This is the way to begin a series! Kane and Halley are a perfect match for each other. Kane was surprised to find her when he answered the call for a stranded car and find out she still lived in the area after they had been in high school together. From that chance meeting it is obvious there is chemistry between them even if Halley is quite insecure and shy but lucky for her Kane is not to be deterred. All it takes is some determination and neither could stop the eventual fall. Halley had a lot to overcome and working through her fears and insecurities but Kane was just what she needed. This was well written with great characters. I can hardly wait to see what is going to happen with Phoebe!
This is The first standalone book in the new series from Carly Phillips and she has not disappointed with this book. Kane Harmon is a mechanic that used to stand up for Halley Ward when they were growing up. Halley had a horrible childhood with being in the foster care. Kane had his own issues with his fathers gambling issues. Now with both having to deal with demons from their past and seeing if they can make a relationship work with each other.
Carly Phillips has again written a great story that you can’t put down and know your waiting for the next book in this series breathe.

Fearless is book 1 in the new Rosewood Bay series by Carly Phillips and as always another well written book! It’s takes you on a journey of two souls who are lost but for totally different reasons..when they meet Kane feels a connection to Halley and sets out to show her that life had color, hope and new beginnings but can these two find their ways together or will history repeat itself and keep the colors faded??;
Fearless is Book 1 in the Rosewood Bay Series.
Kane Harmon is a mechanic and runs his family’s garage. He took over from his dad when he dad’s demon’s got the best of him. Kane avoids summer flings with the summer people after being burnt.
Halley was put in the foster care system due to neglect from her drug addicted mother. Halley was bounced from home to home due to no fault of her own until her sister, Phoebe and her are taken in by their aunt. Her mom came from a wealthy family and it’s hard for Halley to accept that.
After Kane rescues Halley’s broken down car he finally convinces her to accept a date. These two have baggage. Kane with growning up with a dad who has a gambling addiction and Halley’s with her past experiences in the foster care system.
What I loved the most about Kane (trust me there is a lot to love) is that he seems to know exactly how to tread with Halley. How to get her to open up a little at a time and how to back off when she’s getting uncomfortable. This wonderful man has a lot on his plate, he’s running the family business, helping his single mom sister out by taking care of his nephew when needed and being the adult child when his dad goes off the rails.
I loved it when jealousy reared it’s ugly head and made Halley claim Kane as hers without even thinking about it. Suprised him too in a very good way!
When Halley’s past comes into her present and shakes her beliefs in herself she shuts down again and this time the only one that can save her is herself.
When Halley blocks Kane out of her life it’s soul crushing. They both finally had a well deserved happiness going. They were each making changes to gain control of their lives and their possible future and now their future seems to be one that they will not have together. The struggle that Halley had was so real. I wanted to help her out and give her words of encouragement to reach for her happiness.
This series is off to a great start! Can’t wait to read Book 2, Breathe
I’ve been reading books by Carly Phillips for years and have loved them all. Fearless is absolutely my favorite book she has ever written. I literally read it in one sitting and wanted to restart it as soon as I finished reading it.
Halley Ward and her older sister Phoebe were put into the foster system at a very young age. Their baby sister Juliette had already gone to live with her father and the girls didn’t hear from family until their Aunt Joy found out about them being in the foster system 10 years later. Halley is happiest at her oceanside cottage painting. She is happy to live a pretty solitary life with no commitments to another person. Well she is until she meets Kane Harmon again and he keeps appearing in her life. I love that Kane was a friend first with Halley and a constant presence in her life without ever pushing her to do or be more than what se was ready for. They had a pretty instant attraction to one another, yet there really was more of a slow burn to them being together. Based on everything we learned of Halley’s past, any other type of start wouldn’t have worked for them long term.
Halley comes across as pretty delicate in the beginning. However when you find out everything she has survived from the time with her mother and then in foster care, she has a backbone and a strength to her that most people don’t have. Yes she chooses to spend time with only a select few people as self-preservation, but I had so much respect for Halley the more we learned about all she had gone through. When her mother comes back into the picture, I honestly hoped with everything in me that she was ready to change and be a part of her children’s lives again. I had a feeling about what she was going to do, but still broke my heart to see how it effected Halley.
Fearless hit on all my emotions and I loved every single minute of this book. I laughed, cried, sighed and even got angry a couple of times, but loved the ride along the way. I loved Halley and Kane’s story and can’t wait to read Phoebe’s story next.

