If you’ve not read Merry Farmer yet, you MUST. I read Trail of Hope in one day. I just kept swiping the pages. I had to ask Merry the other day what the title was, as I’ve a mind like a sieve. But I remembered several scenes in detail that allowed her to tell me the title. I might forget book titles, but you know I think it’s a great read if I can rattle off specific scenes that I loved.
This book has great characters and their both dealing with the recent death of loved ones, which was handled with empathy and gentleness. I identified with them. So if you’re in the mood for a great read. I think this is one you should definitely pick up.
Cute but dumb. The hints and bumbling of the villains were laughable. The main characters were nice. I liked that he was a glasses wearing merchant. There were some genuine moments of realism, but they were quickly overshadowed by the dumb. Any trail boss worth his salt would have kicked the trouble makers out.
This has a good storyline even if a bit unbelieving in some of the events. It captures your heart with the tragic stories of the 2 main characters and how they come to be together, and is worth the read.
The characters were real.
I did not finish this book it was too steamy for me. I have found this to be true of novels by Merry Farmer so won’t be reading more of hers.
Interesting story line and and easy read. Good to the very end!
Great book of the travels and hardships of the Oregon Trail. Love the details of life on the trail and the diversity of the characters
I like the books Merry Farmer writes. She researches her subjects and writes an entertaining book.
I thought it was interesting and different highlighting the difficulties faced by a woman alone on a wagon train.
Quite Different!
I just loved the way John suddenly ‘wakes up’ to realise that there is in fact life after death (the death of his beloved wife whose memories seem to haunt him).
Callie also faces family death yet she is stronger and deals with it far better than John does, but she needs a husband’s protection and so they marry.
This is a beautiful love story with some interesting supporting characters thrown in for good measure and it was a pleasure to read how Callie and John managed to cope with their new lives and how they learned to like and trust and later love each other.
The story is worth reading and I can happily recommend it.
A very sweet fun story. I didn’t think I’d like him when we first met him. But his character developed to a very sweet, loving, fun character. It was a little disappointing how long it took for them to come to the conclusion of what was going on. But they got their happy ever after and that makes me happy.
Great story that will take you along on life in a wagon train. I loved the characters!
