She’s playing hard to get…to win the MMA fighter of her ultimate fantasies in a sultry new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster
Vanity Baker loves a good, clean match, but she’s not above playing a little dirty. She’s wanted Stack “The Wolf” Hannigan from day one. Seems as though the best way to corral the famously commitment-phobic fighter is to insist on keeping it … keeping it casual. And her plan works–deliciously well–until Stack’s past steps out of the shadows.
Stack learned early to stay free of attachments. But with sexy, forthright Vanity, he’s the one always left wanting more. Then his troublemaking family comes back into the picture, threatening everything Stack cares about–Vanity included. Suddenly he realizes they’re much more than friends with benefits. He’s ready to go to the mat for her…but will it be in time to protect the woman who’s tamed him for good?

Okay so this one is going to be a quickie because I have been waiting to get to Armie’s story and I don’t wanna waste hours writing a review when I could be reading about Armie and Rissy. Okay so I liked this book a little more than Cannon and Yvette’s book, but not as much as Denver and Cherry’s book. I didn’t care for the start of their relationship (Vanity asked Stack to Cannon and Yvette’s wedding which was months away and told him that they would sleep together after their wedding date, but til then she told him he could date and have sex with whoever), so I was glad when Stack told Vanity that he hadn’t been with anyone since making their date plans because he wanted her. It helped me accept their relationship a little more.
Vanity I liked although at time I felt she was a little too perfect. Stack was just okay for me. At times I thought he was a jerk. He wanted Vanity but would hold her at arm’s length. He was afraid of commitment but there was never really a reason I could see for why he was so scared to commit. It didn’t make sense and it annoyed me. There were times while reading this book I would ask myself why in the hell Vanity even wasted her time wanting Stack. There really wasn’t nothing special about him and add in his jerk attitude, and his commitment issues and he doesn’t sound like a winner to me but hey to each his or her own. I loved that Rissy and Armie kissed in this book, now if he can just not mess it up I will be a happy lady. This book may not be my favorite of the series but it held my attention and entertained me. Now I am on to Armie’s book!!! YAY.
Lori Foster has delivered another knock-out punch with Tough Love, book 3 in the Ultimate series. I don’t know how she does it but each book in this series just keeps getting better and better- there’s been no letdown in the storylines or with the characters.
Tough Love picks up where Holding Strong leaves off, with Stack and Vanity about to make good on the deal they made prior to Cannon and Yvette’s wedding. It’s a deal Vanity presented him with, and one he’s more than happy to comply with. One night together, no commitment, no strings, no expectations.
“Im playing with you, Stack Hannigan, and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a very long time.”
How can you not love Vanity Baker? She’s a strong independent woman who knows what she wants, and she wants Stack, and she’ll do just about anything to get him, even playing his own game against him. He’s not one to settle down or get attached, so when Vanity offers him an opportunity to have a little fun, and to just keep things casual he jumps at the chance. But little does Stack realize that Vanity is the one doing the playing this time, making him crazy and left wanting more.
Stack and Vanity are one hot couple. It was fun to see Vanity take charge and lead their relationship, to see her step in to help his family, to see her behave and do things that typically you’d see from the male lead.
When trouble presents itself, and both Vanity and Stack face danger, he realizes he would do anything to keep her safe, and that he doesn’t want just casual with her anymore- he wants so much more.
This book focuses on the relationship between Vanity and Stack, the troubles, the fun, the family drama, everything that they have to go through to get their hea. But like the rest of this series we are treated to the rest of the Ultimate family…Cannon & Yvett, Denver & Cherry, Armie and Merissa. And we get to see a lot more of Leese, Brand, and Miles.
I am just so in love this series.
After losing her family in a accident Vanity Baker has spent a good portion of her life alone, and has missed being part of a family. When her best friend Yvette moves away to be with the man of her dreams, Vanity decides to follow her and finds herself surrounded by a gorgeous group of fighters who have welcomed her into their little family with open arms. She has begun to build friendships with some of the guys and has even set her sights on one of them, the only problem is he’s not really interested in her or having a serious relationship with any woman, he’s more of one night kind of guy. Vanity decides the only way she can possibly catch his eye is to devise a little plan that will hopefully trick him into wanting to pursue a relationship with her, so she invites him to be her date to her friends wedding. With the promise of a no strings attached date and romp between the sheets he’s sure to agree right?
Stack “the wolf” Hannigan is a beast in the ring and out, his alpha man attitude and tough exterior make him quite desirable to all the ladies, especially one lady in particular. Stack is well known for only doing one night stands, keeping things feelings free, and steers clear of anything that resembles a commitment. So, when Vanity Baker offers him the perfect string – free night he is all to eager to take her up on it, and even keeps himself celibate until the big night. He’s never really taken a interest in pursuing Vanity, but once the deal is made, he begins to appreciate things about her that he never noticed before. Can he keep up with his end of the bargain, or has this eternal bachelor finally met the one opponent that will have him surrendering his heart and gladly admitting defeat?
It has been a while since my last book by Ms. Foster, and after one page in I was quickly reminded of how much I love reading her book’s, this series has become my new little literary addiction! I am a sucker for tough alpha male characters and this book completely surpassed all my expectations… and left me dying to get better acquainted with the rest of the tantalizing men in the Ultimate Series!
Highly recommend you add this book to the top of your reading list, it’s sure to satisfy all your reading needs. . . and then some!
