I have never read from this author so it was a nice surprise. I really enjoyed the writing, the story and the plot! It was a fantastic story and I really loved it.
That prologue had me hooked from the moment I read it, and as per usual I finished it in one sitting and wow it blew my mind. It was so well written where it hit my emotions and it did at one point turn me into a mess.
Mia was so untrusting it was so sad but once you know the backstory it is so clear why. Every time she questioned Jake’s motives or even Maddox’s my heart literally broke for her. When we discover more about her my heart breaks even more (I don’t want to go into full detail because of spoilers) and Mia is so strong and the way she managed to rebuild her trust and just become a new person.
Jake he damn, straight away he was willing to help Mia and I loved that. I loved how caring he was and lovely. He was willing to do anything to make sure she was okay and even gave her a place to sleep without even telling her. I loved how he was the boss and yet didn’t do the usual ego asshole boss thing and he didn’t actually tell her until she figured it out.
Maddox! Loved that he was teaching her self-defence!
This story gave me so many feelings, it went from being hit in all the feels to being tense, to be really cute. It sent me all over the place in terms of feelings and I loved it!
One of my favourite things in this book is when Jake tells Mia to take ownership of her name, now I won’t say much because of spoilers and I don’t want to ruin it. But when that scene happened I was like yes girl take ownership of your name back and I loved it! It was so perfect and especially as Jake wasn’t willing to let her give it up.
Brent is a very interesting character. That’s all I’ll say on him.
The plot, characters, story and writing was perfect, this book hit me in all the right places. I will definitely be reading more from this author! I didn’t see where the plot was going and I loved it! I would highly recommend this book! It was so great and it will give you all the feels!
Touching Sin is a powerful story of one woman’s escape from an abusive relationship. And the danger she was willing to face out on her own, which far outweighed what she would have endured had she stayed. Love that J. Saman is donating all pre-order proceeds to No More~domestic violence & sexual assault charity. So generous!
Mia didn’t want to socialize or make fast friends, because, they tended to ask questions she didn’t have the answers to. So, she avoided everyone at all costs. It was better that way and just made her predicament that much more bearable. She was determined to work as hard as she could and when the timing was right, she’d slip away as silently as she appeared. But, just when you think you have it all figured out, something is bound to go wrong.
Jake was driven to help Mia/Fiona whether she wanted it or not. You see, he knew firsthand what it was like to have secrets and a few demons of his own. Which made him even more determined to protect her and keep her safe. From what, he had no clue but he wanted to be the one to catch her if she fell. It wouldn’t be no easy feat since she was stubborn and independent. But, eventually her secrets would unravel and he’d be there.
Touching Sin is one helluva ride, but it’s one well worth reading. Bravo to Ms. Saman for tackling such an emotional topic and for doing such an amazing job. I highly recommend Touching Sin to everyone who believes that nice guys don’t necessarily finish last. 5 beautiful stars!
The story line in this book was quite different to other reads I had a pleasure to finish. It was more action packed and kept me on my toes. I couldn’t put the book down it captured my full attention. All the twists and unforeseen events made it even better. Author perfectly showed how abuse can ruin people lives and how it affects self-respect and can strip us of our confidence. On the other hand it gives us hope that somewhere there are people willing to help others when they are struggling and are in need of support. This book reminds me of film with Julia Roberts “Sleeping with the Enemy”. It is a great and fantastic read!
J. Saman delivers a addicting slow burn romance that had me full of anticipation.
I loved this storyline. From the second we meet Mia you know that she’s running away from something or someone terrible. And from the moment her and Jake meet I instantly wanted these two together. He very quickly became the knight in shining armor.
And man did I love Jake. The way in which he made sure, even without knowing exactly what Mia’s story was, that she was safe was heartwarming and can you say swoon. Jake’s story is just as interesting as Mia’s was.
This romance is a slow burn as Jake does what he can to chip away at the barrier that Mia has put up. The moments between these two were sweet and kept me craving more. There are also a few other characters in this one that I became interested in as well and I’m hoping they have stories that I can devour.
I adored this read, I fell in love with Jake and I admired Mia’s bravery.
Suspenseful, heartwarming with a hero that you crave in a romance, Touching Sin is a definite recommend from me.
What an enjoyable first read from this author it turned out to be! I thought this was going to be a bit more suspenseful, but it didn’t stop me from devouring Jake and Mia’s story. These two were absolutely scorching when they were together. It was a bit of a slow burn for them to finally be together, but it was evident from the very moment they met, that it was only a matter of time.
I felt absolutely horrible for Mia and the circumstances she was brought under. With an abusive ex-husband who she met as a teen, he constantly planted seeds in her mind to make him out like he was a decent person. But he had major ulterior motives when it came to Mia and this huge empire she would have to take over when she was of age. Running away and storming into Jake’s life was definitely one of the best things to happen to her. I found her so strong already because she realized that she needed to get herself out of a bad situation. But it was tough because she’d essentially be living a life constantly looking over her shoulder.