I really enjoyed this book and felt it was a very good start to this new series. Complex characters that shared a beautiful emotional connection and an attraction that slowly simmers. Kane is truly a swoon worthy hero. A sexy, caring, hardworking guy that has had his heart broken and now protects himself by avoiding commitment, until he runs into Halley. Halley’s stronger than she thinks. She’s survived, but has closed herself off to life and love. The love story that unfolds between these two will put your emotions through the ringer. An emotional read, with drama, angst, sweetness and some humor.
Fearless is an amazing start to Carly Phillips new series Rosewood Bay. The series is about Ward Sisters – Halley, Phoebe and Juliette.
Kane Harmon and Halley Ward reconnect with each other after Halley car breaks down. Kane was the boy who helped her in High School after she moved to town. Their story is full of emotions as they fight with acceptance, addition, and abandonment.
Carly knows how to pull you in with her characters and what they are going through, that you get lost in her books. Kane was the most patient man with Halley, which sometimes you want to yell at her to rely sooner on what a great guy she had. I relented with Halley so much with her issues with her mother that it broke my heart all over again.
**That little tease of Phoebe’s story has me impatiently for the next book**
Kane Harmon runs his family’s garage in a small, coastal New England town and avoids the female tourists at all costs. He took a chance on one of those a few years ago and she broke his heart. Apparently Kane was good enough for a summer fling but not good enough to be a husband, and he’s not had much interest in the opposite sex since.
Halley had a rough childhood with a drug addict mother and too many bad foster homes until her aunt took in Halley and her sister Phoebe. Halley doesn’t like crowds or people in her personal space, and is very careful to only engage in meaningless encounters that don’t lead to a relationship. She’s content to avoid town and spend her time painting in her beachside cottage. But when her car breaks down and Kane shows up to help, they both get a lot more than they bargained for.
I was intrigued by this book’s cover, so I was glad to be able to read an advance copy. I thought it looked dark and suspenseful, but Kane and Halley’s story was surprisingly light and uplifting. They both had plenty of pain in their past and currently have their hands full, Kane with his gambling father and single-mom sister and her son, and Halley with ghosts from her foster care experiences and family surprises, so it isn’t an ideal time for a relationship. Plus the fact that Halley doesn’t do relationships.
Kane was such a wonderful hero! He knew what he wanted, but he was wise enough to cajole and entice Halley to his way of thinking, rather than laying it all out and scaring her off. Halley has only trusted two people in her life, her aunt and her sister, and she’s so afraid of letting anyone else get close, because anyone else who has gotten close has hurt her. But she wants something with Kane she has never wanted before, and she knows she’ll have to let go of her fear.
Fearless is a terrific start to a promising new series by a talented author. With an abundance of heat, a little humor and a ton of heart, this book is definitely worth a 1-Click. If you’re like me and enjoy a series of standalone romances, you’ll be eager to catch up with these characters in Phoebe’s story, Breathe.

Fearless is a terrific start to the new Rosewood Bay series! Kane Harmon runs the local garage in Rosewood Bay. He is pleasantly surprised to meet a very grown up and sexy old classmate, Halley Ward, when her car breaks down. He remembers her from high school and recognized the same sadness in her that he had been experiencing. He was her protector at that time and she was grateful. Now years later, he becomes her hero again. But she is happy to be reclusive, preferring to paint and avoid crowds and isn’t prepared for the sparks that fly between them. Kane has found her again, and he is determined to keep her in his life. He will do whatever it takes to make her his. But when the past comes between them, will Kanes protection be enough? This story touched on so many emotional and raw topics with honesty and empathy. I was moved by these flawed characters, I cared for them and cheered for their HEA. I really enjoyed this engaging, funny, steamy romance and am looking forward to the next book in this series.
What a fantastic way to start a new series! I love this book and if I didn’t have to sleep I would have read in one sitting. Love Kane and Halley so much! Kane is just, well he’s just everything!!Their chemistry is sizzling which makes for some sexy steamy scenes but it’s their connection outside of the bedroom that really won my heart! This is an emotional read at times, but mostly it’s a story about two people that have a lot more in common than they originally realize and how real and pure love can tear down even the strongest and highest walls of protection around your heart. Just Amazing!
I was excited to enter this new world that Ms. Phillips has created. Halley and Kane’s story really intrigued me. The book length itself is relatively short. Sometimes I feel like there was still so much story that could have been told, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this story had everything!
