He’s dark and dangerous and so delicious, how can she resist… rake, Penny refuses. It’s a silly idea that could end in absolute disaster. Except, she’s almost nothing left to lose. And when the perfect rake crosses her path, why not do a little research on Lord Preston? So he’s handsome and dashing… she’s only interested in the book, of course. Isn’t she?
Lord Wesley Preston hasn’t had much by the way of successes since he left the military. A failing earldom, a bad accountant, and a drinking habit have left him in tatters. He desperately needs a break. And when Miss Clearwater stumbles into his life, he discovers that she had just inherited a large piece of land perfect for farming, if only she had someone to help her do the work. Wes makes her a proposition he hopes she can’t refuse. Accept his proposal of marriage, become a countess, and make both their lives better.
The problem? Penny takes one look at him and declares him the worst sort of rake. She’s right of course. But how far will he go to prove to her that he can change?

Too Wicked to Woo by Tammy Andersen just a wonderful read. I can’t believe I waited so long to read it. It was such a delight. I loved the characters and the journey to HEA. That journey includes redemption, learning to trust, coming to terms with your past, confronting your past, and just so much more. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.
Too Wicked To Woo – Tammy Andresen Chronicles of a Bluestocking.
I was excited to read this book when I found out that 2 characters from another Tammy Andresen book would be in this one. Penny has no family left, her mother has passed away and her father is gone. She is alone with no real means to support herself. Luckily her friends are there to support her in all ways. She really does not want to marry since she considers her father a rake and wastrel. Chloe’s husband has been looking into Penny’s fathers will finding she has been left a home by her mother, but Penny needs money to fix the home.
Penny meets Wesley, Earl of Preston when arriving at the home of her dear friends Lady Chloe Dryden and Fin, Earl of Dryden. Wesley was not one who came from riches. He was the son of a farmer and had been a Captain in the Army and through circumstances beyond his control he becomes Earl of Preston the beginning of Wes’s downfall. When he meets Penny he has spent the last few months weaning himself off of drink. Having been taken advantage of by a unscrupulous manager he is in need of money to rebuild all he has lost.
Wes who really has nothing makes Penny an offer. She takes him up on his offer and with that their story begins. The story gets very emotional at times for both characters. You watch love begin to bloom between Penny and Wes, as they both work to make her property habitable and profitable. Both have histories they need to overcome.
I much enjoyed reading their story, and catching up with some of the other characters and their stories.
I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that was received from a third party. The above are my thoughts upon finishing this book.
Lord Preston, a reformed rake, needs a little financial assistance to turn his life around. He strikes a deal with Penny, an orphaned, unmarried young lady, and they end up in love. Another cute, quick story from Ms. Andresen.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Love all books by Erica; talented author
This is one of a series, enjoyable
“Too Wicked to Woo” (nook version) was an enjoyable story. I liked the plot and the characters. I have read several books written by Tammy Andresen and always look forward to my next purchase. I found one minor error in the preview of “Too Wicked to Want” (page 121): “past” was incorrectly used, it should have been “passed.” This error in no way detracted from “Too Wicked to Woo.”
Too Wicked to Woo is the second book in the Chronicles of a Bluestocking series. This series starts with the Earl of Dryden book. Lady Chloe, the new Countess of Dryden, suggest to her group of friends that they write a book or chronicle warning young ladies about the ways a rake can ruin them. Penny Clearwater has plenty of knowledge about rakes since her father was one. She saw the hurt and despair he caused her mother. Wesley “Wes” Preston had made a mess of his life after leaving the military and taking up the title of Earl of Preston. He had no money and hoped his friend, Dryden, might be able to help him straighten himself out. After hearing of Penny’s run-down property, he suggests they marry and together improve the property. After some convincing, Penny accepts Wes’s proposal but is still afraid she has fallen for a rake like her mother did. She contributes to the chronicle by writing about her parents’ marriage, but she is worried her marriage is following their path. Can Penny overcome her fear and trust Wes before his past comes between them?
I have enjoyed this series and this book is a great addition to it. I loved the characters and could feel their emotions while reading the book. Both Penny and Wes have fears from the past that they must overcome in order to trust each other. I can’t wait to read Lady Annabelle’s story next.
