Falling in love with Gabe Anderson was as easy as breathing. Fighting my feelings for my brother’s best friend was agonizingly hard. I never imagined giving in to my desire for him would cause such a destructive ripple effect. That kiss was my grasp at a lifeline—something, anything to hold me steady in my crumbling life. Now, I have to suffer with the fallout while trying to convince him it’s … all worth the consequences.
Guilt overwhelms me—over what I’ve done, the lives I’ve taken, and more than anything, over my feelings for Skye Hawke. Craving my best friend’s little sister is insanely self-destructive. It never should have happened, but since the moment she kissed me, I haven’t been able to get her out of my mind. If I take what I want, I risk losing everything. If I don’t, I’ll lose her and a piece of myself. The raging storm threatening to rain down on the city is nothing compared to the one that will come from my decision.
Love can be torture, but sometimes, love is the only thing that can save you.

I would have paid any price. This book was better than the first one for me. The forbidden element just made it a must-have. Plus when your brothers best friend is super hot isn’t it just a given… There has to be a rule somewhere.

5 Stars
Tortured Skye is the second book in the Hawke Family Novels Series by the supremely talented Gwyn McNamee. It is a very spicy and erotic contemporary romance that will tantalise you from the very first page and hold you enthralled right till the end.
Skye Hawke comes across as snarky, sassy, hot-headed, independent and a little on the stubborn side- but most of that is a façade she puts up to hide her pain and vulnerability. You see, Skye has endured a heartache that most people could never fathom and more often than not it takes all her energy to just get through each day. She harbours a lot of guilt for what transpired and living with this regret is slowly devouring her soul, piece by piece. Then in walks the man she’s felt a powerful connection to for so long now. The man she has had a crush on since she was a teenager. But then he leaves her feeling the sting of rejection. She has avoided him ever since, but how long can that last. After all he is her brother’s best friend and an honorary member of their family.
Gabe Anderson has his own demons that haunt his days and torture his nights. He doesn’t do commitment, just a lot of hooking-up. He has always been closer to the Hawke’s, than his own family and values his friendship with Savage. Gabe has always felt a strong bond between himself and Skye. But he feels that he would be risking everything- completely jeopardising his relationship with Savage, as well as his job and his heart – if he were to get involved with Skye. He also feels that because of his demons, he isn’t worthy of her but doesn’t know if he’ll be able to resist her.
With other factors at play in this story, as well- Ms. McNamee masterfully wove a story that absorbed me to a point where reality ceased to exist. I would love to tell you more, but I wouldn’t want to spoil it for you- so please do yourself a favour and discover the wonderful world of the Hawkes for yourself- you really won’t be disappointed.
Even though we met Skye in the first book, we didn’t really get to know her very well. I had decided that I didn’t really like her very much- but since getting to understand her more from this story, I really have come to appreciate her and think that she and Gabe really are a perfect match. I loved Gabe from the moment he is introduced in the first book, he intrigued me and I wanted to know more about him. This book gave me all the answers I was looking for, plus some.
Ms. McNamee has a real talent for writing with emotion and the ability to connect her readers to the story and characters. I felt for Skye and Gabe and everything they’d been through- and I was with them every step of the way as this story transpires….. There’s so much emotion that at times Ms. McNamee had me free-falling through the spectrum of feeling, like a base jumper chasing an adrenalin high. Wow, what a ride!
One thing Ms. McNamee seems to be able to do better than most, is a raunchy, spine tingling, knee tremblingly HOT sex scene- and this story sure doesn’t disappoint. You have been warned, spare panties will be required!
I have said it before and I say it again, Gwyn McNamee should be on everyone’s MUST READ list- her books really ARE that good. She has found her place on my favourite author list and I can’t wait to devour her next book.
Thank you, Gwyn McNamee!
