From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, neighbors-to-lovers romance.Kaine Reynolds wants nothing more than solitude. After an unthinkable tragedy destroys his family, he’s cut off all ties to his former life so he can battle his grief the only way he knows how.Alone. So when Piper Campbell knocks on his door, rambling on about being his new neighbor, he slams the door … being his new neighbor, he slams the door in her face.
But Kaine’s gruff demeanor doesn’t scare her. She’s set on living in Montana and starting over after a terrible divorce. And she wouldn’t mind having a fling to chase away the pain of her husband’s betrayal. Her handsome, albeit rude, neighbor is the perfect candidate.
Yet what neither of them suspect is that their no-strings affair will result in the surprise of Piper’s lifetime—and Kaine’s worst fear.

Tragic is the third installation of the Lark Cove series, an amazing book that will make you swoon and leave you wanting more of Piper and Kaine! It has dual point of view, allowing us to explore both Kayne’s and Piper’s thoughts. It also adds to the mystery (surprisingly) because even though we know from the prologue that something sordid happened to Kayne’s life, he just won’t let any of it slip away until waay later on.
I absolutely adored this couple; their dynamic, their chemistry, how they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Everything about them screamed perfection in my eyes.
I just love it when one of the heroes has a troubled past, and Kaine fits the bill quite well. After tragedy knocks on his door, Kaine’s life is completely ruined. He’s just the shell of the man he once was, and there’s no indication that he’s willing to change his life for the better and actually think of the future feeling hopeful.
That’s until his new neighbor Piper shows up on his door. Piper is everything he is not; positive and hopeful, determined and strong-willed. She’s been through some hardships as well, but she doesn’t know pain like Kaine does.
Having recently gotten divorced from her husband Adam, all Piper wants is to get as far away from him and New York as possible. That’s why she decides to try her luck in Lark Cove where her boss and dear friend Logan Kendrick (from Tattered) happily lives with his wife and children. Getting involved with a man was the last thing on Piper’s mind, but her sexy and closed off new neighbor is about to change her plans.
He’s rude, seemingly uninterested in her, and in desperate need to be left alone yet again. Things escalate quite quickly right then and instead of leaving him alone, Piper ends up having one of the hottest nights of her life, while being a tangled mess with him.
Once these two get a taste of one another, they just can’t stay away. Both have their own demons to fight, but being together seems to make their lives just a bit more tolerable than being apart.

“My God, he did it for me.
Head to toe, Kaine Reynolds was magic.”

When unexpected news hit, Piper can’t believe in her luck. Her life is about to completely change, and she couldn’t be happier with the shocking -but totally welcomed- news, especially since she’d been led to believe that she would never become a mother. But Kaine… he doesn’t share the same excitement as her. Old wounds are opened, and once again Kaine feels overwhelmed with a particular emotion —fear. What happened to him in the past to make him the man he is today? Is he willing to let go of his fears, admit his feelings to Piper and build a future with her?

