From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, neighbors-to-lovers romance.Kaine Reynolds wants nothing more than solitude. Another great book from the Lark Cove series. Two lost souls running away from their past end up as neighbors. Piper and Kaine could not be more perfect for each other but they are both afraid to take a chance at love and a future again. With some many problems thrown their way, they know they can get through it all if they just had each other. But can they put their pasts where it belongs, in the past, or will they let it all ruin their possible future? Great read and really puts you in each moment with the characters, rooting for them to make it out on top!
This beautiful heartbreaking tale of Kaine and Piper is by far my new favorite Devney Perry novel. It takes us on Kaines journey from utter devastastation and endless days of loneliness spent just trying to make something beautiful without giving into the soul deep pain that just won’t fade, to that day the healing begins. A sexy, opinionated little fire cracker moves onto his mountain and sees it all. Her laughter and energetic spirit life him out of his deep sleep of pain and into a new world he desperately tries to fend off. Piper spotted the epitome of pain manifested in the flesh the day she found her forever home on a beautiful mountain with the most breathtaking views. And yes the man was one of them. This stubborn, gruff man who brought out in her feelings even her ex husband never made her feel. The passion is out of this world, combustible and impossible to ignore. To their mutual chagrin. The only option is to agree to keep it casual. Hmm. Where have we ever heard that before, and how on earth could passion like Piper and Kaine share ever just be casual?!
Well, if you want to learn about the past Kaine hides with a wall of back the f..k off and how Piper is going to help him, her, them all heal, you most definitely do not want to miss one of my favorite reads of this year.
It was beautiful and intense and I cannot wait to read what Devney has in store for Sofia and Dakota!
I am such a fan of Devney Perry’s stories! Each one is always so unique, amazing and full of heart! Tragic will wreck you right from the start but the love you will witness and the journey that you go on with Kaine and Piper will leave your heart so full! My favorite couple yet! I just couldn’t get enough of these two and I hated for the story to end! A must read!!!
Devney Perry did it again! Her books only get better and better.
Kaine is now my favorite character by her. He is the definition of alpha hero and his pain was so deep, so real.
I loved every single line of this book. I wish it had a couple more hundred pages so I could have more of Kaine and Piper.
This book broke me and put me back together. And more importantly, it surprised me over and over again. Whenever I thought something expected/cliché was going to happen, Perry did a 180 and gave me something amazing.
This book is pure MAGIC.
I have to say that I have become obsessed with anything Devney Perry! Devney has an amazing talent for really taking you on an epic journey in each of her books. Tragic is absolutely no different. It took me in right from the beginning and kept hold of me until the very end.
While we continue to learn the details throughout the book, we start off by learning the fact that our hero, Kane, has experienced unbearable lose. He has run away from his past because it’s understandably too hard for him to deal with that kind of pain and grief.
Our heroine, Piper, on the other hand is battling with finding her self-worth after her divorce. She is also running away but it’s more to find peace that she may not be able to have the life she always wanted and dreamed of.
What I love most about this story is that it’s not about one person saving the other, but it’s more of the fact that the love that grows between the two of them helps them save themselves.
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with picking up a Devney Perry book to get lost in.
Tragic is the third book in the Lark Cove series. Normally I highly recommend you start reading at the beginning of a series, but I am actually pretty comfortable saying that you can read this without having read the previous books in the series. It can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. Now that doesn’t mean I don’t recommend reading the previous books in the series, BECAUSE I DO! They’re amazing as well!
Such a emotional read with everything you want in a book!
Beautiful, emotional, heartbreaking, sad, funny – this book has it all. It was amazing from first to last page!
Everything by this author is wonderful. Love her plots, settings, and characters, and the writing and editing are always excellent. I hate grammar errors!
Wow!!! What an emotional story this was. An amazing 5 star masterpiece that made me feel so much.
Piper starts over in a new town. She left being a life that only brought her heartache. She finds herself attracted to her broody neighbor, Kaine. They can’t keep their hands to themselves. Things are about to get interesting.
I enjoyed this captivating story that was hard to put down for very long. It was highly addictive. It was heartbreaking at times but heartwarming also. Bottomline this is a must read.