Right from the very beginning, I knew there was so much more that we didn’t know about Mia and even Jake figured out too. And rather quickly might I add. He was completely lost under her spell and he made it his goal to get this courageous and beautiful woman to fully trust him.
I never been so happy for a dual POV than I was with Touching Sin. Reading Jake’s thoughts was something I definitely wasn’t expecting, he was so different than I thought he would be. He has such a gentle soul, but still emits this ferocity and probably someone you’d never want on your bad side. I loved how persistent he was towards Mia, he would never give up on her. He definitely made it his life mission to get her to open up to him.
Their relationship definitely took time. Mia hasn’t known love in her life and the one she thought she did love, did a 180 on her and completely shattered her world. Mia’s a little broken and has walls built up around her heart. Trust doesn’t come easy if even she does know that Jake would do anything to protect it. A man with that kind of patience is a keeper! But beyond all that, Mia is a fighter and she’ll hold her ground in any situation. Shoot, I wouldn’t want her on my bad side either.
Seriously, what a story to read and definitely won’t be my last from this author. I did feel like it lulled a bit in the middle, but it quickly picked up towards the end with some twists and turns I didn’t exactly see coming. The story just unfolds even more, but ties rather nicely by the end. Definitely wasn’t disappointed!
**trigger warning, Mia does recall on what happened to her in the past, but the actual scene is not played out in Touching Sin**
This is the first book in a new series from this exceedingly talented author, and what an amazing introduction this is. Mia is running from her past, and fate brings Jake into her life when her car breaks down. Jack recognises that Mia has demons, as he does, and he will do whatever he has to in order to protect her and keep her safe. Maddox – what can I say; I cannot wait for him to have his own story! No spoilers; this is one of those stories which is a definite must read, as you will not be disappointed! This author has done a truly phenomenal job in penning this beautiful story, which is gritty, raw, thrilling, emotional, heartbreaking, and an all round powerful read. I cannot wait to read more in this series, and I highly recommend for all readers!
This book was awesome from start to finish. I loved Jake and Mia! The story was action packed and a definite page turner. If you haven’t read J. Saman before this will get you reading more. I definitely recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Mia is on the run from her abusive husband. She has no family, no friends, and no one she trusts. Her truck breaks down on a deserted highway, leaving her stranded with no cell service. Jake just happens to be driving down the highway when he stops behind the truck, offering his assistance. Upon laying eyes on Mia, he offers to drive her into town. Little does he know that small gesture will entwine his life with hers.
Jake has no idea who Mia really is and who she is running from. With secrets of his own, he can’t figure out why he is drawn to her. Mia is very guarded, keeps a low profile and trusts no one. It was her trust in the wrong man that caused her to be on the run. She knows she can’t let that happen again. But Jake slowly tears down her brick wall, giving bits and pieces of himself in hopes she will trust him. Mia likes Jake and knows in her heart she does not need to be afraid of him, but she also knows what her husband is capable of and needs to keep Jake safe by staying away from him. Jake will not let that happen and when they eventually give in to each other, she finally feels loved, cherished and safe. But lurking in the distance is her husband, and he will do whatever he can to get her back.
Mia is broken, cautious, and scared of everyone and everything, and Jake just wants to protect her and keep her safe. This was such a great book and I am looking forward to the next one!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader’s copy.
Secrets and Lies and Love, oh my! What’s more Las Vegas than that?!
Touching Sin has definitely been added to my Favorite Reads list! Mia and Jake’s story was amazing! It was beautiful and wonderful and inspiring. And suspenseful! I can usually figure out what the twist in a book is going to be but this one had me guessing right up until the end! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!
We meet Mia as a woman who was beaten and broken down by the ones who were supposed to build her up and cherish her. She has left her old life behind to find something new, something safe. We watch as she fights for herself, and sometimes fights with herself, for this new life she desperately needs. A beautiful new life that she deserves.
Then there’s Jake, the incredibly patient, handsome man who can’t seem to get Mia off his mind after finding her on the side of the road. Even after she ghosts him! Once he sees her again, he is determined to help her, to protect her. No matter what. We watch as Jake works and waits patiently to earn Mia’s trust, in order to earn what he’s really after, her heart.
This one beautiful story is that I highly recommend
I loved this book. I knew I was going to like it from the very first page.
I liked the way this author writes. Her words are so truth and meaningful. I found many smart sentences in the prologue.
This story was really interesting to me.
Mia and Jake both had some secrets, but they were not very good at hiding them.
