So enjoyable to watch Vaughn & Brielle navigate all of this while trying to fight, albeit unsuccessfully, the intense chemistry that is still between them.
Ms. Maynard does an amazing job in giving you the background, all while telling an incredible story.
Vaughn Blackwood is a self-made millionaire. He is heading to Royal, Texas for his sister‘ s wedding. He lives and works in Dallas-Fort Worth. He runs into his ex-girlfriend, Veterinarian Brielle Gunderson (Brie). She tells him that her daughter, Danika (Nika) is his daughter. He is shocked. He never wanted to get married or have children. He doesn’t want to be like his Father. A fake engagement, chemistry off the chart with Brie and is beautiful daughter. Will he be a father for Nika? Can he be one or better off without him? Will they figure it out or will he lose Brie again? I love this story. Janice Maynard is an awesome author. Everyone should read it
Absolutely a fun book to read! It was totally entertaining from start to finish. See how this Texas player meets the two year old daughter he never knew existed when he returns home for his sister’s wedding. Add the beautiful mother who left before she knew she wa pregnant because he never wanted to commit and you’ve got a story you want be able to put down!
Too Texan to Tame is Janice Maynard’s contribution to Harlequin Desire’s Texas Cattleman’s Club: Inheritance series. We catch up with Vaughn Blackwood who has finally returned to Royal for his sister’s wedding. His history catches up with him in the form of Brielle Gunderson. Not only is he surprised that he is a father but he also discovers that he still cares for her. Too Texan to Tame is filled with many twists and turns. Will they take that second chance and become a family? This is a standalone book. I loved this book and highly recommend it along with the rest of the books in the series. I received an advance copy which I chose to read and review. This is my honest opinion.
Full of unraveling secrets! With the fifth book in the ever dramatic Texas Cattleman’s Club: Inheritance series, Janice Maynard brings Blackwood bad boy Vaughn home to Royal for his little sister’s wedding … only he gets more than he bargained for upon his return!
Vaughn already peaked a reader’s interest if you’ve been following along with the Inheritance series because he wants no part in fighting his father’s will leaving his wicked stepmother everything. He loves his family, but his days on Blackwood Hollow are long gone.
Brielle is kindhearted, but it’s a little hard to get over her secrets. She worked for his father and had a relationship with Vaughn years ago, and failed to make much of an effort to tell him she was carrying his child when she hightailed it out of town.
I recommend this book and the entire series to anyone loving a high drama family saga bringing happily ever afters to one family member at a time. I’m really enjoying it and looking forward to the conclusion to the series soon.
I loved this book, it was endearing to read how Vaughn changed and that the feeling he and Brie had, hadn’t changed overtime. It was lovely to read on to see some closure (not completely) about the series, which made me wish I had read the complete series. I always love the words of Ms Maynards, with which she enfolds me into a different world, this time in Texas. I love the small- and sometimes not so small drama in this second chance, secret baby and fake engagement book. This is what it’s all about: Rancher Vaughn Blackwood is only back home in Royal, Texas, for his sister’s wedding. Then he runs into Brielle Gunderson—and learns he’s the father of her baby. A fake engagement would secure his newfound daughter’s claim to the Blackwood legacy. But Brie has doubts about the plan even as their passion reignites. Can Vaughn change…or will Brie become the girl who got away—twice?

My Thoughts:
Too Texan To Tame is a continuation of the Blackwood Inheritance saga. Vaughn Blackwood returns home for his sister’s wedding, and gets the shock of his life in the form of a two year old daughter he didn’t know existed. I’ll be honest, this right here would normally make me put a book down. The excuses for this information being kept from him were, in my opinion, weak at best. In this day and age there is just no reason Brielle would be unable to “get in touch” with her former lover, especially since she resided in the town where his siblings live. While this trope isn’t one I’m a fan of, I did agree to read this arc so I continued with the story. I would have loved to see the fake engagement aspect of the book get more attention, mostly to get a better idea of them as a couple outside of the bedroom. They definitely had chemistry, and I like Vaughn’s attempts to make life easier for Brielle. I’d have loved to see some groveling on Brielle’s part. Frankly, I felt she got off easy after keeping his daughter from him for two years! Not cool! By the end of the book, I did appreciate that Vaughn and Brielle get their second chance at a happily ever after.
