“A word of advice, be careful what you’re looking into.” But I didn’t listen.I went after the target that had become my obsession – Logan Cane. He was the weak link. My way to finally serve the justice my father laid on me to finish. Except, nothing about Logan was weak, and instead, he shattered me. It was too late to stop or deny what was happening. I was supposed to hate them all, him included. hate them all, him included.
But my grief burned into need.
And the need turned my world inside out.
“Don’t try running.”
That’s what I said to her. I meant it. There wasn’t any escape, no redemption either. You cross any Cane and you will feel the full force of what that means. I hurt – she hurts. Simple.
Bryce McCarthy got herself neck-deep in my business and made the mistake of thinking she knew what she was doing. She didn’t, and because of her everything went all kinds of wrong.
Maybe she’ll survive my twisted wrath. Maybe she won’t.
Either way, we’ve both got a debt to pay.
And she’s paying hers first.
Guilt. Obsession. Dark. Erotic. Romance
more
So this one’s gonna be a smidge, vague folks.
Here we have the final instalment in the thrilling Cane saga and what a journey this has turned out to be.
I highly recommend this unpredictable rollercoaster and though this can certainly be read as a standalone to get full impact and enjoyment here I really do suggest you start where this all began with Quin and Emily back in Innocent eyes.
So this is a fitting adieu to the crazy train that is this series.
It was such an emotional rollercoaster and I was gripped right until the bitter end.
Dark and with triggers this at times made uncomfortable reading but bloody hell it was unpredictable and so very unique not at all what I was actually expecting but that only made this so much better the sheer singularity of the narrative and its uncontrollable variables.
Logan well he was nothing like I had ever imagined him being the bitterness and envy actually corroding him from the inside out sending him down a path of no return and Bryce who is caught in the fallout ended up suffering his full wrath which at times was definitely not pretty.
This was edge of your seat stuff all the way and my nerves are actually shot to pieces.
I laughed, I cried, I prayed and then cried some more, this story emotionally gutted me spitting me out and then picking me right back up to carry on it was just so bloody intense and I felt like I’ve been through an actual wringer.
When things go sideways with this the resulting fallout was bloody epic.
And finally that epilogue, I adored it just so much it was the absolute icing for me.
I’m so sad to be leaving this series behind but also equally content just to have the closure this also brought forth.
It’s been a blast and this unconventional love story is a fitting note to go out on.
This is a series that is up there with my favourite ever and if you like it dark twisty and gritty this is definitely one for you.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Tortured Eyes (Cane, #5),

Can’t wait to be in the middle of a Cane vs Cane fight
I love that despite everything that was going off in this scene she was still slightly amused about it all.
So there is a death in this story, I won’t say who died but I didn’t expect it and it destroyed my bloody heart and everyone who was affected they all broke my heart. I so didn’t expect it and then everything that came after I was so conflicted about especially Logan torturing Bryce because she instigated the situation but didn’t actually put the bullet in said person that died. But this death destroyed me and I’m still not over it. I expected a happily ever after for that person that died.

Talk about opposites attracting! Logan is an embittered man, a little bit misguided, but determined to show he is just as powerful and capable. I felt his pain, and only wanted him to find some semblance of happiness. Bryce was honor bound to finish the work her father had started, but what do you do when you start to fall for the man you’believe is guilty as sin? This was an amazing story full of heartbreak, of hurt, and of love, but also one of redemption. I loved it so hard! And Samuel… I adored him, and his character was perfect!
Tortured Eyes is NOT a typical romance story. This is a tortured story between two main characters and a third that sits on the sidelines with a hand in the game. Do not expect an instant love story with two people that fall in love and everything is happy. Oh heck no. This is a story that will ripe your heart out a couple of different ways and then maybe put it back together if you wait it out and finish this story.
Tortured Eyes will put you through the wringer emotionally, make you mad, sad, horny, mad again, confused, and eventually with all of these emotions running through you because of Logan, Bryce, the Cane family, and Samual you have to wonder who is going to win out the fight. This book is the book you have to read.
