Jake Tucker is broken. At twenty-two, he went in to the Marine Corps a naïve, troubled youth. Nine years and four tours later, Jake finds himself back on US soil, though his mind remains firmly planted in the sands of Afghanistan with the men he left behind.Wounded, chewed up and spat out by war, Jake has only his dog, Nuke, PTSD, and survivor’s guilt to keep him company. He’s lived every day for … every day for nine years wondering when it will be his last, but there’s little comfort in the fact that he’s still standing when his platoon isn’t.
Ellie Mason doesn’t have time for broken. She’s too busy trying to put food on the table. And keeping up with the demands of her autistic son, Spencer, is sometimes like fighting behind enemy lines. As if navigating the minefields of single parenthood isn’t enough, Ellie finds herself drawn to the quiet Marine who’s just as lonely as she is. But she’s loved damaged men before, and it left her wounded.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Fairhope, Alabama, Ellie and Jake find themselves running toward the sound of chaos.
Love is war.
Only the strong survive, and surrender is inevitable.

Why it took me so long to pick up Toward The Sound Of Chaos is absolutely beyond me, but lord my heart I’m so glad I did.
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I fell in love with this novel. Guys this novel is EVERYTHING. I don’t even know how to articulate it into words what I feel for this beautifully written, powerful read.
From the very beginning I was hooked, totally consumed by it that I barely came up for air. I just couldn’t get enough of Jake and Ellie’s story.
It wasn’t the easiest of reads, not in the least. It was hard core on the emotions, dark, twisted, with soul crushing moments and heartbreaking scenes that my tears just flowed. Yep it was tough.
But it was also full of beauty, hope and love that slowly mended my broken heart. It was just the right amount of angst, heartache, pain, light, happiness and love encased in this exquisitely written novel.
I highly recommend Jake and Ellie’s story.
You will fall in love with ease.
I guarantee it.
5 stars
have had this book on my kindle for I don’t know how long, the cover is one of my favorites ever and then I read the blurb and had to have it but it never felt like the right time to read it I know that sounds weird but I am a firm believer that you have to be in the right mood to read certain books and I am so glad I waited. I love Carmen Jenner, Harley and Rose was my first book and I am so glad it was because it was such a beautiful book then I met Carmen Jenner and she is such a beautiful person that I just knew this was the right time to read it.
Towards the sound of chaos was such a fantastic, beautiful and heart-warming story, not only do we meet a man who was deeply affected being a POW, a little boy who has autism and a mother who has been to hell and back.
I don’t know too much about the military and learning through these books is eye opening and for the jobs they do and how some are affected afterwards is heartbreaking,
I loved Jake he was such a fantastic character and for what he was going through was extraordinary and it felt all he needed was to feel loved to bring him back to life and not still in the desert. He tried to work on himself but he seemed to be in a big dark hole and just needed help coming out to light again.
Ellie was a struggling single mum of an autistic boy just trying to make ends meet, the thing I loved about Ellie was that she was strong really strong but it was so refreshing to see her break and really feel all the emotions. She was a really beautiful character and you could understand why she had reservations opening her heart and when her past comes back for her you totally get it.
I loved the addition of Spencer he had Autism and the way the author captured his behavior and how an autistic child behaves was fantastic, he was also funny as well. As well as Spencer we also had Nuke and Nutter Butter who were service dogs and they were an awesome addition to this story.
Loved everything about this book, it was beautiful, and a fantastic love story of hope, broken hearts, devastation but it is a book that needs to be read. I really got caught up in this story and the way it was written had me feeling all the emotions.
