I have found a new to me author that I cannot wait to read the rest of her books!!
Kara witnessed her father do the unthinkable one night and her life changed forever. Brody is AFL’s top player at the moment, who has sworn off romance. Kara is given a new life and moved to Cliffside Bay, California to be safe. A chance meeting turns into something Kara and Brody couldn’t ever think of.
This is a sweet romance about two people overcoming the obstacles that is their lives to find and keep love and happiness.
It has been a while since I had a book that I would sit down to read and then find I’ve read for over an hour. I cried with the characters just as I would with my best friend in the same situation. Everyone is so real; I can’t wait to read the whole Cliffside Bay Series. There is something in this series for every type of reader.
Awesome book
A Tess Thompson book, for me, is a destination. Regardless of the storyline all of her books are beautifully written, compelling and emotional, this one is definitely one of them. A beautiful start to this series.
This does have a HEA and could be read as a standalone.
Yearning can be chancy in the game of love. Taking a presumed name, Nurse Kara Boggs involuntary went underground. She realized standing up for her beliefs had consequences. Her dad, a gangster, was the reason she gave evidence to the authorities. Athletic football player Brody Mullen has faced much hardship with his mom’s unexpected passing as well as her maid’s failing health. He hires Nurse Kara, and the chemistry fuse is lit. The amity and bonds between the characters were special, and passion and love mix well with uncertainty and intrigue.
This is the first in the Cliffside Bay series, which looks to be pretty interesting. It starts off with Kara taking on a whole new life and all that going into the witness protection program involves. She is being sent to Cliffside Bay to start her new life. Brady has just finished his season and is looking for some downtime. He has achieved one of his dreams and has been named the AFL’s best star quarterback. To say he is in the limelight is an understatement. He is the exact opposite of what Kara needs.
Despite all the negatives, Kara decides to take the job that Brady offers until she can find permanent employment at a hospital. That’s when the fun begins. Can they figure out what to do with their attraction? Should they even do anything? It would be best to ignore it for so many reasons, but somehow that doesn’t seem to be an option.
This is a good start to the series. It starts off a little slow, then settles into a very comfortable rhythm. It does stall about three-fourths of the way into the story. Then it all of a sudden kicks into full gear which makes the ending seem too abrupt. The characters are interesting and the story is good. My only complaint is the abrupt ending.
Kara and Brody in Tess Thompson’s Traded are two broken souls who have had experiences that make it difficult for them to trust others. Having to leave her former life, Kara moved to Cliffside Bay to start her new life. Along with the Mullen family and a host of friends, Kara finds what she has wanted her entire life – a family. What a lovely story with great characters who are given a second chance at happiness. I look forward to the second book in this series.
I love all her books – light, fun reads
Very good book.
One of the best first-in-series romances!
Get your introduction to Cliffside Bay in this wonderful love story between Brody and Kara. This is storytelling at its finest, with remarkable characters, intriguing suspense, a charming small town with its own array of lovable citizens, and a central romance that is as intense as it is sweet.
Be forewarned, though. Once you start reading in Cliffside Bay, you won’t ever want to leave.
Starting Anew
Kara had lost her mom at a young age and then raised by a very controlling father. But now she had graduated from college and is a Nurse Practitioner. He asked her to come visit for a weekend when she sees him murder someone. She goes to the police and after months is set up to testify and in Witness Protection. Brody is a star quarterback and has made him home in Cliffside Bay where two of the Dogs are from. Well he ends up hiring Kara to help him mom & their housekeeper with their medical issues.what a way to hide.
The first in the series was AMAZING!!! I loved the characters so much! The story had me hooked from the first page. What’s even better?? It’s a series!!! So exciting! A must read ! Well written and heartfelt!
I enjoyed this book. It is well written with many twists and interesting side characters that kept it interesting. I have already downloaded the next book in the series!
Traded: Brody And Kara is an outstanding contemporary romance by Tess Thompson. Ms. Thompson has delivered a well-written book. The characters are magnificent and my favorite part of the story. Witness Protection has hidden Kara away after she testified at her father’s trial. Brody has just won the Super Bowl and is starting his offseason but finds his mother has broken her leg and his housekeeper/cook/second mom has a brain tumor. I love the way Ms. Thompson has woven the little side stories into the main story. I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to reading more from Tess Thompson soon. Traded: Brody And Kara is book 1 of the Cliffside Bay Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Brody and Kara’s story was enjoyable. They seem like an unlikely fit, yet they find themselves thrown together.
Cliffside Bay is a lovely town and Tess Thompson truly makes the reader feel like they have visited.
I love how Tess weaves mystery, romance and friendship all into one satisfying book!
I read this book in one day. It was a real page turner and I started on the second in the series immediately. It’s small town romance with larger that life characters. The heroine has secrets that her life depends on, the hero has had issues with women in the past. Highly recommend this for feel good romance!
Brody is a quarterback in the AFL. Kara is relocating for a new life to protect herself, after testifying against her father. She leaves everything behind and is moved to Cliffside Bay. And lands on Brody’s doorstep as an in-home nurse for his mom and family housemaid.
This was my first book to read by Tess Thompson and I loved it! I loved how Brody kept denying his feelings for Kara and vice versa for Kara. And then I loved how protective Brody becomes, once he learns Kara’s secret. As I read this, I found myself saying, “Oh, just admit your feelings already, guys!” And then they do and the ending was just perfect! A great read!
I loved this story of Kara and Brody, both were very believable characters. The pace was fast and fun and had me keep reading after I should of been in bed!!!!
Great series, couldn’t stop reading
Very enjoyable book, a great read.
Very well written love story. There were no sex scenes in this book but there is definitely sexual tension and not just between the two main characters.
I can’t wait to read more in the Cliffside Bay series.