Tortured Eyes is the 5th and last book in the Cane Series. It all began with Quinn Cane in Innocent Eyes. So each of these books can be read as a standalone but I suggest going back to the beginning so you will know all these stories!
Bravo, Bravo to these two authors!!! You have never let this series get dull! I read Tortured Eyes in one go. There are some surprises and some emotional parts that had me tearing up.
This is Logan Cane and Bryce McCarthy’s story. Logan is Quinn Cane’s youngest son. I so, badly want to say a lot in this review but I won’t but man I really want to say that I was so surprised. But enough said.
There are also some triggers here so be careful when selecting this book. There are some wow moments that I did not see coming. There’s some bang bang shoot ‘em up scenes. This book has it all!
I don’t want Tortured Eyes to be the last book. I really want more!!! This was such a good book!!! It does look like there will be a spin off coming for which I am so thankful for. These two authors need to continue to write together because their book is off the charts GOOD! 5+ STARS and I would give it more if I could!
Wow what a emotional ride throughout this book. The ending of amazing story that is full of tears and joy. This story will tear you apart and put you back together with the emotional edge of your seat ride.
The youngest Cane brother gets his story in this thrilling conclusion and it can be read as a standalone. However, as someone who read this book first, I highly recommend reading this series from the beginning and that is exactly what I am going to go back and do. Logan is a mafia son with a deeply tormented soul who is unpredictable at best. He is the one you cannot help but want to give a good swift kick to the rear and hug at the same time in the hope that it will change him. Bryce is a police officer, bent on following her father’s footsteps by solving his open cases investigating the Cane family. I am keeping this short as it is one storyline that must be read! It is filled with drama, twists and turns, violence, angst, and above all revenge. These two authors definitely know how to bring out the emotions that will have readers running the gamut from laughter to crying with a lot more in between. One can equate it to going through laundry cycles that leaves you spinning until the end. If you like reading dark mafia books, then this is one you do not want to miss. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
And that’s a wrap!
I mistakenly thought Innocent Eyes was the end, but thankfully I was wrong. Logan Cane demanded his story with all the bad boy brass possible. Logan is everything desirable bottled up in a gorgeous devil who takes what he wants from everyone and lives close to the edge. Logan was born a Cane, but learned to rule the streets from Vico. Vico left Logan the keys to his world which included the feisty red head, Bryce McCarthy, who can’t stay on her side of the law.
Bryce can’t shake the unsolved cases from her father. Will Finding out more about her father and the Cane family be her undoing or destiny? Either way, Logan makes her pay for what she started.
And then add in the calming presence of Father Samuel Cleary and there is no turning back. These three have a ton of secrets no one dares to test without serious consequences.
There were times I wanted to slap the crap out of all the characters in the “Moonstruck” snap out of it fashion. Who does this shit and gets away with it?
But this writing had me hooked and I couldn’t help being sucked in to the crushing, emotional volley chapter by chapter. Such a thrill! I loved every damn twisted scenario.
I’ve held off writing this review because I was truly left speechless when I finished. First off, what a way to end the series ladies, it was true brilliance. I don’t think I’ve have ever felt as much emotion from reading a book as I did with this one, this series actually. I am sad the Cane boys/men world has ended but I loved every step of the way.
Bittersweet!! That’s the emotion aside from the tears that i want to shed over this book. Logan in Forbidden eyes was a character I hadn’t much use for, but man oh man. This character in this book has opened my heart for him.
This is a different Cane generation, but with those same hard Cane features that made the original. It was like seeing old friends but watching as a new generation came full circle. There are a few revelations in this book and some come very early on and man i certainly wasn’t ready for them, not by a long shot.