Story told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this entertaining story. This is the third book in the Lark Cove. They can all be read as standalones. But for better enjoyment start at the beginning.
I’ve been a solid Devney Perry fan since I read her debut book The Coppersmith Farmhouse just a few days after it released. Tragic is her 9th book released since March 2017 and I don’t know how she does it, but each book has been better than the one before. Tragic is her third stand alone book in the Lark Cove series. Within the first few paragraphs I was hooked as we learned exactly what happened to “break” our hero. Devney doesn’t shy away from grabbing your heart and ripping it out of your chest before we even read the words “Chapter One”. Needless to say, she spends the rest to her sweet time taking you through the twists and turns of proving, one again, that love really does heal wounds. In under two years, Ms. Perry has proven that she can hold her own in the big world of romance novelists abd I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us all in the years tocome.
Perry has fast become one of my fave contemporary romance authors. Even though many of us readers haven’t got time to read all that we’d like to, the Lark Cove series is one that can’t be missed or at the very least, do add it to your to-be-read list. There’s no amorous clichés, each stand-alone novel having its own uniqueness. If there was one detail I was able to differentiate between the previous two books and Tragic is the brewing steaminess and angst. Don’t get me wrong, I love slow burn love stories, and the romantic uncertainty woven into this must-read was beautifully written.
I’d had the pleasure of meeting Piper in Tattered, Logan and Thea’s story and couldn’t have been more delighted to see that it was her turn. Metaphorically speaking, of course, the breathtaking setting seemed to come alive before my very eyes. Piper and her neighbour have their mountain boundaries which couldn’t have been better described. Whether they would cross them is for you to find out. And for just one minute, take a look at the stunning cover! It is Kaine to a tee and has an interesting anecdote behind it.
Unspeakably broken after a tragedy, Kaine chose to live a life of solitude. His thoughts of hopelessness and despair consume his very being and to be quite honest, I found his gruff exterior a tad unappealing until subtle changes in his character showed me otherwise. But Piper has a curious soul. Treading with as much care as she possibly can, does she even want to try breaking through his walls when she’s not been made welcome? Her past experience is distressing, but nothing in comparison to the hardship Kaine had to endure. Ah, wait and see because neither Piper or myself were expecting a hidden truth to come out, knocking us both for six. And the same goes for Kaine, so get ready to pull out all the tissues of a man-sized box; you’re going to need them!
Under that thick beard and scruffy dress of his, Kaine is a strapping hunk. His love for carving wood and him creating beauty gave his character a sensitive quality and didn’t just bring out the best in him, it was also a joy to read about how he saw the end product. Piper’s appreciation of his talent made me wonder if she’d to get through to him via his art. That being said, she isn’t exactly forthcoming with her feelings, either. There’s no doubt they’re attracted to each other and together, sparks fly!
Can they bury their pasts, heal open wounds and forgive those who have hurt them? They certainly deserve a happy ending. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the author giving her readers fairly mature protagonists as it’s much easier for me to relate to the age group used. The secondary character development is fabulous. The author made me want to strangle one of them and give another a hug. All in all, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this emotional story to my book buddies. Bravo Perry!
This series just keeps getting better for me. I really enjoyed this book. Kaine and Piper are both interesting and I think they make a great match. This book has some steamy scenes right away, which is a bit of a departure from the other Devney perry nooks I’ve read, which were all slow burn. And while I quite enjoyed those, I always like it when an author doesn’t use the same “formula” for every book. I can’t wait for the next one!
Kaine Reynolds and Piper Campbell- what a story.
He has barely survived a terrible tragic accident, Piper has struggled with her life but has determined to start a new life in Montana. I love that we get all the other Lark Cove family in this book.
It is an amazing story facing their pasts and fighting to move forward. Every new book from Devney makes me a believer in her true gift for telling story. LOVE LOVE LOVE
What a beautiful story of two broken hearts. With all their flaws they are able mend each other’s broken hearts. I love the journey of this book. It takes you to the hurt and pain of each circumstance and the mending process. I love this series each story shows us love’s power and strength.