I could not wait to read this book, but the wait was well worth it. Tortured Skye is unbelievably amazing! I loved reading about Gabe and Skye, and the path that they had to go on to get to their ending. Their path was not an easy, straight one; they had big obstacles, diversions and roadblocks all to contend with. Though the biggest road block for these two was Gabe himself. I’m so glad that everything turned out amazing for these two and that they got their HEA. That these two were able to save each other from their own demons. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Hawke Series.
I loved this book. Like the first one I was up late reading it because I couldn’t put it down. Another great book by Gwyn McNamee. I can’t wait until the next one comes out.
This book was really good! Skye has been in love with her brother’s best friend Gabe forever. He can’t get past the idea of being with someone who he considers his little sister. We get a story full of angst and sorrow but we also get moments of profound happiness!
We got to visit with returning characters and that was a treat.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done!
I must admit I’ve had Savage Collision on my kindle and I never found time to read it. When I saw a post for an ARC of Tortured Skye I jumped on it. Then I immediately read Savage Collision and I definitely recommend you read it first to better understand Gabe and Skye. Skye has been in love with Gabe since she was a teenager. Gabe fought his feelings for Skye. He is her brother’s best friend and he doesn’t want to mess up that relationship. These two go through so many ups and downs and they really had me on an emotional roller-coaster. Will Skye and Gabe get their HEA or will he break her heart in the end? This is a great story with depth and I truly loved Gabe and Skye’s story. I cannot wait to read Gwyn’s next book.
I thought “Savage Collision” was great, but “Tortured Skye” was one amazing read! The author definitely continued with the great character and plot development which had me in total awe with each page that I turned! However, the chemistry between Skye and Gabe was off the charts hot which kept me totally mesmerized until the very last page was turned!
Don’t burn the cookies 😉
What happens when you fall for the one person you know you shouldn’t? Torture!
Strap in and get ready for another Hawke family journey with another one of the Hawke family members.
From wanting to Cuddle Gabe and love him hard, to wanting to throttle Skye for her attitude, this book gives you all the best of an angst driven, forbidden love story.
Enjoy the ride. I know I did.

I can’t imagine living someone but not going after them. To fear that your relationship would end friendships. So many different emotions you have to process just o find your happiness. Skye has lost someone close to her heart and cures herself with liquor. Gabe is running from nightmare and doesn’t want to ruin lives. But this feeling he has won’t go away even when he gets what he wants. This story captures you by giving you that guy who will do anything for the girl. The story as capture you by telling you about the girl who just needs something more to get out of the dark.
Tortured Skye: A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee
5+++++ Stars
It has been awhile since I read Savage Collision and I’ll admit I kinda forgot just how much I love this author and her books, and how I absolutely couldn’t wait for the next in the Hawke Series. I loved Skyes story and everything that went with it. This author knows how to hook you on page 1 and literally won’t let you go even after you finish and that’s because she lets you in just a bit on what is coming next and thankfully I have the next sitting here waiting for me to start.
I love this family and those that are part of it even if they aren’t, like Gabe, who has been a part of the family for over 20 years and Savage’s best friend, which is why wanting Savage’s little sister is such a bad idea, especially when he is dealing with so many ghosts haunting him from his past.
Skye Hawke, Savage’s little sister who has tried very hard to push everyone away and cant seem to get over the loss of her twin sister. She threw herself at Gabe at Savage and Dani’s wedding and was rejected and knows that pursuing him will do nothing but cause problems within the family, but can she help herself?
I loved this story, and this family…I have become emotionally invested in all of them and love how this author can throw in some twists that you don’t see coming. This was an off the charts hot yet emotional read and I can not wait to dive in to Stone’s story.
Highly recommend, but don’t read these out of order, they all tie together and you really need all the pieces to fit!
Loved It!!
Tortured Skye is book two in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. As I expected, these stories just seem to get better, with each story as unique and perfect as the one before it. It is really hard getting back to reality after reading a Gwyn McNamee story. I read with my emotions, so these stories just get to me on a whole different level, which is rare and so precious to me. They really are the ultimate escape to paradise.