I have to say that the authors really pulled this one out of the hat, and this book will certainly sty with the reader a long time after finishing, and make them want to start with book 1, if they haven’t read from the beginning
Tortured Eyes by Charlotte E Hart and Rachel De Lune is book 5 in Cane Series. This is the story of Bryce McCarthy and Logan Cane. I have read the previous books which of course added to my enjoyment and understanding of this book. It was a great series so just for that I would recommend it but if you want to make this a standalone book you could. This book covers the youngest son of Quinn Cane who wishes to seek to get back at those who have wronged them. One of those people is Bryce. Bryce is a detective who wants to finish her fathers criminal investigation in to the Canes. Both are meant to hate and bring the other down but they are at the same time attracted to the other which they both try to fight. This series is a dark one with some possible triggers for those who have issues with dark reads. For me this was a page turning book just like the series!
Fantastic but bittersweet conclusion to the most brilliant of series, I’ve loved everything about it and this was the perfect ending even though I’m sad to be saying goodbye to The Canes. I loved this book from beginning to end!
Logan and Bryce are polar opposites, she’s the good cop to his bad mafiaso, but as their paths collide and their attraction and chemistry becomes undeniable, you see they aren’t so different after all. Closed off emotionally and angry, wow can they produce fire together! How can something so wrong, feel so right? A feeling they both fight with all their might.
The romance side had a surprising taboo twist to it, one I never imagined and didn’t see coming, but absolutely loved. It gave a whole new dynamic to faith, love and trust and led to some wonderful angst ridden inner monologues from both Logan and Bryce. They needed a glue, the voice of reason and they definitely found it!
To be honest, I hadn’t like Logan so much in the previous book, but like his father Quinn, he won me over as his layers were pealed away. Bryce was a fabulous character, strong but vulnerable, determined and resolute in her convictions, until her world crumbled apart.
Tortured Eyes was dark, violent, aggressive at times with such strong emotion throughout…..guilt, anger, hurt, grief, as well as red hot inescapable passion and a very fine line between love and hate. Family feuds, surprising truths and forgiveness, law against the lawless, this book had it all and the authors didnt hold back, exactly what I love in a dark read. These two write so well together, I cant wait for what comes next.
5 hot, delicious dark stars
Tortured Eyes is by far my favourite read of 2020 and any book will be hard-pressed to kick it off its pedestal. The angst and pain I felt along the journey to happiness literally stung my chest as I struggled to breathe. Dark romance/mafia lovers should devour this book and the whole series. Authors Charlotte Hart and Rachel De Lune have left no stone unturned. They have laid it all out in the most emotional way possible.
Seeing a series come to an end and saying goodbye to beloved characters after following their journey through several books is usually bitter-sweet. In the case of Tortured Eyes, I was not prepared. No other book has evoked such emotion for me. Never before have I had to put a book down and absorb what I’ve read, taking time to come to terms with the curveball the authors have thrown.
I fell in love with the Cane Brothers series from the very beginning and this series has followed the Cane brothers and the next generation through turmoil, family tragedy, a fight for power, the fight for love, all for the good of the streets of Chicago and New York.
Tortured Eyes finally gives us an in-depth look at Logan Cane; his struggle with acceptance and his rise to power over the drug cartels. Logan is the son of patriarch Quinn Cane and turns out he is basically a chip off the old block. Both men seal away their emotions finding it best to stay stoic than reveal any weakness.
Tortured Eyes brings Logan full-circle, showing him that light and goodness does exist, even for people who are not worthy. Hart and De Lune have outdone themselves in this very passionate, heart-wrenching tale. Although I would not have agreed while reading due to the amount of tears running from eyes and blurring the pages, they have done an amazing job closing out this series and I am very saddened to see it end.
t’s finally here! Logan Cane gets his own story. Baby Cane is all grown up and in the latest book by Charlotte Hart and Rachel De Lune, Tortured Eyes, we get to read all about the lonely tormented soul known as Logan Cane. Oh My God! Is this man in need of a good a*$ whipping and then a big hug! Hart and De Lune are an incredible writing duo and their books are phenomenal. Lots of angst and drama, lots of violence and sex and all with some incredible twists and turns. 5-stars for another great Cane novel Tortured Eyes by Charlotte Hart and Rachel De Lune.
