From USA Today Bestseller Wendy Vella comes an exciting Regency series about legend, love and destiny, with a hint of magic … Unlucky in love, Essie has resolved to live a quiet, solitary life as a healer and leave passion to the young and foolish. When Max Huntington falls into her herb garden, a bullet hole in his side, her only intention is to heal him quickly and send him on his way. Then she touches him, and from that moment on, fate steps in with dangerous consequences for them both.
Someone wants Max dead. It was only the actions of his beautiful healer, that saved him. Miss Sinclair is sweet, determined and makes him yearn for things he’d long left in the past. His deliberate fabrication has her believing him a penniless nobody, his caress has her yielding, but Max must lie, and leave, for Essie’s own good. When broken-hearted Essie returns to London, she once again encounters Max, and discovers his true identity. Horrified and angry that yet another man has played her for a fool, she vows to have nothing more to do with him, but destiny won’t be denied and soon they are embroiled in a desperate chase to find his would-be killer before he finds them first.

Loved this book. Very entertaining story of a woman who helps everyone with her healing and care. The family, Sinclair, is a close one who loves each other and helps each other. There are seven siblings (same as my family). This story is about the oldest girl and meeting a wounded man who she saves.
Love the author. I have read all her books
I lost sleep because I couldn’t put it down. A great addition to a wonderful series.
I have enjoyed the entire series of books on the Sinclair/Raven families!
I really enjoy the third book in this series. The theme across book 1 and 2, carried on nicely. I love the mystery surrounding the Raven family.
I think these books are great fun and bear rereading. You become a fan of the families. Well written. A joy.!
Touched By Danger – (A Sinclair & Raven Novel Book 3) – Wendy Vella
The Sinclair family was given the job of protecting any member of the House of Raven. All the Sinclair’s have heightened senses, hearing, sight, smell and use of herbs/taste. Book 3 is the story of Essex Sinclair and Maxwell Huntington. The story starts with Essex (Essie) in her herb garden at home Oak’s Knoll. Max falls off his horse right into Essie’s garden. When Cam and Bertie help move him to a room where Essie can treat him. She finds out he has been shot and removes the bullet, her every intention that he should survive.
In the past Essie had an experience with a man she thought she loved only to find out he betrayed her, being as hurt as she was by that experience Essie decided she would never marry and she is drawn to him while he is there. After a night with Max, Essie is again hurt because when she awakes in the morning she finds he has left Oaks Knoll with no note and no good bye.
Essie and Cam return to London and circumstances throws Essie back into Max’s life. Max has not lead an easy life. He spends much time freeing young cabin boys from the clutches of terrible ship’s captains, as he learned as a young lad that cabin boys are frequently mistreated and sometimes killed. Essie has to come to terms with seeing and spending time with Max as she wishes to help take care of these unfortunate boys as well.
In Touched by Danger, Wendy Vella gives us intrigue, suspicion, mayhem, secrets, family surprises and revenge, which end with a return for the family to Oak’s Knoll for a wedding and babies expanding the Sinclair/Raven families.
Essie is my favorite Sinclair!
This third book in the Sinclair and Raven series will really touch your heart. Essie is the most sensitive, introspective member of the boisterous Sinclair clan, and she doesn’t quite know what to do with her unexpected attraction to Max, a mysterious man who lands in her garden with a gunshot wound.
The mystery surrounding Max and his past is exquisitely detailed alongside the day-to-day interactions of the growing Sinclair and Raven families. Max is a delicious book boyfriend, everything that we could dream of in a swashbuckling yet tortured hero, and he is an excellent addition to the series. His tender pursuit of Essie was so sweet, so poignant, both heartwarming and sensual, and he turns out to be everything that Essie could ever want.
I’m absolutely in love with this series, and highly recommend each book to anyone who loves historical romances.
Loved this book – great characters, wonderful family, realistic and entertaining dialogue – great series plot!
Love everything she writes!
I have read and followed the characters through each book loved them. All
love this author
Read the series
I found this to be a beautiful love story.
Not particularly believable.
I’m not sure exactly what it is about this story, but it just isn’t my favorite in the series. From reading farther alone, I really like Max. In his own book, I thought he was sort of “meh”. I wanted to connect with him and Essie better, yet it felt like they were written at mostly the surface level. There was gold to be mined from Max’s backstory however, at the end of the book, it wasn’t utilized to the fullest. I can sympathize with Essie’s crisis of self-confidence, but it got repetitive. Even the plot of someone trying to kill Max felt surface-level. The ‘big reveal’ is handed to us a fait accompli and we’re never given very many details. I love the melodramatic villain pontificating about the Master Plan, which means I felt very shortchanged here. I still love the series, and I love who Essie and Max grow into later in the series, so I’m going to keep reading.
enjoyed the interconnectedness of the characters
I only got a third of the way through the book and I couldn’t stand it any more. The dialog was just so much “blah blah blah blah”. It seemed to do nothing to move the story forward. Try as I might, I just lost interest!
I like the bit of paranormal in the plot. I’ve read several others in the series .
Wonderful book