I am always thrilled when Tammy Andresen has a new book out because I always know her story & loving characters will sweep me away & this is even better because it start a whole new series. Lady Chloe Dryden after marrying the rakish Earl of Dryden gathers her of friends together & concocts an idea that her “ruined” friends should research the rakes of the ton & write a chronicle to educate the ladies of London regarding things to watch for around the rakes in society. Penny Clearwater is one of her friends, she has survived her mother’s death, her father’s financial ruin & death leaving her penniless & caused her fall from society has been taken in by one the her friends. Penny appreciates the help but yearns for a family of her own & being away from her friends charity but know marriage will never come her way. .
Lord Wesley Preston finds out he is suddenly an Earl which he never expected & he must give up a very successful military position in order to take on the earldom. The new position, money & lack of physical work led him down a road of debauchery with alcohol, opium & women. He has now pulled himself out of the gutter but his money is gone & he only has his rundown London town home & his dilapidated estate so he swallows his pride & asks his military friend, Earl of Dryden to help him. The earl is more than happy to help is old friend, Wes.
The earl has also been helping Penny with legal matters after her father left her penniless & has just discovered that her mother left her the family home (the one thing her father didn’t get hold of & sell). It is wonderful news but she does not have the funds to restore the house & land that has been uninhabited for a while.
Wes overhears the conversation taking place about the inheritance & enters the room after excusing his interruption. The earl & his wife, Chloe introduce Wes to Penny & Wes immediately offers a solution to her problem of repairing the house. He explains his expertise in farming & also his knowledge in repairs around the house & building. He suggests trading his labor for half of the money that is earned when he prepares, plants & sells the crops grown. He also asks Penny to marry him to keep the gossip mongers from talking & it would be done as a business agreement & after the sales of the crop in a year or so, they could both go their separate ways. The journey from here is fun, a little rocky, with a little bit of a danger but the one thing that holds true is always tell the truth.
I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
Too Wicked to Woo is the second book in the Chronicles of a Bluestocking, a series which follows a collection of friends who have had bad dealings with men who are considered rakes. In this book the main character is Penny Clearwater who has been brought low by the one man who should have been looking out for her, her father. After his death all that Penny inherited was a mountain of gambling debts and bad dealings. With nothing left for her, Penny was forced to live off of the kindness of her friends. This was not an ideal situation for her but she was left with little choice in life until she was informed that she had a small inheritance that had not been swallowed by her father’s irresponsible ways.
The only issue with her inheritance was that it would be nearly impossible for her to get it up and running by herself. At this point is where Lord Wesley Preston entered with a unique proposition as he too had been down on his luck. Although Penny did not trust Preston, as she could draw too many parallels between his situation and her father’s, but she was also not in a position to be too picky. So, she accepted his proposal and kept her fingers crossed that her intuition about Preston’s character was not playing her false.
What a sweet romance Too Wicked to Woo was! It was charming to read about the fears and hopes that both Penny and Preston were dealing with. They both had to extend trust towards each other in order to salvage a new life for themselves but it was a scary endeavor for them as well. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, these two characters were adorable with their ups and downs as they forged a new life that included a few surprises along the way. I love that this story also included a little mystery in as well as a lovely romance. Overall, Too Wicked to Woo was a wonderful addition to a charming series and I would recommend it to all readers who love historical romance.
This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Aurora Publicity. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
I absolutely loved getting swept away in this story. A perfect read for a fall night!
“The Art of Dealing with Rouges.” A decent name to begin with but Penny and her friends were going to try to put together a book to help young ladies with said rogues. She had her father as a prime example because he had been the worst, gambling away all the money and he left her with a run down estate. Then there was Preston.
A match made in heaven.. wait… was it really? More like a joining of forces to help each other out. At least that was Preston’s brilliant idea as he overheard that she had inherited an estate, but it would need much repair to become profitable. He could help her and then that would help him and his estate and farmlands. A great plan! Of course they would get married and work together, but it would be a business arrangement.. Easy… Or was it?
Such a perfect story of two people coming together contractually to help each other become profitable. But oh, there was much more to it than that! Loved Preston and all that he had been through and Penny who had endured her fair share of heartbreak. Tammy Andresen never fails to make me fall in love with her characters and create a story that brings a smile to my heart.
Oh, and the book they were putting together? You will just have to read to find out!
