I loved reading this book. It was emotional, heartwarming and so different in having the main hero wanting to know what’s wrong etc. Gallegos a damaged woman, reeling from being taken from her mom with her sister and thrown into foster care. After being taken from one because of lies of another kid she is placed into one with a couple where the father is a little weird and tries it on with her. Kane is a mechanic at the garage he works in and is called out for rescue Halley. They get to know each other and Halley trusts Kane enough to tell him a little of what she went through when she was younger.
This is where it got a little emotional for me thinking of what happened to Halley when in foster care and that no child should have to go through that. Thank goodness for her Aunt Joy. Taking both the girls in. As Kane and Halley grow closer, her mom comes back on the scene after Joy won’t give her money I suppose she thinks Halley is weak and will give her what she needs. She realises to late that her mom is no good and gets hurt in the process and pushes Kane away. Can Halley rationalise what her mother has done with her feeling for Kane and give her the happy future she deserves?
A fantastic piece of writing that had me intrigued with how it would play out from the start until the end. I can’t wait for Phoebe’s story to see how her life pans out.
Halley has been scarred by her childhood, being taken away from her mother and being shipped around the foster system. Kane lost his mother when he was a teenager and is living with a father who is addicted to gambling. When Kane goes out on a call to pick up a stranded driver, he reconnects with Halley whom he went to high school with. Kane helps Halley to move out of her comfort zone and teach her to trust and love. But when her mother comes back into her life, Halley’s trust and love are tested to the limits. Slow burn romance that is well written and flows well.
I really enjoy Carly Phillips books but I have to say that from book one, I think the Rosewood Bay series is going to be a favourite of mine.
I LOVED Fearless. It was a fab read, with great likable characters, a good supporting cast, an interesting storyline which meant that Carly had me hooked from the first page.
I was rooting for Kane and Halley from their very first meeting.
Both had issues, neither was looking for a relationship but they found each other. I liked that they got to know more, that their relationship developed kinda slowly and that that Kane never gave up on Halley, determined to draw her out of her comfort zone and back to living her life again.
Well written, with a good pace, low on overall angst, sweet and sexy and packed with loads of emotion. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and have no doubt it will be just as good as this one!
5 well deserved stars!!!
Fearless is a great contemporary romance by Carly Phillips. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Phillips has delivered a well-written book and furnished it with great characters. Kane is a mechanic with his own garage in Rosewood Bay. Halley is an almost recluse artist. Kane and Halley’s story is loaded with drama, bits of humor and sizzle. Halley is a bit angsty, but not so much to ruin the story. I enjoyed reading Fearless and look forward to reading more from Carly Phillips in the future. Fearless is book 1 of the Rosewood Bay Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
As with most Carly Phillips books, this one is a hit!
It is one of those you hate to put down.
Five stars!
I am a Carly Phillips fan and read everything she writes
Great storyline and loved Kane’s character and qualities as a man. Guys should read this book and learn something from his character.
Thoroughly loved it. I didn’t want to put it down.
I loved this book.
Halley & Kane have a history. One that goes back to the school days and misery. He was once her protector. Now Halley has found that she is very attracted to him as a man.
Kane remembers the sad Halley who had so much in common with him in their youth. He is surprised at how beautiful she has become. Even more, he finds himself wanting to spend more and more time with her. To just be near her.
Such a sweet and slow burn. This story finds two people with similar family issues, just trying to keep it together. The heat between them gets pretty hot.