This book is emotional, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
Kaine is content with the way his life is right now. He doesn’t have anyone to answer to and no one bothers him. Just like he wants it. Then there’s Piper his new next door neighbor. She’s pretty, funny, sassy and doesn’t let his attitude sway her.
Loved these two!! Broke my heart in my places, made me smile, giggle, tear up, everything!!! Loved the small town feel too!
Holy hello! At first I was really confused about who Piper is. Logan’s assistant from New York, of course! I loved her in book 1 and got so excited to see her again. Kaine, holy moly the hell he has been living in makes you want to cry. My heart broke for him so many times, I spent the last so many chapters in tears. You will see why if you chose to read this, which I highly recommend you do!
5 Magic Stars. My absolute favorite of this series and my new favorite of all Devney Perry books. Kaine and Piper’s stories are tragically heartbreaking. A poignant story about finding comfort and peace in times of despair. I highly recommend this book. A must read in this series. The audiobook is also FANTASTIC!
The book is filled with intensity in all colors and flavors! There are blues for tears, yellow for smiles and red for laughter. Add in some heartache and you have this book. Kaine was a man fighting grief, disappointment and life of remorse; Piper was his new neighbor and she cried, dreamed and baked. Both lives had found betrayal and loss so deep they only found darkness. By midway through this book, I was smiling again; feeling hopeful; finding joy; and, seeing the light come into new lives. I cried, I smiled and I loved this book. There is so much true life happening in the story-line that I couldn’t stop reading. Thanks for a great read.
This book was everything….. Can I have 100 star rating, unbelievable story….
Tragic was absolute perfection! Devney has delivered once more a flawless story of loss, grief, healing and love. Kaine was the silent alpha hero and Piper was the upbeat lovable heroine who we met in Tattered. I loved everything about this book especially the sexy scene at end.
All I can say is that I thought Tragic was utterly boring. I never got into this book and cared not for either of the characters. The story never really grabbed my interest and I didn’t care all that much for Piper’s failed marriage to a Grade A jerk or Kaine with his tortured soul. Also, he has a shitty mother and an even shittier brother who he should disowned for life. I did like seeing some of Thea, Logan, and their kids. But that’s about all. This one didn’t do it for me.
Piper Campbell works with Logan and used to live in New York. After her very recent divorce though has decided she needs a change and decides to move from NYC to Montana for a fresh start. She loves her job, finds the perfect place in Montana and starts construction on her perfect home!
Kaine’s story is truly heartbreaking, he went through something no one should ever have to go through and you continue throughout the story to watch this all unfold. Kaine is Pipers only real neighbor, and while he has enjoyed being all alone for awhile he also enjoys looking at Piper while also being upfront on the fact that nothing can happen between them.
Piper was so sweet, she was understanding, compassionate and so strong! She has most definitely had her own struggles in life, but she’s determined not to let it get her down. Piper wants to not only heal herself but she’s determined to try to help heal Kaine.
Kaine and Piper’s story is full of many ups and downs, a few completely unexpected surprises, steamy moments, and even a few that will have you reaching for your tissues. Devney Perry has this ability to really make you connect with your characters that very few authors I feel like posses. This is an amazing series and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

It’s not easy to forgive and harder to forget. Kaine and Piper both have a tragic past, but their combustable chemistry doesn’t help to solve problems. (Phew! Hot!) It actually creates new ones. Perseverance and patience pay off in the end because? Piper and Kaine are meant to be!! A totally unexpected story that kept me riveted from beginning to end.
This is my favorite book in Lark Cove series so far!
Kaine Reynolds is a shattered man who’s learned to live in selfimposed insolation, until he meets his new neighbor, Piper.
Piper Campbell is a strong, sexy woman who is determined to start a new life after a long divorce. She’s moving to Lark Cove and on the first day, she meets Kaine with who she felt a strong attraction, which none of them could ignore for a long time. They started no-strings-attached sexual relationship which resulted in unbelieve surprise for them both.
I love a story about people who have been broken somehow, usually by a heartbreaking tragedy, and it’s the love of that one special person that breathes life back into them. The unconditional love that heal the pain of the past. This is that story of love that completely touched my heart.
Devney does it again! I love the Lark Cove book and I think each book gets better! This book gives you all the feels. I did not want to put the book down!
Piper we know from previous books. She moves to town after a some what of a messy divorce. She is looking for a change of pace and a new setting. She finds the perfect house that needs alot of work and comes with a handsome grumpy broken neighbor. Kaine has had a lot of hurt that has happened in his life.
The plot to this book was fantastic! It was slightly different but oh so good! The book made you feel it but it was not over the top emotional. Devney has a very unique writing that just draws you in and keeps your attention. I love how Kaine and Piper’s story unfolded, they were perfect together and helping each other getting through their struggles. This is a must read series! Excited for the next book.
To say this main couple had uncontrollable, scorching hot chemistry would be putting it mildly, my fellow romance book loving friends. They also had in common a desperate need to heal their wounded hearts. Well, for Kaine, the hero, make that a completely obliterated one. Their impulsive, smexy encounters soon morphed into a genuine, emotional connection and affection resulting in a lasting, special kind of friendship that soothed both their souls.
Piper, the heroine, pepped things up with her funny, upbeat, off the cuff comebacks, wit, and charm. There pretty much wasn’t anything I didn’t love about this spunky, good natured gal. Her recent, overly drawn out divorce has her love shy and foolishly thinking a meaningless, mutually agreed upon casual fling is just what she needs to get her head back on straight. Of course, things take an unexpected, but sweeter and better romantic turn in the long run than Piper’s original, misplaced, knuckleheaded thinking.
Kaine was a man you couldn’t help but feel his pain and want him to find not just love but peace, as well. My only complaint is I wish he had reigned in his response to what unfolded near the end. I would have preferred to have seen him “almost” do what he did. Holding back at the very last second would have been more profound and shown him clearly to be the better, not just bigger man. Piper at that point had filled and healed such an important emotional part of his heart she was with him even when she wasn’t. So as not to give away any spoilers, I’ll just leave that at that, folks.
This book was definitely a wonderful addition to this great series. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us in the next sequel, Tinsel.
Title: Tragic, Series: Lark Cove (Book 3), Author: Devney Perry, Pages: 360, stand-alone but part of a series, sad past hero, sassy/funny divorced heroine, instant attraction, very steamy scenes, romance safe, no love triangles, no cheating, no OW/OM drama, series I’m really enjoying.
Book 1 – Tattered (Thea & Logan)
Book 2 – Timid (Willa & Jackson)
Book 3 – Tragic (Piper & Kaine)
Book 3.5 – Tinsel (Sofia & Dakota)

