A sassy, laugh-out-loud second-chance romance from USA Today bestseller Carolyn Brown, author of The Strawberry Hearts Diner and The Ladies’ Room . The last time Lila Harris was in Happy, Texas, she was actively earning her reputation as the resident wild child. Now, a little older and wiser, she’s back to run her mother’s cafe for the summer. Except something about this town has her itching to … something about this town has her itching to get a little reckless and rowdy, especially when she sees her old partner-in-crime, Brody Dawson. Their chemistry is just as hot as ever. But he’s still the town’s golden boy-and she’s still the wrong kind of girl.
Brody hasn’t had much time lately for anything other than ranching. Running the biggest spread in the county and taking care of his family more than keeps him busy. All that responsibility has him longing for the carefree days of high school-and Lila. She may have grown up, but he still sees that spark of mischief in her eyes. Now he’s dreaming about late-night skinny dipping and wondering how he can possibly resist the one woman he can never forget…
“Carolyn Brown makes the sun shine brighter and the tea taste sweeter. Southern comfort in a book.” -Sheila Roberts, USA Today bestselling author

I won this book from Goodreads giveaways. I was required to give a favorable review. All thoughts are my own. This is a wonderful story of two people who have found their way back to each other after 12 years apart. He father died and they moved into the apartment her mom had built on the back of the dinner she bought. But she decided to have a couple of friends to run the restaurant and she took Lila to PA to live with her sister. Brody was the all around good guy, he ended up not going to college because he lost his father and grandfather in one summer and needed to help at both ranches. She was accused of being the resident wild child. But they loved each other but because she was poor and he had money people didn’t believe they belonged together and they were never seen together. She went to college and became a teacher. Know her mom has decided to sell the dinner because one of her friends decided to move to FL to retire. But Lila still loves Brody, and he loves her now they just have to figure out if they can make it work. A lovely story. Can’t wait to read the secomd book.

Romantic getaway book, easy read for fun!
I loved it. I would recommend it to everyone.
Fun fall read full of sass and steam!
This book is a good read for the weekend.
Lila Harris has her reservations about being back in Happy, Texas, she was once known as the town’s wild child, and the folks in her small town haven’t forgotten that after all these years… good thing she is a changed woman who has matured. She’s only planning on a short stay, long enough to help her mom run her cafe through the summer, and then she is back to her new life… problem is her old one isn’t quite ready to let go of her!
The moment Brody Dawson hears that Lila Harris is back in town, he has to make a stop at her mothers cafe, and see it for himself, and damn what a beautiful site it is, she has definitely aged well. When she blew out of town all those years ago she took a little piece of his heart along with her, and now he wants to reclaim it, even if everyone else around him thinks it’s a really bad idea. But Brody has never been one to do what others think is right….
I loved this charming southernfied romance, it grabbed my attention from the first page and kept captivated the whole way through. The folks of Happy, Texas charmed their way into my heart in a matter of minutes, made me feel right at home, and had me never wanting to leave town! Brody and Lila were quite the pair, their little love affair warmed my heart, had me laughing, and doing some serious swooning too! Ms. Brown has created a gem of series here, and I look forward to spending more time with these folks in the very near future! Highly recommend this one, Brody is sure to swoop in and steal your heart from the very first page!!