As always, Devney Perry has delivered a great story, amazing characters and a happy ending.
Tragic was, indeed, magic. Kaine and Piper are a fantastic couple and their love is unique.
Since book one I have loved every single story Devney’s written and I can’t wait to read the next.
The magic is us.
Gaws this book! How can a story is full of magic? Full of Hope and Love? I love this book. One of my top best read this year! I’m happy they found each other in the right time of their life when they do need each other most. Kaine conquered all his fears for Piper and be good a father again for their twins. Piper helps Kaine a lot to move forward for their future as one. This is book has so much emotional feels that you feel through your bones and makes you believe that even in a traumatizing event, you’ll find your magic someday and be back to yourself and live to the fullest and forgiveness is the key to fullfill your happy future with your love ones.
4 1/2 stars. Lark Cove just keeps getting better and better. Kaine’s past just ripped my heart out. Piper was so amazingly patient with him. But so NOT a doormat. Their relationship was full of starts and stops, but really worth it. I was a bit bothered by their initial interaction. They didn’t even know each other and had unprotected sex. I think it was supposed to demonstrate how in lust they were, but I was put off as I was reading it. Stay with it though…..it’s Perry’s best yet.
I fell in love with the town of Lark Cove and its citizens in Devney Perry’s Tattered.
Piper, Logan’s assistant, moved to Lark Cove after her divorce was finalized. Kaine moved a few years earlier after a tragedy struck him. They ended up becoming neighbors and friends, although they both wanted more. They help each other work through their problems, and this allows them to grow closer.
Devney Perry does an excellent job of developing her characters and plots. Tragic is one of my favorites!
Well the day has come, one of Devney’s other books has moved into my favorite top spot! Which makes me feel like I’m cheating on Jess and Gigi! That being said….you guys Devney has simply blown me away once again with her AMAZING writing! This was one book that took me on a very emotional roller coaster ride. It was so very well written that it kept me glued to the pages from the very beginning. I loved the dynamic between Kaine and Piper, their chemistry is off the charts HOT!! I can’t and won’t give anything away so I highly recommend this story to anyone and everyone, and just know that you will NOT be disappointed if you choose to read this book!
Tragic by Devney Perry is the third book in the Lark Cove series. And boy does this one pack a hell of a punch. I couldn’t put this book down. I have loved every book in this series. After finishing each book I think – How can they get any better? Well the do because Devney Perry’s writing is magic. She just knows how to put a plot together and make it spectacular!
Now there has been emotion, a lot of emotion, in each book so far but Tragic is topping the others ten fold. The feels in Tragic are what add to its magic. Just believe me, you will see what I mean in a very short time.
Kaine Reynolds has had his heart ripped out of him. He no longer can feel anything but grief and anger and it has made him into a shell of a man. He no longer can deal with the world and has decided to seclude himself from his past in Lark Cove Montana. It’s just him and his grief on a mountain side. He works to forget. He may drink to much sometimes to forget. But sometimes the past has a way of bringing him to his knees….often.
Piper Campbell has recently divorced her Broadway actor husband and unfortunately he doesn’t want to accept that this has actually happened. She desperately needs to get out of the Big Apple. So she takes her bruised heart and heads to Lark Cove Montanan for a change of scenery, her boss has found happiness there so maybe she can to. She finds a house on a mountain and starts renovations. She also finds Kaine Reynolds on that mountain. Aaaand Kaine is not to happy to have his misery interrupted by the new neighbor next door and the noisy renovations. But they both can’t deny the instant chemistry they have at first sight. They both know they are too damaged to be anything more than neighbors with benefits. They come to an agreement, encounter a bear and have magic cake. Then fate takes a look at them and laughs loudly in their faces. Old wounds will be opened, and emotions will most certainly run high. But somewhere in the midst of worlds crashing down, love is found. Forgiveness is the answer. And two people turn tragedy into a lifetime of something neither one of them thought they could ever have again…contentment and happiness.
Tattered and Timid are books one and two in the Lark Cove series. All books in this series can be read as a standalone.