Both of theme were very interesting,in their own way, with their own stories and I wanted to know more about theme. This is the first time I read a story like this one,I usually don’t pick this subjects because they are hard for me to read. But,author did a really good job with delivering this tale.
I could feel how sad, lonely, scared and hopeless Mia was at the beginning.
At the same time Jake was everything that she was not. He helped her when she was at her worst. He is a god guy and I really liked him.
I don’t want to spoil this story to anybody.
Like I sad before, there are things inside this pages that are worth reading, smart things that can give you hope and make you believe that people like Jake excite in this world.
Once again,great job J. Saman.
TOUCHING SIN by J. Saman is the First book in the Las Vegas Sin series. This is the story of Jake and MIA/FIONA.
Mia was on the run from a very abusive relationship working to put as much distance physically as much as emotionally when she breaks down. Jake turns into her White Knight who helps her in more ways then just one. Jake knows Mia is hiding something but he goes forward to help her even adding to his growing feelings for her. Mia was somewhat slow to give into another relationship after what she is running from but there is something about Jake that slowly starts to open her up. Jake was a wonderful hero…a great ‘book boyfriend’.
Really enjoyed this book.
I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.
Having read and fallen helplessly for J. Saman’s writing in Reckless Love, I was more than ready to experience more of her hot and steamy stories and characters that kept me twisted in knots. It wasn’t long into entering the fictional world of Touching Sin and I was swept away into Las Vegas, the sin city full of magical lights and people running from their problems while encountering many more. Jake and Mia kept the sexual tension at dizzying heights and the mystery and suspense crashing down all around us.
Mia aka “Sunshine” as Jake affectionately calls her is a woman on the run from a life full of terror, abuse, and repression. This heroine soon finds out that love and danger will find you no matter who or where you are. Mia first comes across as a scared and lost young woman born with money but the reader soon finds out that she is intelligent, intuitive, and brave. When the stakes are high, she goes all in and does what she needs to do to protect herself and follow her heart.
Jake Harrison is a hero that I couldn’t wait to unwrap and see what was underneath those tattooed muscles and secretive mind. I loved peeling back all of his secrets and seeing the awesome man that is there for Mia in every way possible. Of course the gorgeous man and filthy mouth that says all the right things is just the icing on the cake that I was ready to eat every morsel of.
J. Saman delivers a scorching, heart melting, adrenaline pumping beginning to the Las Vegas Sin series that gives readers a couple that they can’t help but fall for. I highly recommend Touching Sin for all the mystery, heat, and romance that a reader can handle. I loved every minute of being in this fictional world and cannot wait to step back into it and encounter more of J. Saman’s amazing storytelling skills and enchanting characters.
Ah, Ms. Saman, what have you done to my heart?! It lies precariously in my chest, battered, bruised and beaten only to be stitched, salved and soothed by this terrifyingly thrilling, achingly tender, exquisitely beautiful Touching Sin. I always anticipate something heartfelt, emotional and amazing from this author, but this one is more. So, so much more! This book captured my mind from the beginning, incarcerated my heart throughout, and left its indelible mark on my soul by the end. It has a bit of everything – intense drama, agonizing suspense, hauntingly poetic prose and an ardent, profound, slow-burn romance.
Most impactful is the concept of defining moments. Innocuous, seemingly inconsequential choices that have the power to change the course of one’s life. If Jake hadn’t stopped to help Mia when her car died on the side of the road, their lives, as well as others, would have been vastly different. Jake is the piece de resistance of romance heroes with his huge heart, fierce protective streak, single-minded determination and stubborn love of Mia. And Mia. Running for her life, hiding in plain sight and, against her will, wisdom and all good sense, relying on the kindness of strangers. Two strangers in particular, Maddox and Jake. Men, the very thing she’s running from. There needs to be a word in the English language to define that feeling of wanting something so desperately that it seeps into the very blood for which the heart beats while at the same time being so terrified of it you want to run fast and far away from it while screaming yourself hoarse. That describes Mia’s feelings when it comes to Jake. Her longing and desire, her reluctance and fear.
This story kept me glued to every page, every word, with its elegant prose, engrossing plot, deliciously riveting storyline, authentically vulnerable and compellingly endearing characters and the careful, impeccable handling of the domestic violence element. I adore these characters, despite their keeping me up way too late reading while I accompanied them on their journey to forever and then forcing me out of bed with bits and pieces of my review of their story. Jake and Mia aren’t characters I can cast aside and move on to my next romance because they worked themselves so deeply into my heart I suspect they are a part of me forever. Maddox managed to sneak a piece of my heart so that I need his story now, and even Gavin has me intrigued and I’m desperately curious to uncover all his secrets. This one easily has a spot in my list of top five books for the year and I urge you to hit the 1-Click now. Touching Sin will touch your soul, and Jake and Mia will capture your heart.