This book gets a bonus star from me because of the the cameos from other characters in this series. Sophie & Nigel are just *heart eyes*, Kace and Lulu *dreamy*, and I am more than a little curious about Miranda and Kai because that scene was just *fire*. So much tension! I really hope we get a follow up to that little tease! If you’re a fan of the Inheritance series, you definitely want to make sure you don’t miss this book. If you’re new to the series, I’d suggest starting with the first book as it helps to read them in order.
Vaughn is back to Royal for his sister wedding. He will leave it as soon as he can, but life has other plans.
There comes Brielle, they had a fling two years ago and they have a daughter, he didn’t know about it.
With all the family drama, will Vaughn ask for second chance?
Will Brielle is ready for future with Vaughn?
Steamy, Sweet Moments with a Touch of Texas Heat!
This book was such a fun steamy read for me. The words flowed so seamlessly and the scenes were so realistic that it felt like I had the best seat in the movie theater. Not only was it exciting to watch Brie and Vaughn reconnect, it was also nice to see how the lives of each character flowed together to enhance the story. If you enjoy stories where love is always in the air and two people get their second chance at love, then this is the book for you!
This one is one of my favorite troupes. Second chance romance with an adorable baby girl and how about throwing in a fake engagement to add to the mix. Maybe too much? Nah, Janice always delivers.
Vaughn Blackwood comes home for his sisters wedding to find that Brielle is back in town. When Brielle knocks on his door to let him know that he has a two year old daughter, his world is turned upside down. He needs her to help get his inheritance and she needs him to get to know his daughter so she can move on. Chemistry and feelings still there can they walk away unhurt or can they take a chance on each other to get their HEA.
You don’t want to miss this installment.
Such a great story and addition to the series.
Vaughn never let anyone too close. Brielle wanted stability and a home. These two together are great.
Loved the story.
Janice Maynard’s does it again in Too Texan To Tame. It is a great addition to the Texas Cattleman’s Club series. Vaughn Blackwood is he oldest Blackwood sibling. The siblings have been in a battle over their father’s will. Vaughn is back in town for his sister Sophia’s wedding. While in town he discovers that he is the father of a toddler Danika. Brielle Gunderson is a Veterinarian that Vaughn met while she worked on his dads ranch. Vaughn did not consider himself marriage material and Brie wanted a family and a committed relationship so they split. Now Brie must figure out if Vaughn is father material and is serious about wanting a relationship with Danika. The relationship quickly becomes physical and now the dilemma of what will happen between Brie, Vaughan and Danika makes for a great read! Vaughan has also decided that now that he has a daughter he will join his siblings as they try to figure out his father’s will and to do this he has to prove that he is settled. Throw in a fake engagement, an airplane crash, Vaughn’s stepmom’s suspicions of something going on at the bank and you have an exciting story!
Great Book
This was the first book I have read by this well known author. I enjoyed getting to know each character and how they fit into this story. I read the book in one day. The story held my interest and the ending made me long to know what happens to these characters in the next book. I look forward to reading more books by Janice Maynard.
Loving the Texas Cattlemen Series (The Inheritance) .
Vaughn and Brie great second chance love story. Parents make such a lasting impression on children lives. The Blackwood children are all now adults and trying to deal with the death of their father and being left out his will.
Brie worked on the Blackwood ranch as a veterinarian and had a brief affair with Vaughn. When said affair was over with Brie not only left Blackwood Ranch but also the town. Brie did not know that she was with child when she left town. She tried and failed at all attempts to reach Vaughn to inform him that she was pregnant with his child.
Brie returns to town and the Blackwood sibling all see her except for Vaughn and they let him know that Brie is back in town. Brie wants Vaughn to know that he is the father of her daughter Nika who has the family trait of green eyes.
When Vaughn finally sees his daughter he know that he can not deny her because she has inherited the family trait of the green eyes.
The is a awesome love story about Vaughn the baby of the Blackwood siblings, Brie and Nika.
Waiting patiently for the finally book in the series “Her Renegade” about Miranda Dupree and Kai Maddox the love of her life whom she walked away from to marry Buckley Blackwood.