Skye and Gabe are a couple that intrigue me. Skye loved Gabe for a long time, and Gabe felt he had no business having these deeply ingrained feelings for Skye. But no one can fight the inevitable. Their attraction is deep. Their attraction erotic and endless. The way they handle their sizzling chemistry will leave you breathless. The dynamic between the two is the most arousing. Their very essence drew me in and had me a bundle of nerves, as I i never quite knew what they would throw out next. It was a gift to read their exciting and boldly dramatic tale.
The further I get into this series, the more bittersweet it is. I cannot wait to read all the stories, but at the same time, never want to reach the end. I don’t want this crazy ride to ever end. I am in a constant state of delirious joy at revealing each character and the story the have to tell. It becomes an addiction that gets satisfied but I am still endlessly curious as to what happens next. Always a pleasure reading this author’s work. 5 stars.
Tortured Skye (Hawke Family Novels) is the second book in the series by Gwyn McNamee and is an erotic contemporary romance that will set you on fire. I love anything Gwyn writes and the Hawke Family series is fast becoming one of my favourites. The emotions that Gwyn instills in her stories has the ability to grab you from the very first page and keeps you titillated right until the very last word.
Skye Hawke has lost one half of herself and is still trying to comes to terms with it by hiding her pain behind her stubborn and hot headedness and down right rudeness. She also has a secret, a secret she has had since she was sixteen years old.
Gabe Anderson doesn’t do commitment, but now that he has noticed his best friends little sister is no longer little, he has more to lose which ever way he turns. Love the woman and lose the best friend or keep the best friend and lose the woman.
Gwyn McNamee is a must on everyone’s to READ list. I can’t wait to demolish her next book.
Tortured Skye by Gwen McNamee a breath-taking five-star read. This is the second book in the Hawke family series. It follows on from Savage Collision, a book that when I get asked for a book recommendation no matter the genre they read I tell them that Savage Collision is a must read, I now have two to go on about. I get asked all the time for recommendations and very rarely will I recommend a book, I love reading, and I enjoy most books so found it hard to decide on one, until this series.
Skye Hawke was devastated four years ago, along with the rest of her family, a family that includes her brothers best friend Gabe Anderson who has always been a part of her life, and a member of the family. After what happens none of them will ever be the same again. Skye has been working hard as a nurse practitioner at a small clinic attached to a larger hospital that her friend with benefits Lucas works at, a way to work out the stress she is dealing with on a daily basis, at least that’s the way she sees it. Sky sees this as the only type of relationship she can have, as she can’t have the man she has wanted for the last 12 years, Gabe. One fateful kiss at a wedding is all she can have with him. Despite how hard she tries to change his mind.
Gabe Anderson feels many things, guilt being the most overwhelming. Guilt of wanting his best friend’s little sister, guilt of killing people as a soldier and protecting those he loves. Guilt if not being able to be there for the oncoming storm, and not just the hurricane that’s about to make land. Will Gabe be able to accept the consequences if he decides he can’t live his life without Skye? will love conquer all? Or will they decide it’s not worth the fight and torture they will face?
I can’t wait for Stone sober the third book in the Hawke Family series cannot come quickly enough for me. If its half as good as the first two books in the series I will be amazing. Gwen McNamee is a great writer, it’s not just the content that she writes, it’s how she writes it, she has a unique talent to write character’s that you want in your life, and people who you miss when they aren’t around anymore, the interactions between people are also very realistic and true. You need this book and this series in your life.
*STOP* Even though this is a standalone if you have not read Savage Collision yet, go back and read it first. You’ll have a better understanding of this book and the characters.
I thought I couldn’t love anyone more than I loved Savage. I was so wrong I love Gabe just as much if not more.
Gabe wants to be loyal to his best friend but you can’t help who you love and who your heart wants. For Gabe it was Skye who happens to be his best friends little sister.
If you ask me Savage was being a little selfish. He got to love and marry who he wanted to. Why was he the only one allowed to be happy. He really pissed me off.
Skye was so persistent. I loved her. You could kick her while she was down and she would come back up fighting.
I love this book and would recommend reading it.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
