We’ve all been there. One minute, you’re sprawled out on your bed, minding our own business and the next you’re lying in the back seat of your best friend’s car as she races you to the ER. And not the closest one either. No. You’re headed to the one fifty miles farther out, because the one five minutes away is where you start your residency next week.So there you are, lying in cubicle nine, hoping … are, lying in cubicle nine, hoping like hell that the doctor about to examine you isn’t young, sexy or male.
Of course he’s all three.
Telling him about the clitmaster7000 I have lodged inside me is by far the single most embarrassing moment of my life.
Discovering he’s my brother’s new roommate is even worse.
Awkward Love is a series of sexy, fun novels that can be read in ANY order. Each book is COMPLETELY seperate from the next, so you can read one, or you can read them all

I laughed all the way through this read. Laura is quiet. She works hard and is about to start her third-year residency. She rarely dates. She finds her BFF’s birthday gift card present and decides she’ll use it for a bob (battery operated boyfriend) since it was for an adult “toy” shop. Only quiet, workaholic Laura could get it stuck–doing its job way too well. Going to the hospital she starts work at is a big no. Of course, at the hospital further away, the doctor assigned to her has to be sex in a white coat. Oh well, she’ll never see him again–at least not until the dinner party at her brother’s house.
It just get’s better from there. It is primarily a light-hearted read with some real issues included. There is plenty to keep the interest. You’ve steam, humor, a besty who can make a horrible situation–worse, and interfering family members. This is a fun read sure to leave you smiling.
Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
This book just cracks me up! I totally laugh-out-loud at some scene right from the very start of the story.
Laura and Luke’s first meeting is really awkward in every sense of the word.
Laura being wheeled to the ER to pull out something in her that kept on buzzing every minute. She requested a female doctor, but instead, gorgeous, sexy Dr. Luke came in to attend to her needs. Embarrassed, Laura was able to tell what really happened to her.
And after that mishap, what’s the chance for them to meet again, apparently a lot. At a dinner arranged by her brother after an introduction was made, Luke said…
“I’m getting a really good vibe from you, Laura. I think I’m really going to get a buzz out of talking with you tonight.”
What happens next is really something worth reading about. Plus, you have to meet Becca the BFF who doesn’t have any filter in delivering her punch line and Iris, the neighbor, whose sense of humor is unusually good for an 80-year-old woman.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Missy Johnson wrote another rom-com story with a heartwarming ending that I just love. This 3rd book of the Awkward series can be read as standalone. Want something funny with a heart to read, I highly recommend this one.

This book had a little of everything. From laugh out loud moments to ones that will tug at your heart strings. The characters were wonderful and the story was well written, drawing you in from the first page.
Laura buys herself a toy with a gift card she finds that she’d forgotten about. Just as her luck has it, things go wrong, with her ending up in the ER waiting to see a doctor to remove the toy.
Laura was expecting a female doctor not the gorgeous Dr Luke.
Laura never expected to see Luke again, the ER was far enough away, but after being asked to dinner at her brothers the last person she expected to see was Luke.
With a miscommunication with Annie’s parents and a brother that she can’t say no to, Laura finds herself with a new roommate, Dr Luke. After trying to ignore each other, they decide to start over realising that they get along and have some heated chemistry.
But Laura has something she’s not telling Luke and Luke’s past shows up, even with their rocky start can they get through the secrets and past.
I would say this was a cute meet-cute but it was more embarrassing/funny of a meet-cute.
I felt SO bad for Laura and the agony she had to be going through and then to have a hot doctor walk in. I would have been modified.
Luke was such a professional during it all. He tried to put her at ease. However, when they meet again, all bets are off and he tries to ease the tension between them but talking about their first meeting. It was hilarious but oh so embarrassing.
This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. There’s some laugh out loud moments that I’ve come to expect from this author, along with some hot moments between the couple. This one felt a little heavier than book 6 as it deals with some emotional issues, but the author takes great care and it adds to the story beautifully. I can’t wait to read more of this series!
This book had me laughing with tears in my eyes at times. I have loved this entire series. A great read with hilarious and serious moments.
I received an arc and am leaving a review.
