Exhilarating is one word to describe Toby’s writing. The way she’s able to immerse you into the island surroundings makes one feel as though they are there. Suspenseful is another that comes to mind. I love a good mystery. This book had me on edge and kept me wondering until the very end which makes it even better. I love that Toby’s female leads …
Love the location and the character. Good summer read.
I really hated to have to put the book down to do other things. It kept me right to the end.
I liked Torch Ginger better than the first in series (Blood Orchids was too dark for me). Detective Lei Texeira has her flashbacks under better control than before, but she is still impetuous and rule aversive. This is a good police murder mystery that keeps you guessing right up till the end. The touch of romance is pleasant, too.
Love Toby’s stories! Love books set in Hawaii!
Well written. Good story. Easily imagined the surroundings through writer’s excellent portrayal. Kept my attention. No explicit sex scenes or vulgar language. Yay!
I loved this book looking forward to reading the next one in the series
Enjoyed this second book in series. Plan to read the next one soon.
I love all Toby Neal books!
Classic Toby Neal1
I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s a thriller of a mystery with romance included. I really liked the characters, especially Lei, the main character. Lei is a new detective who seems to be in the right place at the right time, job-wise, but has a very complicated, distrustful love life. Stevens, her ex-fiance is asked over from the main …
Lei deals with her horrid past while pursuing a dangerous murderer. Her relationship with her love, Michael Stevens, also a detective, is lobbed more than a few bombs!
The path of true love is never easy, but they have a more difficult path than most!
The setting–Hawaii–drew me into the story, and I’ve read the next two in the series.
Give me a book w/ a picture of a dog on the cover and I’ll pretty much buy it every time…after I check the review. Besides, I liked going to Hawaii for a change.
Easy read, great for vacations
Great read and surprising!
You kind of get hooked by these books. Toby Neal writes in such a way that you feel you are a part of her characters. The protagonist, Lea.T. is so likeable because while she is one tough cookie, she is also vulnerable. A very interesting combination. I have read all the books in this series and recommend them highly.
Toby Neal has written this book and many others with the same characters with the action taking place in the Hawaiian islands. The characters and plots make for great reading and I loved feeling like I was transported to Hawaii when I was reading this book and the others written by Ms. Neal. Highly recommended if you like detective mystery type …
Great series and great book. I am a fan of anything Toby Neal writes.
I enjoyed this book! Having visited the Hawaiian Islands, it brought back memories of the people and the island vibe. The homeless population is real. It was surprising to me since I don’t see it in my general area. I liked the characters, and they kept me interested in the story.
