The day I truly started to live, I sentenced him to die.At twenty-four, I’d resigned myself to a simple life following in my mother’s footsteps. I would manage the antique shop she left me and marry a kind, stable man. Most importantly, I would never tell a soul about my psychic abilities. But with a single, intentional touch and a vision of the past, I set events in motion that expose my secret. … motion that expose my secret. I’m part of a world I never knew existed, and my new allies are dismantling my carefully constructed walls.
Except, those walls had a purpose–they kept me hidden.
Now, my abilities make me a target.
And my mere existence is endangering everyone I care about.
My name is Adele Rose, and I know nothing but regret.
Touch of Regret is the first book in a slow-burn reverse harem series.

What can I say, Adele goes through a roller coaster of emotions and I went along for the ride! With the help of Jem, Stowe, Noah, and even Jameson, she learns more about her past, her family, and her gifts. I hurt for Adele when we find out what really happens in the prologue. The story does end with a shocker, so hopefully we don’t have to wait long before book 2 🙂
What a great start to a series!! Autumn is one of the few authors I don’t really care what genre it is, paranormal, contemporary anything she wrires is absolute perfection!! I love the introduction to Adele and her quirks and gifts and her intro to a whole new world she never knew she needed, but it now looks like she can’t live without! Can’t wait to see what’s.in store for this group next!
Honestly, I hadn’t read the book before I listened to it on audio. I think that was actually a smart move on my part because I think Hayden did a good job bringing this story to life and helped bridge what others thought was a slow backstory. I enjoyed it to be honest, but I think the narrator actually helps with invigorating the characters and storyline.
Let me first talk about the story. I fell in love with Adele in this book! Also the guys are amazeballs and I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2 between Adele and her 3 guys. I am seriously in love with Stowe and Noah and have added them to my book boyfriend list . I kinda knew what was coming so I had to stop myself from listening to the end of the book on my way to work and during my lunch break in case I cried and I did tear up, so be warned haha. I am intrigued by the Collectors and what Adele is going to do to get her revenge. Also, her ex needs to stop and just be with the teacher haha. I wanted to be like duuuude move on!
Now for the narrator. I thought overall Hayden did a great job and I would listen to more audiobooks from her. My only critique that made me cringe were her overdramatization with the laughter. I really did not like how she would pause and super laugh and it felt so fake. If she cannot do that in the future audiobooks, I would definitely give her 5 stars. I thought the inflections and feelings were spot on for the storyline and character relationships. I really loved how she brought Adele to life and especially her relationship with her partner and her dad.
I definitely recommend this audiobook and book series! I can’t for book 2 to be out in a couple weeks I couldn’t wait to find out what happens in the story so I am already 50% through book 2 but I definitely will be getting book 2 when its available (to listen to before book 3 comes out hopefully this summer!
Adele has worn gloves since she a kid because skin to skin contact causes her to see the other person’s memories. Adele was always told by her mother to always keep her gift secret, never tell anyone, not even her father. Adele was torn, surprised, shocked even when a complete stranger came into her antique business and said she knew she was psychic.
I enjoyed this book and would say it’s good for ages 13 and up.
I like the different abilities her group of new friends have. The collectors are vile, evil people, but I like the introduction of them into the story.
Get ready for a cliffhanger because the author leaves it off at big one.
Truly a top notch novel, with a great group of interesting characters and an awesome storyline. The author really did a fantastic job of breathing life into these characters, to the point where you can’t help but feel for them. Seriously loved this story and am really looking forward to the next book
I’ve read ALL of Autumn Reed’s books but this one…. this one is completely different but still extraordinary!! This is her first step into PNR and she claimed a well deserved top spot in my favorite PNR reads.
The story is definitely slow burn but I can definitely feel that this series is gonna take us places that no other Author has taken us. The characters are superbly thought out and the storyline even better. The MC is a great mix of sassy and prim and proper. I loved reading every second of this book
This was such an amazing read. It’s a paranormal RH slow burn romance. The MC Adele wears gloves everywhere she goes because of her psychic abilities. When she touches someone she sees a memory that they feel strongly about. Now she’s uncovered a new gift and that has lead her down a path filled with danger, grief, questions about her childhood and handful of new friends. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Condensed version of my thoughts:
Buy this book. Read this book. Keep tissues nearby and start a riot for book two.
I loved this start of a new series!! The story and background is so interesting! I was completely immersed in learning everything. Adele is fantastic and I can’t wait to see her grow into herself as she learns more about her abilities! I love the new crew she meets up with! Jem is fantastic and I can see her building a deep friendship with her. Stowe is a big teddy bear and I have fallen in love with him! I ca t wait for him to trust in his powers! Noah is such a gentle creature. Jameson…wow! He is just something else! I really want to get inside his head! I can’t wait for the next book! Loved it!
Adele Rose lives a quiet life. She lives with her father, manages an antique shop, and dates a nice guy. She appears to have a slightly quirky fashion sense but it’s actually an effort to shield herself from her psychic ability. When Adele touches a person she sees a memory through their eyes; the more emotion the person feels, the stronger the memory. So she wears gloves. Imagine if you saw your ex-boyfriend’s other sexual exploits when you touch him; you too would have a glove collection that could put a specialty shop to shame. She has always managed to control this ability until her curiosity gets the better of her one day and she decides to try out her ability on an object instead of a person. With a single, intentional touch, Adele gets a vision of the past and sets events in motion that change everything. She’s part of a psychic world she never knew existed and there’s more to her than she could have ever guessed. She quickly gains new friends and new enemies. Her secrecy was offering her protection she never knew she needed. Now that she’s exposed, she’s not the only one at risk.
Touch of Regret is a wonderful beginning book to Autumn Reed’s new “The Collectors” series. It’s well thought out and intelligently written. Adele immediately won my love. I see her as a romantic heroine, reminiscent of a nostalgic lady from great novels in the past. Her sense of style, her sense of resignation to her ‘touching situation’, and her sense of loneliness appeal to me. So obviously, when she meets people she can be honest with, be accepted by, and become friends with I was thrilled. Jem is my ideal bestie full of energy and a bit of mischievousness. She is exactly what Adele needs to remember that life should be more than responsibilities. Noah is such a contradiction, strength, and fragility wrapped up in one man. His way with words makes me swoon. Jameson has walls with shields and then more walls but the glimpses we get of him are everything. Stowe is huge, strong, protective, and lovable with a streak of insecurity. Definitely my favorite. The assorted side characters, good and bad, are all notable and nicely developed.
This story captures you. The suspense, the betrayals, the surprises, the very real danger all keep you on the edge of your seat. The tension and stakes build with each page. Then it ends. Honestly, I swiped my Kindle page at least three times trying to get to the next page. Then I screamed. Warning: it has a cruel cliffhanger. I love a good cliffhanger; makes me crave the next book immediately. This one made me want to hunt down the author and force her to tell me what happens next. Forget about waiting for the next book, I need to know now!