4 1/2 out of 5 stars
This is the first book I’ve read from this author, but I don’t see it being my last. I laughed out loud so many times while reading this book that my kids thought I’d gone crazy! From the very first page, I was invested in the characters. Luke and Laura both had me. They meet in in the best setup ever for a story! I laughed and laughed. For real, I think this book is just so funny that EVERYONE should read it!
It wasn’t just the two main characters that were so great. Laura’s friend Becca and her brother and sister-in-law all made great impacts on the story, but my favorite “extra” was Laura’s 80 year old next door neighbor, Iris. When Becca and Laura are having lunch with Iris, Becca asks if Iris misses her deceased husband. Iris’s response is legendary:
“Of course, but when you get to my age, you miss everything. I miss being continent overnight.”
Though this story has some ups and downs and it isn’t funny 100% of the time, it is the best rom-com I’ve read this year. I can’t wait to follow up with more stories from this author!
*** I voluntarily read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
After reading an excerpt of this in the author’s newsletter, I had to get it. I dove in and really enjoyed it at first. Then I as I was reading, I started to get confused about the location of where Laura lived and where the hospital she worked was in relation to where Matt, her brother, lived. I was confused enough that I had to bookmark the page I was on so I could go back to where we first heard of her going to her brother’s place just to make sure I had read it right. That right there pulled me out of the story enough that I was then on the lookout for more inconsistencies, which I found later.
So what started out a really great, laugh out loud read, ended up being just okay. I ended up struggling with the main characters. I just couldn’t connect with them the more I read.
Becca plans her best friend Jakes bachelor party at a strip club. When she walks in her Professor is there. Her very hot professor that she dreams about.
Liam knows Becca has sexual fantasies about him because he can read the messages she sends to her friend, but Becca started out not knowing he could see them.
Becca and Liam know it’s wrong to be together but the attraction to one another is strong.
Each one of these stories in the series just gets funnier and funnier. Becca and Liam’s story will keep you laughing from beginning to end and let’s not forget her mother that has no filter. A funny, sexy must read.
I started laughing during the first page of this book, and stopped laughing as I turned the last page. An incredibly witty, well-written romantic comedy that tugs on the heartstrings without forfeiting uproarious laughter. Very much enjoyed the characters, the random scenarios, and the lovely ending.
Too Much Information is a great read. It’s book three in the Awkward Love series. It can definitely be read as a standalone. OMG, this one starts off super funny. If I was Laura I would be totally embarrassed but when reading it I was laughing out loud at parts. Laura is about to start a residency at the local hospital so when she needs to the ER for an embracing situation she travels to another hospital where she meets Dr. Luke. If that’s not embarrassing enough she has to see Luke again. Luke is Laura’s brother’s friend. Luke and Laura have great chemistry and once Laura gets over her embarrassment they are good together.
The poor girl in cubical number nine!
OMG! So many hilarious situations Laura gets herself into!! This review title reminds me of the song love potion number nine… though I do not recommend trying this to find love 😉 Though this is book three in the series they can be read in any order, no characters in this one from the first two. And now a bit about the story…
Imagine being ready to start your new job, but being in need of those services and embarrassingly so. Laura decides to go out of her way to get to a hospital and see a doctor. Luke is not only the doctor who sees her, he’s staying with his best friend (her brother), is starting work at the same hospital she is next week, and as it happens even ends up staying at her place. Now how will the two manage and how can she keep the cubicle girl story from getting out…
Favorite passages:
– “I’m getting a really good vibe from you, Laura. I think I’m really going to get a buzz out of talking with you tonight.”
– “You mean you wanted to make sure I wasn’t decomposing on the floor?”
– But the thing about life is that nothing is ever really forever. It’s only forever until it’s not.
– “I hear there are some great sex toys on the market you might want to test out.”
Note: I was given a free copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.
A great funny loving read. Too Much Information is told in dual point of view. Love Laura and Luke and the love they have for each other.
This has been a fun series of standalone books, I mean seriously once you read the blurb you cannot help but laugh. The fact that you have a clitmaster7000 lodged inside of you is hysterical and then add that the hot doctor attending to you is your brothers friend and you know all sorts of awkward things will be happening throughout the story which will have you continuously laughing out loud.
While I enjoyed the premise of the story I just didn’t feel the chemistry between Luke and Laura as much as I would have liked. I think this may have to do with Laura being a bit wishy washy about being with Luke. I get that they met under unusual circumstances but if you put that aside it seemed as if they were destined to meet at some point considering Luke was best friends with Laura’s brother.
