Top Secret Target, by Dana Mentink, is the third book in the Military K-9 continuity series. This action packed page turner caught me right from the first page and had me turning page after page as the characters searched for The Red Rose Killer, before he strikes again, while trying not to become his next victims.
In true Dana Mentink form, she did an amazing job of adding twists and turns to this story that I never saw coming right till the very end. From dodging bullets, to flying in a car over a cliff, to having a car trying to run over her, Kendra Bell P.I. along with Military Police Lieutenant Ethan Webb and his K-9 Titus, fight to the very end to capture not just one killer, but two and possibly more. Will they be able to catch the killer/killers before they themselves end up dead? Who can they trust when it seems almost everyone is a suspect?
This book is a wonderful addition to the suspense series and I look forward to reading the next in this series. While this book is part of a continuity series, it can very well be read as a stand-a-lone novel, but I highly encourage you to pick up the others in this series as they too were great reads!
I received a copy of this book from the author, but was not required to give an honest review. This is my honest opinion of this book.
Dana Mentink’s books just keep getting better. Caught my attention right away and didn’t let go. Ethan and his partner Titus (K-9 team) are detailed to his ex-wife’s look-a-like friend. A killer is on the loose and then a few other twists are thrown in. Ethan is in the Air Force but pulled into a detail against his will for another branch of service. Kendra looks enough like Ethan’s ex for the killer to come after her not realizing she’s a stand-in. You think you have it figured out and suddenly there is a turn that throws your own conclusion into the trash. How would you like to guard someone that looks like an ex you just want to forget and never see again?
I received this book as an ARC and the review is voluntary. All opinions are my own and I can honestly say that Dana is one of my favorite authors. I loved this book and read it in one day. Can’t wait to read her next book “Cowboy Bodyguard”. Will be reading it tonight and tomorrow so look for my review. Top Secret Target is due out in June and Cowboy Bodyguard is due out in July by Harlequin. Highly recommend anything that Dana Mentink writes.
Take my word for it, don’t start reading Top Secret Target by Dana Mentink too late at night. You might end up like me, finally falling asleep at 4:30 a.m.!
I fell in love with Ethan Webb and his K-9 partner, Titus, at first contact. Kendra Bell only added to the anticipation of getting to the end of this episode in Love Inspired Suspense’s series Military K-9 Unit. I love Titus’s comical antics and Ethan’s tolerance and reaction to his partner sometimes falling out of his training to do things his own way. Kendra is a strong-willed private investigator hired to help track down a serial killer along with Ethan and Titus. Her past interferes and complicates their hunt.
The remaining books in the series are written by other authors. I’ve read books by all except two of the writers, so I know the other books will be as gripping. Now to go on a search for the first two books.
I received my copy of Top Secret Target in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.
Top Secret Target is the third in the Military K-9 series, but it can totally be read as a standalone. I had not read the first two, but had no problem keeping up with the storyline. I always love a Dana Mentink book and this one is no exception. Her stories grab your interest from the beginning and will keep it until you have turned the very last page. Ethan, his dog Titus, and Kendra (posing as Jillian, Ethan’s ex-wife) have been assigned the task of tracking down the Red Rose Killer. Apparently tracking down a serial killer was not action packed enough for Ms. Mentink because she threw in a few other nail-biting suspenseful storylines as well. It becomes very obvious from the beginning that someone is after Kendra who is posing as Jillian. Is it the Red Rose Killer, Kendra’s abusive ex-boyfriend, or is it someone else?? You’ll have to read to find out!! You won’t be disappointed!
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
loved the story, if you like suspense and romance with animals you have to read the book and the series. all very good cannot wait to read the next one.
Suspense is everywhere with plot twists that will keep you turning pages. Bet you can’t guess who the Villian is.
A great book. Even though this was #3 and I had not read books 1 or 2, I didn’t have any trouble figuring out what was going on because the author gave enough background. I loved Ethan, Kendra, and (of course) Titus. This was a very exciting story and I loved how the author was able to show just how special these military dogs are. I would definitely recommend this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and was not required to give a positive review.
“The only thing keeping this dog from tearing you to pieces is me, so I suggest you stand still, very still, and tell me what I want to know.”
Military Police Lieutenant Ethan Webb and his K-9 partner, Titus, have been charged to protect the woman posing as his ex wife because a killer is after her. Ethan is not thrilled with this assignment, but he follows orders. Kendra Bell, who looks nearly identical to his ex wife, is a private investigator herself and hates the fact that she is the bait for this killer, who has killed many times before. She wants to help Ethan bring down the killer, but it appears another killer is after her!
I am a forever fan of Dana Mentink. She does suspense well. As a southerner, I especially loved that she makes Ethan Webb a southerner. He was a great character and I loved him! His wit, his love for his dog, his devotion to duty. All these qualities make for a great hero. And Kendra is also a great character: sacrificial, determined to bring down not one but two criminals. Bravo!
*My thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of this book. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.
This book was a great Military K-9 Unit series addition! It was what I would expect from this author. Her stories always feature a lot of action and character development and this book had both. I have a hard time putting one of her books down and that was the case with this one! Not only do we have the main case of the serial killer, the Red Rose Killer, but we have TWO other killers to deal with in this book! Does that make this an super action book or what? Ethan and Kendra are thrown together to work together simply because Kendra looks like Ethan’s ex-wife and she’s going to be “bait” for the Red Rose Killer. They clash from the get go! Then, there’s the whole “she doesn’t like dogs thing” and Ethan is a K-9 officer! I loved their interactions! The final scene in the book was the best part of the book and my very favorite! I think readers will enjoy it very much!
I definitely recommend this book. I received this book from the author but was not required to write a review. My opinions are my own.
