I am a ghost,a captive stripped of my own identity.I’ve lived in solitude in the depths of hell until the devil appeared, pulling me out of the darkness and shoving me into the arms of my new prison. But sometimes a prison becomes a home. And sometimes that home is within the heart of a man.I have a debt to pay and my brother’s collecting. He makes the messes and I deal with the aftermath. Only … deal with the aftermath. Only this time, he went too far and took something that wasn’t his and now it’s my problem.
She’s a liability and the last thing I need.
She’s an enigma and she’s everything I need.
Our separate hells brought us together.
Our personal inferno molded us into one.
The devil reappeared and tore us apart.
I will turn this world upside down until I find her.

Traces of Her is not for the faint of heart.
It’s dark and angsty. It was a tough read for me due to my own personal trials and tribulations.
I recommend you read When Dark Consumes and Returned to light First to get the full story.
Holy Macaroni!! Just haunting, just, wow. Traces of Her by CM Radcliff is darkness. It is waiting for the next monster to come around the corner to swallow you whole and spit you back out over and over again.
Rowena is a ghost, not really but because of her features and because of the life she has been dealt. She has learned to hide in the shadows. To not bring any attention to herself. What she endures in this book from the beginning is mind-blowing. How she can even function, I have no freaking clue but that is how the brain works. It allows us to go into that file in the back and shut out everything. The numbness the emptiness that Rowena goes into pulls you into that numbness, that darkness. I don’t wanna give to much of this book away besides what you read as the description but Rowena was stripped of everything she has ever known and not in a good way. I don’t think I will ever have bleach in my house again. The beginning of this book will have you wanting to kill. Then you just keep reading along and you think oh she has got this and then WHAM! You feel like you are on a roller coaster but the roller coaster is not going back up. She eventually meets Griffin and a little light comes into her darkness but little does she know Griffin is under his psychotic brother’s thumb. Bending over backward for his brother for years, Griffin now has to figure out how to get him and Rowena out alive.
This book is breathtaking. It is staggering, you will question your own sanity. It is definitely worth the read.
FYI: Big time trigger warnings throughout the book.
This was my first read by this author, and she blew me away with her words! This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first sentence. I loved it so much I read it in one sitting! The story of Rowena, a girl who went thru more than any person ever could, yet comes out strong. And Griffin, the savior she never knew she would find. But Griffin has a debt to pay to his brother, Jared, and Jared keeps them all trapped in his crazy world. This story has so much going for it and this author has a way of describing the scenes and characters that you can feel the emotions coming from these characters to your very soul. I highly recommend this book, it is a definite page turner!
Ghost… I never thought that word would have such an effect on me. After reading and experiencing this book, because this is not the type of book you just read it pulls you in, I can honestly say I’ve never read anything like it. The raw real emotions this books pulls forth is something that I didn’t know I could experience. Have you just wanted to reach out and hug a character but their life just sucks like much but as you watch them grow and overcome ever obstacle put in their path you can’t help but be proud. Rowena is such an amazing character. She’s absolutely resilient and that made her such a joy to watch come into her own. This is the type of book I also can’t just do the e-reader thing I need a physical copy. That’s how amazing this story is. Rowena and Griffin showed me a new path to happiness and I’ve never been more happy for a pair of characters.
This was my first book by this author and I loved it. I wasn’t sure what to expect going in but after the first three chapters, I knew I was in for a twisted story. This went beyond my expectations, had me cringing and on the edge of my seat. The twists and turns kept me guessing, I couldn’t figure out how it would go and I love that.
It’s well written and fast paced, I read it in one sitting. It’s definite dark and twisted and not for the faint at heart
I love getting a book that surprises me. It didn’t take me that long to get engrossed within the story. I felt so much for Ro… Her character might have been damaged but she wasn’t broken. She was so strong. Griffin… He tried to fight what he felt for Ro. But he wanted a love and a life only Ro could give. The ending gave me all the feels. Not just for Griffin and Ro but also for Ryder and Lydia.