I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good laugh along with a steamy read. I mentioned that this is a series of standalone books so it really doesn’t matter what order you read them in but I would recommend reading them all because they are each fun and steamy reads.

A perfectly sweet and hilariously funny contemporary romance that’ll have you smiling from cover to cover…
I absolutely love the Awkward Love series. I find myself waiting on tenterhooks for the next book every time I finish the most recent release. Too Much Information was no exception. The blurb alone had me vibrating with a mixture of excitement and anticipation and the minute it landed on my kindle I just had to crack it open and dive in.
The plot for this book isn’t your typical brother’s roommate/friend romance even though it does fall within that trope. One I like very much. For me what made this book was the humour. It had me laughing pretty much from beginning to end. I mean the a doctor getting a sex toy stuck in their vagina? Come on…even if I have heard of similar situations the doctor is never the patient. From that to the banter and one liners I was just in fits of laughter. This is exactly what a romantic comedy should be.
The characters I could not get enough of. I loved Luke and Laura. I liked that he grounded her airhead. I also really liked that they were on the same level from the off. Vibrator incident not taken into consideration. They are both smart and intelligent and it reflects in the way they interact with one another both platonically and sexually. Their chemistry is palpable from the off and it just boils over as the story goes on.
I really feel like I need to read this book again for the only reason that it made me laugh so much. I could not wipe the smile off my face the whole way through! It’s low angst and low drama, which make sit a VERY easy read. It isn’t dragged out to unnecessary lengths. It really is a feel good comedy that will make you laugh out loud and smile to the point your cheeks hurt. I simply could not get enough and I feel a reread of the series coming on!
Although Too Much Information is the third book in the Awkward Love series, it reads as a complete standalone!
Adored the fast paced funny RomCom. I mean getting a “toy” lost in your vjay is in a sense funny enough, but add the fact that it’s still running and you can’t get it out just adds to the craziness. The author has truly written a very funny storyline with the perfect balance of humor, romance and endearing characters.
Laura decides to use an sexy shop gift card she was given as a gag gift. Having never used these type things, she failed to read all the instructions (I mean their use is pretty straight forward right)? We not to poor Laura as she had no clue it was for external use only. So yep, poor Laura loses the “toy” and can’t get it out and it’s causing her … well let just say she becoming exhausted so she calls her bestie for help. (Lordy that scene is a riot to read- lol). To make matters worse, she ends up in the ER with the sexiest man she’s ever seen as her doctor. After the worst hour of her life Laura is home and regrouping her life. She is fixing to start her internship at the hospital, she has her family, her cat and her bestie – so life is good. Well right up until she goes to a family dinner party and meets her brother’s house guest. Yep you guessed it, the sexy doctor from the ER, Luke, is her brother’s old college roomate. Let the Hilarity begin.
Laura and Luke seem to be destined to run into each other at every turn. Can Laura get over the embarrassment of their first meeting to give Luke a chance? Can Luke keep from sticking his foot in his mouth every time he tries to lighten the mood between them? When Kama or Life throws them both a curveball or two, or is that three or four curveballs, can they manage to be civil? This is a great romantic comedy and I highly recommend it. Your funny bone and your heart won’t regret it.
Expecting a cute, sassy, fun read, I was pleasantly surprised to find this book was so much more.
After a perfectly embarrassing trip to the ER, Laura is shocked speechless to find herself facing the doctor that treated her. Trying to lighten the awkwardness, Luke only makes matters worse with his attempts to joke about their previous meeting. When things take a decidedly different turn they soon find themselves in a relationship that was both sweet and passionate.
Laura was a strong, independent heroine that was determined to make her way in her chosen field. She wanted the husband and family but knew that those things weren’t really in her future. Luke was a confident smirky hero full of fun and laughter, often times laughing at himself which I found quite attractive. Together, these characters just worked, despite the fact that one of them is keeping a secret and the other will have one exposed to them.
This is the type of romance that you can just sit back and enjoy even though you know the other shoe is gonna drop and someone’s going to be hurt because, you know…the secret. Despite that, the angst level here was relatively low while the steam factor was high. The secondary characters definitely helped to build the story up and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them all.
This is my second book by Missy Johnson and I have loved them both! Looking forward to the next in this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
