In the blink of an eye, the small Texas town of Harper Springs is flattened by the worst tornadic system to ever hit the area. Homes are demolished, trees are uprooted, and people are left for dead.
Taking cover in a cellar with his son, Ryan Gibson narrowly escapes the storm and gets separated from his wife. He hopes that help will come fast – his child is severely injured and the crippling … crippling weather pattern rages on, making them pawns in Mother Nature’s game.
Weeks pass with no sign of another human being. Tornadoes continue to hammer away at the already ravished land. Ryan wonders why they have been forgotten. Basic survival skills set in – their food rations get smaller, their water intake less, and their limited resources will soon be gone. With his son’s fading health and his wife still missing, he will have to make a decision soon – leave their shelter and risk death, or stay patient and hold out hope that a rescue team is on the way.
A harsh truth will soon be revealed – the tranquil way of life in Harper Springs will never be the same.

Good series I had first free then orders others
Read the whole series
Didn’t finish. Just couldn’t get into it!
All I can say is wow. Unfortunately, when that sort of thing happens, so many just seem to take everything from everyone else without even asking. A very bad time to go through.
This book was just kinda ‘OK’. The basic plot line was fairly interesting, but I never felt a lot of emotional attachment to any of the characters. And there were a couple of ‘head scratching’ moments in the book where I wasn’t sure if I understood what exactly was going on. And, believe me, I went back and re-read the passages in question to make sure I wasn’t just losing my mind. Worst of all, perhaps, the ending felt really rushed.
I enjoyed this book a lot and bought the next two also.
The characters showed a good aspect of people and also a bad side in a tragic event, fast paced book, easy to read
Gripping from the very beginning. Excellent real life adventure
love end of world books, this was a good one, want to read more of this author
This book gives us a glimpse of what live could be like if our weather keeps getting more extreme as time goes on. It shows what one man is willing to go thru to save his family.
Ever fearful now of the climate changing every year, this is a scary prophesy
Couldn’t put it down. Want to continue the series
very thought out characters
Scary to think that this could actually happen. I could see the dilemma of the characters as they had to make life decisions. Very realistic in that there are always people ready to get ahead at your expense. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could all work towards the common good? I would have preferred a little more detail in some parts of the story. Such as what really could have caused the son’s injuries to such a degree when the father was sheltered over him and did not receive any injuries at all. All in all a good story, look forward to the sequel.
Loved it, couldn’t put it down which made for a quick book! Sad to see it ended
Few mistakes that need to be corrected and I didn’t care for the ending, but an easy read and I liked it.
Not usually my genre, but enjoyed the book. Choosing not to continue series tho’
Scary but interesting series of books. Didn’t go far enough after third book in series. Good read though.
I enjoyed the story and the action….not so much the preaching about global warming.
Ok, kinda unbelievable in places, but if you think no of it as sci-fi/fantasy then it’s ok