“I don’t deserve you, but damn me if I’m not keeping you,” he wraps his arms around me. “You mean much more than the world to me, Ro. You are the world. You’re the air I breathe, the sun shining in the sky, the moon hanging in the dark surrounded by the brightest stars.”
Be still….. My beating gah, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read and reread this story because I’m freaking obsessed and love, love, love… Griffin! #Griffinismine
In Traces of Her we see the story unfold between Griffin and Rowena. We see the good, the bad and everything in between. We find out why they call her ghost girl and we understand and see the darkness that consumes them both.
“You think you can run and hide, just vanish like a ghost. But you can’t, love. Wherever you go, I’ll always find you.”
I honestly could not put this book down, I cried, I laughed at other’s expenses, I wanted to throat punch somebody, I vented to my girls, I cried some more and when I finished I felt an overwhelming peace, because they finally had the ending I was hoping for.
“I don’t need any words to know. Your soul, it speaks to mine with every look, every kiss, and every touch, telling me everything I need to know. You let me in, Ro and I’m never leaving.”
I want more, but I’m not sure what that consists of and I know I didn’t want there story to end. My goodness C.M. Radcliffe I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future.
This was a good dark read. I did get confused on some of the characters in the story since they appear in other books. Reading those first night have given me more information to go instead of being in the dark for some of it.
This story follows the events in the first two books from Rowena’s and Griffin’s perspective and does not disappoint. Not wanted by anyone, Rowena merely exists until she’s taken captive and drawn into Lydia and Ryder’s hell at the hands of Jared. While the hell for Lydia came to an end, Rowena’s has just begun. The only person who even cares for this ghost of a girl has his own demons to battle. The story kept me riveted. I loved the characters, feeling their hurts, heartbreak and devastation as if it were my own. Great read.
Two tortured souls meet to melt as one.
Rowena, stripped of everything, including her identity becomes a shell. Cold, distant, untouchable. She is thrown in into one situation she knows she won’t make it out without some casualties. The casualty, her heart. But she’s a survivor, a fighter through and through.
Griffin, loyal brother, actions sometimes questionable. He has a method of dealing with the Devil. He never expected Rowena to shatter his foundation.
Together they find themselves. Together they become one. Together they heal.
They face the same monster. They rise from the ashes, their love conquering all.
Ro stole my heart in When Darkness Consumes, Radcliff gave her much deserved story finally!! Her story will break your heart, but like a good book boyfriend, Griff will help you mend it. I was on the edge of my seat when reading this, fast paced and suspenseful. Ro finally got her much deserved HEA!
This book was something else. It was all sorts of twisted and demented while still providing a glimmer of change a relief at every page for our main character, Rowena. The story is original and fresh : I’d never read anything like it before. The sequence of events plays with your emotions and will make your heart race – unlike Rowena who is a as cool as a cucumber the entire time.
I was utterly captivated by the dark story. I had a hard time putting the book down. I just kept felling a gnawing need to see what would happen and kept flipping pages. This book grabs you and pulls you in from the very first page. It’s dramatic and suspenseful.
There was an abundance of characters in this book, and some you just can’t help but falling for. Each one is inherently different from the other and has a unique voice and feel. Radcliff does a great job of creating complex characters with layered pasts, which is impressive.
This was my first Radcliff book, and it definitely will not be my last! I loved every minute reading this book, and cannot wait to discover what else she has written.
Well Damn! Ghost Girl questions were finally answered! I am truly amazed and awed at what Radcliff did with this. I mean seriously, she has a knack for thinking of the most depraved and fucked up shit. I seriously would like to live in her mind for a week. What Ro went through as a child is something I wouldn’t even begin to imagine, but understand that it does happen. Do once again she pulled my heart of my chest and ground it to dust.
I loved how it follows the timeline of When Darkness Consumes and Returned to the light. All the questions, and thoughts I has about Rowena and Griffin were put to rest. Now to dive back I a read again
This was my first time reading a CM Radcliff book, and the story was really not something I was expecting.
