As author Tahlula Rae has discovered; success is a double-edged sword. Leading a quiet and anonymous life, she isn’t prepared for the hateful backlash when her latest book hit the lists, propelling her into the limelight. No longer feeling safe in Denver, she takes her laptop and dog, Luke, and moves to the mountains around Durango, where her peaceful solitude is disrupted when a red-bearded man … man knocks on her door.
While one of the fire department’s finest, Evan Biel, is relatively content with his life, he can’t escape the sense something’s missing. When on fire-safety housecalls, he finds himself staring into a pair of soulful, copper-colored eyes sparking a deep interest. Discovering the exotic-looking woman may be in more trouble than he can handle, he tries—yet fails—to keep his distance.
When Tahlula offers San Antonio firefighters, Moose and Penelope Jacobs, temporary lodging, as they help fight seasonal wildfires, Evan’s relieved she’s no longer alone on the mountain. Yet when her troubles become outright threats on her life, his focus has to be keeping Tahlula safe.

Evan Biel was one of my favorite characters from Burning for Autumn, and it’s fantastic to see him get his story, and even better to have Moose and Penelope (and Smokey) sharing in it. The Operation Alpha characters fit seamlessly into the story, and their connection with Tahlula is part of a great read. It’s almost impossible to avoid spoilers, so I’m only going to comment on the characters – those are, as always in Feya Barker’s books, believable, engaging, and inspiring. The storyline is pertinent and sad, a level of prejudice that should not exist. And, please please please, can we have Trunk’s story soon?

Tracking Tahlula is Freya Barkers 3rd book in her On Call series , the cross over into Susan Stokers book world and
This time it’s the turn of Evan Biels Turn in the spotlight.
Having previously met Evan in Earlier books , we’ve already had a glimpse of the handsome bearded Redhead ( us redheads have to stick together) Firefighter , and Freya gives Evan and Talhlula a fabulous story. Tahlula a writer who escapes to a place of safety meets Evan when he visits her to warn her of the dangers of the local wildfires – but little did he expect the fire that Tahlula lights in Him.
As ever you get the perfect blend of a story that keeps you hooked right the way through.
Loved catching up with characters from previous books & that wonderful feeling of what and who are next
Like I usually say after reading a new Freya Barker book; this one is my new favorite. This book is what I wanted to read in a while. Different and something I wanted to read about.
It’s so good. I couldn’t put it down.
The chemistry between Tahlula Rae and Evan Biel is hot since the first chapter.
Love how strong and independent Tahlula is and every woman needs a Evan in their lives.
The plot is amazing. Loved it. And so awesomely written. Had me hooked since the first chapter. Freya Barker writes characters that I can relate to. And with a bonus of delicious protective alpha males and with a suspense that I love in my books.
Awesome to see characters of Susan Stoker and familiar characters of Freya Barker that I love so much.
And that last sentence at the end? The hint about the next characters? Hell to the freaking yes!!!!
5 STARS!!
Talulah is an author just starting to come into her own: One New York Times best seller list book already and two works in progress.
At forty, she decided it was time to become a mom, even without a man in the picture.
Evan is the hot firefighter who came to her door to talk to her about fire safety issues during a bad wildfire season.
Some action packed situations bring these two to a few places where they need to decide: is love most important? How do two singles manage independent homes, careers, her pet?
True love is colorblind, even if not all the world is – and love can help them face those.
Intense read!

Freya Barker never fails to amaze me with her books. They are fill of mystery and suspense and leave you always wanting more. This wonderful story belongs to Evan, a wonderful man whom you met if you read Covering Ollie. We also see a couple of firefighters from Susan Stokers book who come to fight the fires.
Evan mets and has instant attraction to Tahlula Rae, who is an author. But she has someone trying to kill her and she is not sure who that might be. A body is found not far from where she lives, and a fire is started. Pregant Tahlula has no choice but to move in temporay with Evan, she feels safe with him and soon wants more.
This wonderful story is just that, wonderful and just to say, i honestly cant get enough of this wonderful ladies books.
This author gives us stories with characters we can relate to and life experiences that many have had…and this story is no different.
I loved the strong, but not domineering character that was Tahlula. I don’t usually pay any attention to physical descriptions but Ms Barker had me picturing Tahlula in my head, a unique and beautiful woman. Evan is pretty much her opposite and an absolutely wonderful character. He has a wonderful relationship with his mom and is a true friend to those in his circle. There was one character, okay two that helped enhance the story for me – Luke and Smokey! I especially loved where Luke came from.
The suspense in this story kept me enthralled even though I figured out the “bad guy” pretty early on. We get to see some familiar faces (and learn to love them more) and get a couple of new ones too! Overall this was a wonderful reading experience that I highly recommend – I actually recommend the whole series.