Kane show Halley again and again that he would be patient and wait for her to come to terms of her feelings for him. Halley was put into the system as a 3 year old and experienced the horrors of the foster system. She has always been extremely introverted and doesn’t let anyone in because she can’t be hurt then. When Kane begins to peal away her layers, she doesn’t know what to make of it. His patience and devotion to me, moved me.
I thought the story was well told and the emotional connection I had to Halley left me wanting more of her. I’m excited to see what Phoebe’s book brings!
***4 Stars***
Fearless kicks off a new series and I really enjoyed it. It was a fun, quick read that had just the right balance of humor, drama and smexyness to keep me turning the pages and intriguing characters that have me wanting the next book in the series right now!
I really liked Kane. He keeps an eye on his sister, nephew and father and runs the family business aka he is extremely responsible. He has a good soul and when he see’s something worthwhile, he’ll do what needs to be done to get it. Past experiences have made him view certain things in a less than stellar light, but he does his best to not make a final decision on anything until he has all the information.
Hayley. This woman. My heart bled for her and all that she had been through and yet, I really wanted to reach through my Kindle and shake some sense into her, or at least give her a not so gentle push in a direction where she could start to truly work through the demons of her past, because when she let go and forgot to keep people at arms length, she was a lot of fun and had so much to give others.
Kane and Hayley’s journey was all kinds of sweet and swoon worthy. I loved how Kane slipped under Hayley’s defenses. It was definitely sneaky, but done in such a way that showed how well he saw her. They definitely had their smexy moments and I loved them together. A huge pothole does appear in their journey and I’ll just say I was Team Kane the entire time, but everything worked out well and I really like where they are at when the book ends.
I really enjoyed Fearless and I finished it in no time flat. It was engaging and though there were some heavy issues brought up in it, they were handled very well. The supporting cast of characters were all well written and though I don’t have a clear favorite, I am definitely looking forward to Phoebe’s book, Breathe, and seeing how her own HEA plays out!

Emotional and bursting with sweetness, Fearless is a beautiful story that had me captivated from the very start. A pretty quick read for me, I devoured this book in a couple hours while flying through the pages complete hooked on Kane and Halley’s story. Flawlessly written, this is one of those books that you just cant put down once you start reading it.
Both Kane and Halley have baggage from their childhoods, but Halley is truly traumatized by hers. Quiet and shy, she keeps to her bubble of safety afraid to put herself out there. When Kane sees her again it’s all over, his gentle but determined persistence crumbled her walls while totally melting my heart. These two were just so sweet together. Their love is enough you can feel it coming right off the pages. I’m on the edge of my seat now, dying for the next book in this series.
Learning to live and love without fear
Every time I read a Carly Phillips book I’m reminded why I love her writing so much, and Fearless is no different. The start of a new series about a new family, we are introduced to the seaside town of Rosewood Bay and the Ward family. Three sisters, separated by horrible circumstances, it’s only Halley and Phoebe who have found each other again; and Fearless is Halley’s story.
I loved the immediate connection and shared past that Halley and Rosewood Bay’s resident mechanic Kane Harmon have. It was this that allowed Kane to breach some of Halley’s very high and fortified walls, and to see Kane do whatever he could to make himself a part of Halley’s life was beautiful. Carly has a way of giving her characters genuine, relatable and realistic back stories and both Kane and Halley have such intriguing stories that you can’t help but want to know more. And the family members from both the Ward’s and the Harmon’s are characters that I’m looking forward to discovering more about.
As I’ve come to expect from Carly’s novels, the relationship between the two main characters is heartfelt, the sexual chemistry is explosive and the complications …. well they are necessary evils. But this was the first book I’d read in a little while that I could barely put down – I made time to read it because Fearless is more than just a romance, it’s a story about believing in oneself, about finding love when you least expect it and about deciding whether a life lived in fear can truly make you happy.
Knowing we get more of Rosewood Bay and more of the Ward sisters has me smiling – because it also means more Carly Phillips and she has yet to write a book I haven’t loved!!

Fearless is the first book in the Rosewood Bay Series. I have now read a lot of Carly Phillips books and I love reading books from this author.
Fearless is Kane Harmon and Halley Ward’s story. It is a fairly fast book to read.
Halley has been “emotionally shut down” for a while now and she needs someone to bring her back to life. Kane not only rescues her when her car is broken down but, he has made it his mission to bring her back to life. Halley just needs to conquer her fears. Of course, this won’t be an easy job.
Does Kane succeed in bringing Halley back? I will let you decide. I enjoyed reading Fearless. Breathe will be the next book and will be Phoebe’s story. Phoebe is Halley’s sister and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Fearless is a well written story with great characters who have issues to deal with from their past. It’s about coming out of your shell, accepting who you are, learning to trust in others, and having the strength to be “Fearless” and fight for what makes you happy.