Rowena is a ghost. She was stripped of her identity at a very tender age which made her immune to feelings. Through some tragic turn of events, she is thrown into the real world and there she meets Griffin. Griffin has two sides, one he shows to the world and the darker side. Through circumstances, even he’s embroidered into doing things he’s not proud of. Their dark past had left zagged pieces that fit perfectly with eachother.
This story is unique in itself. I have never read a plot like it. The writing is flawless, the characters brilliant with enough nailbiting moments that will keep you turning pages after pages. The only real issue I had was that the love connection between Rowena and Griffin wasn’t developed enough. They realise they love eachother right off the bat of meeting eachother. And with the things they went through in their past, I thought they would be a little more reserved trusting another. Also, Rowena as a tendency of walking into dangers knowingly where she should turn and run.
I would totally recommend reading this book because of the uniqueness of the storyline. But I would suggest reading the other in the series because I felt one can grasp the background stories of the other characters to truly enjoy this book to the fullest.
This book was amazing. From beginning to end. C.M. did an amazing job writing this book. Some parts in the book were a little hard to swallow.
Traces of Her was full of suspense, heartache, and true real life events that do happen almost daily to some.
This is my first C.M. Radcliff book and it sure won’t be my last. I love her twisted writing.
5 stars
*Arc received in exchange for my honest review*
After reading the first two books I was so excited to hear that Rowena’s story was coming! She was such a captivating character in the first two I couldn’t wait to get my paws on this book.
I loved getting her backstory. Warning it’s dark, tragic and it will break your heart. BUT what it does more than that is show her resilience. Her will to survive and rise above the shaft that she is handed in life. She’s so strong, and so beautiful. I love Ro as a person.
Griffin, GAH. I love him. My heart has grown more for him in each book. Jury was out on him in first story, but now he’s won my heart.
I loved how Radcliff weaves in the timeline from the previous two books, you get to see what Griff and Ro were going through during Ryder and Lydia’s stories. You do NOT have to read those to enjoy this, but I recommend that you do just to get the full picture. It will mean SO much more if you have (and they’re fantastic books…so you should anyway). What I liked is that it explained WHY certain characters were forced into the situations that they were by Jared. It answered all those questions I had lingering.
Fantastic read. Fantastic characters. Well done. I can’t wait to see what this author does next!
Please excuse me while I try to put into words what I just read. Absolutely phenomenal read. It is recommended one read When Darkness Consumes and Returned to the Light before divulging into this amazing, mind numbing read. Rowena and Griffin are both pawns in a situation that is beyond messed up involving Jared. In order to survive games must be played and things done that would screw with anyone’s mind. This is a story that once you start you will not be able to put down with the disturbing twists and turns. It’s a rollercoaster of a ride that you need to go on. Looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next.
Third book by this author and this one is a spin off from the other two books, you do not need to have read them to understand this book but i would advise reading them as this story is epic and you would understand more of what is happening in the background by reading the other two.
Although i loved the last two books, this book is by far my favourite of the three, much darker and the story is so gripping i was completely hooked.
It follows the story of Ghost girl and the horrific life she has led. I am so glad the author wrote this book as when i was reading the other two, the character made appearances in the books and i was hoping she would get her own story. It did not disappoint! 5 stars.
Rowena…stolen…lost…ghost… This book is a true midf&@k in the best way possible. One horrible accident from her childhood has spiraled Rowena’s whole life into a tragic set of events that leads her to a man named Griffin. This book has it all! I can’t say too much as I want you to read and experience it all for yourself but if you like mysterious psychological dark romances than this is the book for you. Told in dual POV; this is the first book I’ve read from this author and I will definitely read more from her.
Wow, didn’t know what to expect from this book, but I was not disappointed. It was dark, mysterious, intense and FABULOUS. You will love this book. A must read x
I don’t even know how to put into words how this book made me feel. How much can someone go through before they give up? This brought out so many feelings, it was dark and twisted. I have not read anything else by this author but I am for sure going back and reading the others.
“Love and fear, they need each other to exist”
