From USA Today Bestseller Wendy Vella comes an exciting Regency series about legend, love and destiny, with a hint of magic … Unlucky in love, Essie has resolved to live a quiet, solitary life as a healer and leave passion to the young and foolish. Well done with interesting characters… Three dimensional as people are.
This was a love story but with a slightly mystical bent. I’m usually not too fond of those types but this one held my attention and I liked the push and pull of it. My only complaint is the ending. The villain went to great lengths to kill the hero outright so I found the ending out of character for how he was described. Otherwise I enjoyed it, and I enjoyed the family described in it. Most books lean time to time on family characters, this one was sweet about it.
A good read. The Raven and Sinclair families have a symbiotic relationship. It seems the Raven family is outgoing and get into trouble. The Sinclairs have each been given certain power such as healing, smell that they use to help others.
This is a page turner and hard to put down.
A great story. The are some dark times in each of their lives that have to be acknowledged and worked through before they can accept each others attraction.
This is the first book I read in the series and I enjoyed it so much I decided to get all the others. In all you have the strong, handsome male with a soft heart, who falls for an equally strong woman who can hold her own but still be malleable for her man. Which is true of Max and Essie in this story. I enjoyed this book and read it a second time after reading books 1 and 2 so that all the characters would be familiar to me as I read on and because I liked the chemistry between Max and Essie. It’s an entertaining read.
I enjoyed this book
I loved all the twists and turns in this book. Great characters as well.
Great book, couldn’t put it down until I finished reading the entire book.
Loved the interaction of family members. Very witty yet the protection of each member’s special ability was touching. The intrigue was an exciting bonus to the love story!
I have read all the books in this series up to this point. I have enjoyed everyone of them. Look forward to more of this family.
I enjoyed it but my biggest complaint is that I can’t get it off my device now.
Was a good book better than many I have read!
Overall, the characters’ in Wendy Vella’s books have an interesting backstory, especially among the Sinclairs. I especially like the interaction among the siblings. That is the biggest positive in my book. I like her attempt at action scenes, but it is all weakened by the spineless heroines she creates.
Why is it that no matter how unreasonable the sexy hero’s actions, the heroine CAVES to his preferences every single time. Max decides to take Essie’s innocence and leave within hours of the encounter, yet despite being a bit heartsick at this, and finding out he lied, she submits to his kisses and touches. The same happened in the previous book, with Lily and Dev, where she demands that he leaves HER house, where she takes care of the street kids. Yet he simply refuses, and continues throughout her tour with his sister.
Yeah, Max and Dev are the “good guys”, but STILL. Would it be so bad for the women to have a little backbone, instead of melting at every touch?? I kick myself for finishing both books, and will likely not return for a 3rd go, but i will admit that it was a page turner, even as I was stewing over these spineless women.
