe and wonder why Erika would allow him to do that, but he understood her so well he knew the effect it would have. Catching up with Devin and Addison and Trevor and Kara was good too.
I love this Owned and Protected series, each story brings together these couples who have struggles and together they can face them. erika is a reporter looking for her next big break and having her name on the headlines, when she witnesses something in an alley. Dax, the security manager and co-owner at Club Velvet needs to take her away for her own safety. He takes her to a BDSM resort and her inquisitive mind is at it again, until he decides to train her. Drama, suspense are there to make you enjoy this great story.
Erika’s introduction into the the world of BDSM!
by sewsummore
Erika was reporter, determined to write a story that would put her by-line on the front page of her newspaper instead of in the society pages. After several aborted attempts to get close to the Persuccio Crime family, she witnessed a man beaten by one of the brothers at the back of the Velvet Club. Unfortunately she was seen and it was only thanks to Dax, one of the club’s owners, that she was able to escape. Jax had warned Erika ofthe risks she was taking just to get a story and when the beaten man later died, he decided to get her out of the city until the hunt for her died down. The last place Erika expected Dax to take her was a BDSM Resort. Dax had his hands full keeping Erika occupied and away from the guests. It did not take long for the Dom Dax to take charge and soundly spank Erika for her refusal to follow his orders. I found this book an entertaining read which detailed Erika’s introduction into the the world of BDSM. It was an eye-opener for Erika as well as a return to the lifestyle for Dax. When Dax’s marriage ended five years ago, Dax also lost his submissive. Her betrayal had hurt him deeply and until meeting Erika he had never allowed himself to be close to any woman. Some of the scenes in this book include pet play, spanking and humiliation, if this offends you, choose another book to read.

Erika, a journalist, is on the run with Dax a former military turned private security contractor when she witnesses a mob crime. Dax is determined to protect her and she’s determined to fight him. While on the run Erika and Dax end up at a hidden BDSM camp where things take some steamy twists and turns. Although the storyline is a bit over the top it is good and filled with danger, mystery, action, steam and some intense pet play.
Our heroine is a reporter, which means probing where people don’t want you to look. So when she gets the dirt of a mob boss, suddenly she has a big target on her back.
This is book six of the series, but it is written as a standalone. No prior reading is required.
The story is well written, easy to read and highly addictive. I love this series. Just like with the previous books, the story pulled me in from the start and never let go. The scenes and characters are well developed and the plot provides a bit of intrigue with plenty of steamy material and a bit of romance. The result is rather intense, with punishments, D/S, BDSM and a bit of pet play. Overall, a wonderful story and I always look forward to more from this author.
Highly recommended