Whilst a well written, warm-hearted romance, the agony of the main characters is very evident. Lord Wesley Preston is weighed down with so much remorse and regret that he can barely carry the load. Penny Clearwater has been forced to carry the mistakes made by her parents and because of their carelessness, she is near destitute. Finding that she does, in fact, own a run-down estate comes as a relief, but the feeling is quickly dispelled by the realisation that she has no means of being able to carry out the necessary work to bring it back to life. Wes steps into the breach, and knowing that his one asset is his farming ability, he offers her marriage. Amidst much trepidation, the two embark on a contractual marriage, one that would benefit both of them, but neither takes into account the past that keeps creeping up on them. The plot of this book kept me turning the pages and involved my emotions. I fell in love with Wes and empathised with Penny as they struggled to bring all the pieces of their lives together. I was sorry when the book came to an end as I was totally invested in the characters. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
An Earl down on his luck, having hit bottom, is ready to make his life something to be proud of. A lady left penniless by her miscreant father, her only asset, a small estate that is slowly crumbling to dust. Was their meeting one of chance or has Fate seen fit to bring these two together to heal and make a life together? If only Lord Wesley Preston wasn’t such a rake…and Miss Penelope Clearwater such an innocent…
Tammy Andresen’s TOO WICKED TO WOO has a slightly different tone, less friction between characters, but still that uncertainty of a future that may or may not be brighter than their pasts. I loved the determination of Wesley to prove himself. I found Penny to be a delightfully adventurous lady and the addition of the chronicle to help other young ladies to deal with rakes a delight!
Familiar characters play important roles, friendships that are supportive and passions that are unleashed make this another quick read that is magnetic from start to finish!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Tammy Andresen! This is my honest and voluntary review.

Miss Penny Clearwater’s been through the mill, she’s navigated her mother’s death, her father’s financial ruin, and her own fall from society with all the grace she could muster. So when her friend, Lady Chloe Dryden suggests Penny & some friends make a chronicle teaching young ladies of London all about the elusive rake, she’s almost nothing left to lose. Lord Wesley Preston hasn’t had much by the way of successes since he left the military. A failing earldom, a bad accountant, and a drinking habit have left him in tatters. He’s determined to leave his rakish ways behind & succeed. Then Miss Clearwater stumbles into his life, he discovers that she had just inherited a large piece of land perfect for farming, if only she had someone to help her do the work! Wes makes her a proposition he hopes she can’t refuse. Accept his proposal of marriage, become a countess, and make both their lives better.
I love a marriage of convenience where both parties have already fallen for each other. This was very well written with strong characters, who were so loveable but both were riddled with insecurities. It took time for them to truly trust each other & their road to their HEA was strewn with perceived obstacles & it made for an engrossing read, they were both just adorable.

My review :
When the past left them destitute, is there a future together when trust is most precious currency…
Sorry I am a true Dory, I do remember now Wesley, he was the one nearly lost to excesses in The Earl Of Dryden.
I pitied him for how low he had fallen.
Then the opening of this book introduced the new lord Preston, still broke but his body free of any drugs or spirits.
I was sad for him, he made mistakes and gave up his rights by drowning in dens of hell.
Until the electroshock of his friend finding a new meaning for himself because of love.
Penny has seen from the inside, the damages left when a love is not both sided and one is a cheater never reneging on using his vile means to get what he wants.
So when a said reformed cad proposes to her, she has every right to doubt his word.
Thus begins a slow courting as they get to know one another once married.
Together they will share and face the ghosts of their past, ugly or fair…
Up to them to decide where lies their trust.
It was an emotional and harrowing tale as both fight their own demons, in spite of deciding to band together but still some battles are best done alone, until they can sort out where their heart and soul are called.
Penny is constantly analyzing her relationship with Wes, scarred he might going back to his old life when every new day, he shows her how he cares for herself and the promises he made to her on their wedding day.
While Wes struggles with his own guilt and insecurities, he blinds himself to his own value, unable to see he is an asset to their fledgling union.
Luckily for them, their chemistry will cement their love until they can find in them the strength to straighten their soul to a deeper level.

Too Wicked To Woo is a phenomenal historical romance by Tammy Andresen. Ms. Andresen has provided readers with a fast-paced and fun story loaded with outstanding characters. Penny is left…well, penniless when her father dies. Her friends take her in and provide for her, but she wants a home of her own. Wesley is the Earl of Preston, unexpectedly, but a farmer at heart. Penny and Wesley’s story is packed with drama, humor, sexy bits, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading Too Wicked To Woo and look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. Too Wicked To Woo is book 1 of the Chronicles of a Bluestocking Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from a third party. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
