The Ardaks had turned Tordan and his men into cyborgs and control them with the chip in the back of their head. He realized he wasn’t being controlled and had flashes of memory of what occurred before the Ardaks arrived. There was an Elven prisoner that he was highly drawn to. She was being tortured to find out how to enter the Elven Kingdom. General Slash finally decided to have her killed and Tordan was rescued her. This is a well written book and a good read. It is the first book of the series entitled the Ardak Chronicles and I look forward to reading the rest of the books…
Same plot taking over a planet that has material you need to take over the universe. Very exciting book though. I liked the way that seeing Aielle finely over rode the chip in Tordan head. He still can’t remember most of what happened before they put the chip in. He does remember everything after though. He uses it to his advantage also. A lot of running, hiding and trying to find allies to help. Don’t like the ending but I hope the next book comes out fast. I need to see what happened. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Love a book with plot twists, action, aliens and strong well developed characters. The author has done a fantastic job world building and the storyline moves at a consistent pace.
I totally devoured this book! The storyline sucked me at the beginning and kept me captive until the end. I cannot wait to see what’s next!
This story melds elements from several different genres. A planet that seems to fit many fantasy tropes with various beings including magical elves is invaded by a vicious alien species in order to steal crystals that fuel both the magic and the technology. A cyborg, created and mind controlled by the enemy strives to break their hold and free his planet along with an elf who has been broken by the alien’s torture and lost her magic.
There is a forbidden love/fated mates type romance that slowly builds between these two, including a couple short but steamy scenes. However, most of the story focuses more on their escape from the aliens and the inter-societal politics and secrets uncovered along the way. The alien enemy is rather flat – we know they are ruthless, but not more about them. The planetary societies seem to be more primitive technologically speaking.
This is the first book in a series and ends in a happy for now with one immediate crisis averted, but lots more story to come. I was pleasantly surprised by the action and adventure in this story. While far from military sci-fi, I think this would appeal to readers looking for epic adventure more than a relationship driven drama. It is a very fast read with chapters that end in spots that make you want to read just one more to see what happens.
I couldn’t put this book down. Aielle, an elf, has been captured by the Ardaks who have conquered their world and taken most of the neighbours of the elven people captive and turned them into cyborg warriors with no emotion with no hesitation to follow orders. Only when Tordan sees Aielle for the first time he starts having feelings and he is drawn to her in a way he cannot understand. When the Ardaks realise they will not break Aielle and get the information they are looking for they mark her for death. Tordan realises he cannot allow that to happen and helps her escape. What follows is a story filled with action, adventure, danger and an attraction between the two that neither can deny. As Tordan remembers more about himself and his past he realises that he cannot just accept his freedom but has to fight for the freedom of his people. The book ends on a cliffhanger of sorts and I cannot wait for more to see whether more cyborgs can be saved and whether the Ardaks can be beaten. Fantastic characters and an enchanting story line make for a book you won’t want to miss.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This story is about Tordan and Aielle. He is a cyborg after being altered by the Ardaks and has no memory of his previous life.. She is their prisoner and has been for over twelve months. Tordan is one of her guards. Canhe save her? And who are they both really? Wonderful story.
A detailed plot with non-stop action, I loved this book from the first few pages! Tordan the cyborg is more than he seems, he’s not like the other cyborgs and Aielle the elf is almost dead from the torture inflicted on her. It’s pretty depressing and sad, until Tordan changes things up and saves her from certain death. Their escape and fight for survival is full of danger, violence and true love type bonding. It was hard to put down, with lots of action, great characters, hidden betrayals and heroic deeds. This author never disappoints!
Tordan has no memory of before, of the time before he was taken prisoner, implanted with a chip to control him, and forced to serve as a cyborg in the army of his enemy. Lately, though, he’s starting to regain control of his thoughts and actions. He knows he needs to keep the secret from his captors. When he learns that beautiful elven prisoner Aielle is to be executed, though, he knows it’s time to break free. He frees Aielle and together they must elude the Cyborgs chasing them, get Aielle back to her people and find a way to defeat their mutual enemy.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this story, It’s not a genre I usually read, but I was drawn in from the start. I loved the characterizations, especially Tordan, who, despite his Cyborg status, had real feelings and emotions the reader felt as well. I also loved the way the author incorporated the back story into the natural flow of the plot. By the end of the story I was anxious for the next story. I can’t wait to read Roihan’s story.
This is a new author to me and I will definitely be reading more from her. This book sucks you in from the beginning and with so many twists and turns it keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. What happened to Tordan and his people absolutely broke my heart. Then Aielle is a captured elven princess who’s magic is failing her. They team up to bring the Ardaks down but at what cost? I can’t wait to see how this story and series progresses. I highly recommend this book!
The Ardak have invaded the planet and taken over a city. Tordan slowly wakes and breaks from their control as a cyborg. An elf that has been a prisoner and tortured has a strange pull for him. Aielle is the elf princess and due to all the torture has no magic. When Tordan rescues Aielle she doesn’t trust him completely. The Ardaks want to find her family and she can’t let them get them. Lots of action and tons of twist. As their chemistry heats up they fight together with lots of surprises. Will Tordan get his memories back? This was a fantastic story and the characters were wonderful. Loved it!! I am voluntarily reviewing an arc I received.
Tordan wakes to find he is different, he hears voices in his head and parts of him are enhanced. He is a cyborg. Who and what he was before are lost to him. How did he become this way and why? All he knows is that there is a prisoner he must save. She has been in this prison for over a year.
Aielle has been a prisoner of the Ardak since her mission to take the war to them failed. She has been tortured, poisoned, staved and beaten to get the secrets the Ardak desperately need. They need the crystals the Elves protect and the location of their stronghold.
The Ardak plan to kill the the Elf and Tordan knows that now is the time to rescue her and return her to her people. Tordan has partial control over the chip in his head. He rescues Aielle and they escape into the jungle.
Can an elf and a cyborg develop feelings for each other? Can they save the world they live on from the destructive and killing Ardak?
This was a good book. I liked the characters and their journey of discovery. There are many little plot twists and turns. I would have liked a more in-depth world building. Why are the Ardak killing cat like creatures? Why are they making cyborgs? The story was good but the rest of the book was lacking in details. Background information is important for substance.