I truly enjoyed getting to know Halley and Kane, and watching their relationship evolve. I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Kane Harmon has dealt with his fair share of beautiful and wealthy women, every summer they roll into town, pick-up a local man for a few nights of fun, and then once summer comes to end, they leave town and act as though their time with him meant nothing. So, when his father tells him there is one stranded on the side of the road in need of a tow, he braces himself for the shameless flirty, and pick-up lines, and heads her direction, but the woman waiting for him isn’t quite who he expected. She maybe wealthy and beautiful, but this woman and he have a past, one that had him coming to her rescue time after time in school when their fellow students decided to be jerks to her. Looking at her now he can still see the same mysterious beauty, who use to steal the breath from his lungs, but now there is a sadness in her eyes that he is determined to wash away. Only she says she isn’t looking to date anyone, so he offers friendship instead, hoping it will help him work his way into her graces again. And maybe her heart too…
Halley Ward is somewhat of a recluse, only leaving her beach house when necessary, very seldom venturing out for a night on the town, for fear of crowds and men trying to pick her up. But with a showing at the local art house nearing she knows she needs to muster up the courage to venture into town and deliver her paintings for the show, only she doesn’t get to far due to her faulty fuel pump. Now she finds herself stuck on the side of the road, in the sweltering sun, and needing a tow… good thing there is a tow truck headed her way. Little does she that that tow truck is about to change her life in more ways then one… it holds a key to her past, and a man she use to crush on back in school. Question is will find the courage to act on said crush, or turn tide and run per her usual M.O.?
Fearless is a moving story, that will steal your heart, stir your thoughts, make you smile, and possibly shed a few tears. With it’s engaging, dramatic, and heartfelt story line I couldn’t help but get wrapped up in it, it was quite an addictive little tale. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting these wonderful characters and watching them find their forever, it was a beautiful thing to witness. I highly recommend this one, it’s a uplifting romance story that is sure to leave your heart overflowing!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and voluntarily read and reviewed.
From the first couple of chapters, I already knew Fearless was going to be a great read! I am super excited for the Rosewood Bay series as I fell for the characters and their spunk. We get introduced to one sexy mechanic, Kane. I knew he was going to steal a lot of hearts inside the book and out. He is unselfish and a huge care taker. Never wants anything to do with love until he is reacquainted with our lovely Ms. Halley!
You can say that they had a mixture of insta and slow burn love. Halley is very cautious and a creature of habit. Kane takes his time to worm his way into her heart. The past these two have are a bit damaged. But you can feel the healing when these two get together.
Fearless will make you gitty and shy all at once. There is heat in the sexiness level and a chemistry that is so combustible you will be squirming in your seats ladies!! I loved meeting Kane and Halley and excited to see what Phoebe’s story will bring!
WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! I was blown away by how much I loved Fearless, book one in Carly Phillips’ new Rosewood series. Halley and her sister were placed in separate foster care homes when they were three and six, taken from their drug addicted mother. Ten years after, their aunt discovered their existence and brought them home to live under her care. Halley was a loner, after her foster care experiences she was uncomfortable among crowds and felt unable to share her past and with another person. Car Mechanic Kane went to high school with Halley and even protected her from being bullied. When Kane came upon Halley on the side of the road he felt the return of the attraction he once had. He wanted to get to know Halley, inside and out, and get her to the point to trust him, open up to him, sharing her wounds, and begin a relationship together.
I felt so sad for Halley and all she had been through. It was no surprise that she was a loner and kept to herself. I loved the fact that she was able to express herself through her painting and understood her fear of not being enough for Kane. Kane was amazing, going slowly with Halley, knowing how hurt and fragile she was. He was the perfect match for Halley and I now have a new book boyfriend.
Ms. Phillips is a wonderful storyteller as demonstrated in this amazing story. I really enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting it down. This is a great book with plenty of angst, tugging at the heartstrings, romance and some sexy time. I highly recommend this book to other readers and am looking forward to the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
A wonderfully emotional story about a wounded woman who needed to overcome her insecurities and fears to take a chance on love. Halley had endured a lot in her life but she was still so sweet and good hearted. And Kade. He was a great hero. So patient and kind and so worthy of love too. Together they were combustible so Fearless became a sweet and very sexy read. I can’t wait to read about Halley’s sister, Phoebe in the next story in this series.