She may be one of my new favorite authors. There are four books in The Lark Cove Series. Try to read them in order. Outstanding! Much better than cleaning my desk!! A joy to read!
Piper has moved to Montana to help her boss Logan. This is her chance to get away from her cheating ex husband. After they found out that she couldn’t get pregnant he cheated on her. Her broken heart needed a fresh start. She thinks maybe a fling with her grumpy new neighbor might be just what she needs. Kaine has been hiding out in his mountain cabin for the last few years. After tragedy tore his world apart he needed space to deal with his anger.
I LOVED Tragic. This book had so much heart and soul. I fell absolutely in love with Piper and Kaine. This book takes your emotions all over the place from laughter to tears. This is the first series I have read by Devney Perry but I have loved every page. Looking forward to Tinsel book #4.
Another must read from Devney Perry!
Just when I think I’ve read everything possible from this author, she comes forward and writes Tragic.
Tragic is an absolutely flawless novel! It has so many phenomenal elements and moments, that I am struggling to write this review. I just want to tell you everything that was amazing, and that would take me hours, and this review would be never ending.
Kaine and Piper absolutely stole my heart. Almost immediately they captured my attention, and made me want to keep reading. Their love story is so powerful that I felt every single emotion they were experiencing. I felt their pain, and the love shared between them.
I have no words for how amazing this novel is. I highly urge everyone to go and read it for themselves today.
5/5 Stars!
I’m not a big fan of relationships starting of by just casual sex, but I’ve loved this series so far so there was no doubt in mind I would give this book a go.
I don’t regret reading it at all. Though I didn’t like how the book started, I loved how it progressed. Piper and Kaine started, according to themselves, their relationship backwards. And I totally agree.
I loved how they got to know each other slowly, even though they already knew each other on a physical basis. Their relationship felt genuine, not only based on lust.
Heartbreak is a big topic in this book. Both Piper and Kaine deal with it because of different circumstances, but evently they find solace within eachother. I love it when the right person can help you deal with the hard realities of life.
Now the wait for the next book has started. Luckily “Tinsel” will be out in less than a month. I’m looking forward to visiting Lark Cove again.
I don’t like that I didn’t like this book. This series so far had been pretty good. This one fell a little more flat for me.
I liked the storyline. I somewhat liked the characters. That was about it for me. I am just sitting here in the middle. I didn’t dislike the book, but I also wasn’t over the moon about this one.
I think I will start with Piper. We met her in the first book of the series. She was a kick butt character. I didn’t feel that in this book. She wasn’t the same character she seemed to be in the first one. She was a completely different character. I just wasn’t overall impressed with her, and I had a hard time connecting to her.
Kaine. The brooding, tortured, mountain man neighbor. There were times I dug his character. All other times, I just got annoyed with him and his secrets, which I saw most of them from the beginning. It wasn’t hard to pick up on what they were.
The first half of this book felt like a quest to see how many times these two could have sex. Two people who didn’t know each other at all. I think that is where things went downhill for me. They did pick back up from time to time.
The second half of the book I found myself just wanting to get to the end of the book. I found myself skimming a few parts. I was over the inner monologues. And if I am honest, bored with these characters. I think there needed to be more interaction of secondary characters in the storyline to keep the book more interesting.
I will admit I saw the end result coming a mile away. I was glad for it though. It was a good result, although all of the healing happened a little too fast after soooo much brooding. I was glad to see these two get their happily ever after.
I think most Deveny fans will enjoy this one. It just wasn’t one for me in the long run.
I am lost for words! This book just got a little peace of my heart.
I started crying before i even finished the prologue and i cried a little nore trough the rest of the book.
This story was filled with so much beauty, pain ,hope and love. It is the best one i have read in this series and that says a lot because i was crazy about the first book and i adored the second book but this one just took my heart and will not give it back!