Jake and Mia have completely overtaken my mind and my heart. Mia’s life experience to date has been horrible. I’m in awe of her survivor attitude, her strength and am so glad that Jake was the one whom stopped to help her when her car left her stranded. These two have a heart-stopping, adrenaline-fueled journey that completely shook me and had me reading straight-through, into the early hours of the morning. Now, I’m off to read the 2nd standalone book in the series and Maddox’s story, Catching Sin.

: 4.5/5
I was hooked from the beginning on this story. I love how it started, it immediately pulled me in to the story. You grasp the serious situation that Mia is in, whilst not a lot of information is given away. I was what made me want to keep on reading. I loved Mia as an character. Even though, she might be running from something, she felt like a strong character. The interactions between Mia and Jake felt very heartfelt. It was easy to connect with them as characters. They had a lot of meaningful moments together. I just wish there were more moments between Mia and Maddox, I wished their friendship was portrayed a bit more and ran a bit deeper. The story itself was also thought out really well, with a couple of surprises on the way (of which some I really did not see coming). And the cameo’s from Ryan, Luke and Claire were everything for me (you can read about them in the Start Again series, which I loved!). Overall, an amazing read with lots of romance, mystery, angst and action if you ask me!

Let me start off by saying everyone needs to read this book! From the very beginning I knew I would love it. The main characters Jake and Mia are absolutely perfect for each other. But there’s one problem, it appears Mia is running from something, but what? They meet in an unconventional way and Jake knew there was something special about her. But when she disappears on him, will he ever see her again?
Mia didn’t have exactly the best life growing up and she knew she needed to get away before her life got worse. What she never expected was to meet someone like Jake. He is the opposite of what she is used to. He’s handsome, kind and protective. She knows she shouldn’t fall for him, but sometimes life doesn’t always go as planned.
I loved the interactions between these two not to mention their sizzling chemistry. I wanted to hug Mia and let her know everything will be okay, and to tell Jake to take care of her. This story will take you on a wild ride and you will love and enjoy it as much as I did!
Touching Sin by J. Saman is the first book in her Las Vegas Sin series. The story of Jake and Mia, told in dual POV, beginning on a deserted road in a broken down car and a chance rescue and ending with a Las Vegas Hotel Mogul, a murder, an heiress, and a happy ever after. The journey to get from one to the next was well-written and well-paced with a few surprises for the reader leaving you on tenterhooks throughout the story. Especially when the author leaves you guessing about each of the characters full back stories until she absolutely has to share. Riveting and sexy – This was my first book by this author and she has found a new fan. Enjoy!
Awesome read. Had trouble putting it down.
This month is my month for doing things backward. I read the second book in the Las Vegas Sin series, Catching Sin, before I read Touching Sin. *sigh* I need to get myself together. Touching Sin takes on the story of reluctant hotelier mogul Jake Turner and Mia Jones. Mia is on the run from her abusive husband when her crappy car breaks down outside of Vegas. Jake Turner is returning from the lake and picks Mia up. When she bolts as soon as they hit town leaving Jake to wonder if she is alright. Imagine his surprise when two weeks later, Mia is a bartender at his hotel and he is training her.
What I like about romance novels is the ability to suspend the “real world” and fall into a story. One where fate sends an abused woman two truly good guys to help her, one of which is her soulmate, after living a life of isolation and continued abuse. Mia was raised in a home where her father ruled with an iron fist and her mother ignored her. When Niklas, her husband, enters her life she is blinded by false charm. Despite that, Mia is strong and determined to live. She realizes that to survive she has to find the ability to trust while still being cautious. Jack is a typical rich boy adrift. Going to college because Dad said to, gathering degrees and partying was SOP. Thrust into responsibility, he is feeling his way around. Meeting Mia forces him to take his life more seriously, be the man he is supposed to be.
Touching Sin moves at a good pace, with Jack and Mia dancing around each other, engaging in mental foreplay as Mia finds her feet while still looking over her shoulder. J. Saman strikes a good balance between intriguing action and relationship growth making for an engaging, easy read.
What a great suspense story! Mia is running literally for her life, but when her car breaks down on the side of the road, she believes it’s the end for her. Thankfully, Jake stumbles upon her and the car and decides to be a Good Samaritan, which goes un-thanked when Mia bails in an opportunity to keep running. Through a series of fateful events, Mia ends up staying in town and gets a job as a waitress, only to find out her trainer is non other than Jake. As the pair get to know each other, the two divulge their secrets as a sign of trust and with Mia’s past catching up to her. This storyline was pretty run of the mill, so nothing really stuck out to me about it. I did enjoy the style of writing though; I continued to guess what would happen through the end (although with this storyline I knew what would happen). Overall it was a good book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