Bryce McCarthy has vowed to complete what her father didn’t get to finish while on the force. She is going to single handedly take down the Cane Empire and her ticket in is Logan Cane. Logan Cane is the black sheep of the family at least in his own Tortured Eyes. When tragedy strikes close to home, Logan seeks revenge on those, he feels are responsible and he’s willing to start with the smart mouth, red head that he can’t help but be attracted to. Is it even worth Logan’s efforts to show Bryce that even though he is a criminal his methods actual help keep the streets of Chicago safer? Can something good ever come from something so bad? Logan and Bryce are forced together, and the physical attraction eventually becomes more but can such a tortured criminal really know how to love?
I’ve taken my time reading this as I really did not want this series to end, I’m sad to say goodbye to characters that I love so very much.
There are so many things I want to tell you all about this book but I can’t, simply because I do not want to give anything away.
What I can tell you is how much I love Logan, he is quite frankly not a nice man and I found myself terrified of him yet at the same time lusting after his dark sexiness. Yes I have loved all the leading men in this series but Logan has topped them all.
The story is beautifully paced with all the twists and turns I expect from these authors. Yes you could read this book as a stand-alone, or as a follow up to Forbidden Eyes but in my opinion to understand the characters I really recommend you read the whole series in order, trust me it’s totally worth it and I will give you such an insight into the Cane family.
This book/series is absolute dark perfection in my opinion and if you love a good dark romance then these authors deliver every time without fail!

What a finale to one of most incredible book series I have read. I opened my Kindle at the first page having taken a deep breath, knowing that this would be the last time I would be able to experience reading a book in The Cane series without it being a re-read. I could have stayed up all night reading, but as much as I want to devour this story in one sitting, I also wanted to savour it…… which I did.
Guilt, anger, hate, grief and revenge. Desire, passion, determination, strength and love. Such strong qualities and emotions that can be found in every single chapter of this incredible story. I should have known to be prepared to hit the ground running from the very first page having previously read many books written by both authors. I guess I thought that I would have time to fasten my safety restraint as I boarded what I knew would be an emotional roller-coaster ride. However, I didn’t and I was barely able to hang on to my emotions. It has been a ride that I have at times needed to step away from in order to gather my thoughts and control the emotions within me. It was also a ride that I didn’t ever want to disembark. I am certain you will love this whole Cane series journey just as much as I have and I have a feeling that you will also shed a few tears once you close the final page of Tortured Eyes.
Logan Cane is the youngest son of Quinn Cane and he is most certainly a chip off the old block. Over the series we have seen Quinn, Nate and Carter change the direction of the Cane dynasty from one of mafia dealings and violence whilst keeping the respect that the Cane name confers. When Logan turns away from his family it is New York mafia boss and former adversary to the Canes, Benjamin Vico who he turns to, who then takes him under his wing. I would like to remind you that Vico runs New York in traditional mafia style and Logan is a Vico in all but name and that cannot be ignored. Logan is dangerous and controlling. He has a job to do in New York and he does it well. I absolutely loved observing Logan throughout the book. He intrigued me. He has his secrets and reasons that influence his decisions and actions and as the story unfolds you learn more about Logan which enables you to understand the man behind the name.
Bryce McCarthy is strong, determined, hardworking and has attitude and anger that is likely to get her into serious trouble. She is the ‘good’ to Logan’s ‘bad’ and I absolutely loved her. Bryce’s profession and good character is what makes any relationship with Logan inconceivable. Their two separate worlds cannot possibly unify, but they have a connection plus there is chemistry between them which is hard for them to ignore. There are more obstacles standing in their way of being able to be together than a military assault course, which makes witnessing their journey exciting and unpredictable…. and I loved this!!
Whether it be Cane Vs Cane or Cane alongside Cane, this book is so jam packed with action that you will be sitting on the edge of your seat desperate to know what is going to happen next. I’ve absolutely loved spending the last couple of years with Quinn, Nate, Vico, Carter and Logan and let’s not to forget Emily, Gabby, Hope, Fia and Bryce. All are remarkable characters in their own right and spending this weekend reading Tortured Eyes has reminded me exactly why this series is a favourite of mine.
